ABOUT Yesterday When I Was Young:
This song was recorded and released on Shirley's 1970 LP titled, 'Shirley Bassey - Something'. Bassey's UK comeback came in 1970, leading to one of the most successful periods of her career. In this year, she returned to the UK with a record breaking run of performances at the Talk of the Town nightclub. Also in that year, she released the album Something, which showcased a new Bassey style, a shift from traditional pop to more contemporary songs and arrangements

Charles Aznavour OC, (born Shahnour Vaghenag Aznavourian[1], May 22, 1924, Paris) is a French-Armenian singer, songwriter, actor, public activist and diplomat. Besides being one of France's most popular and enduring singers, he is also one of the best-known singers in the world. Aznavour is known for his characteristic short figure and unique tenor voice; clear and ringing in its upper reaches, with gravelly and profound low notes. He has appeared in more than 60 movies, composed about 1,000 songs (including 150 at least in English, 100 in Italian, 70 in Spanish, and 50 in German, and has sold well over 100 million records. My gosh. She looks and sounds even more beautiful here in 1998, than in her 1973 TV performance. Like a fine red wine. A beautiful and talented woman.
Shirley's stage presence is as if she is singing personally to you from across the room..her magic is she just is the world's greatest female performer, memorable.
She is a performer yes but far from the best female singer.
It is a matter of opinion but she is the only singer that stirs my soul and can make me cry, no one else does, live she is so much better than the rest, I don't want to mention any other singers by name but there is just no comparison, most are only held up so high because they are American.

I have a personally autographed picture of Shirley Bassey. I wrote to her at her home in Monte Carlo. The photo is hanging on bedroom wall. She has such an amazing voice. I had chills when I saw on Oscars singing GOLDFINGER to mark 50 years of BOND.
My dad's band once accompanied her at a concert in Switzerland where she lost a diamond from her ring... the whole place was on its knees reaching for it - luckily it was found.
