    Thank you! 🥰
    Regarding the parking mode that can't behave itself, we can update the dash cam to the latest version VT-EBH182. And this version can also optimize the connection between WIFI and APP.
    And we also recommend updating the APP to the latest version.
    If the problem is still the same, please turn off cellular data on the ( Vantrue) app settings on your phone.
    Any questions, please feel free to contact our support. ☺

    Thank you for the extensive video. I have decided to get this camera. Parking mode is not something I could even use in my case because I’d be mounting this in my semi truck to replace my current Garmin. I think in a truck driver’s case this cam is phenomenal because our windshields are so hard to reach to tap a record button, and sometimes the noise levels really mess with voice commands. Thus, having that button to mount on my dash to quickly record a video is a top seller for me.
    Thanks again, and stay safe out there.

    I enjoyed your video, was very comprehensive, I don't really need the parking mode as my car output socket has voltage only the engine is running so i think this will be the best choice for me.
    As for 2k resolution i find very useful for reading license plates as i was near hit at 60mph by a car which didn't give the right of way in an intersection that wasn't under camera surveillance, when i told that to a police crew they asked me for the license plate or at least a part of it and a make of the car in order to apprehend that driver (who ran away after i went off road because of him).
    So yes, reading license plates is important for me.

    Just got mine today… thanks for helping me understand how to use it!
    I understood you felt it was unimportant but I’d love to know why 1 minute loops are best, and why the time lapse feature wasn’t worth anything… it’s not clear to me whether time lapse records _in addition to_ the standard recording. If so, it might be cool to record a cross-country drive!
    By the way, one possible use I could see for the redundant USB port on the camera itself is if I get pulled over and want to record myself and the officer, or really anything that isn’t out the front windshield.

    • @BrianGreenstone
      @BrianGreenstone  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1 minute loops are good because in case of a serious accident there’s less chance of the entire recording getting corrupted. Also, it’s faster to download the smaller clips.

    Thanks for the review. I was encouraged to buy this camera, but now I regret it and am about to return it to Amazon. The reason is that the app doesn't work on my iPhone. I have the most up-to-date version of the app as well as the latest version of iOS; however, when I connect to the unit's WiFi, all the app does is spin its wheel in the "live view" screen. It doesn't show the live view, and it won't let me get past that to the various controls in the app. As far as I am concerned, the app is garbage (even though the camera seems good).

    2K = 2048x1080, as specified by the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI). 1920x1080 is indeed not 2K, that's simply called Full HD. DCI 4K = 4096x2160, 4K UHD = 3840x2160. There is no official DCI- or SMPTE-designation for 2560x1080, but it is commonly known as 2.5K. Thanks for the thorough review, I think I'll order this one.

    Regarding parking mode. I have N4 camera and parking mode works so that it reacts to G-force and not to visual movement. I have tested while it has been sitting in a window next to the front door in my house and every time I have slammed my door, it started recording for 5 minutes after which it went into parking mode again. No matter how much movement there was in front of the camera. I should not be able to say if it is different in the E1 camera, but it would be strange if it were different and they made 2 different programs/settings.

    @JettaRedIII 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have also tried both. First, I had the Garmin Mini 2. Nice camera, but just none of the features other than basic date and time markers (correct me if wrong) plus audio. The Vantrue E1, however, is full featured with date, time, audio, speed, location, etc. The GPS sensor is built into the mount. Size wise, the Vantrue is about as high as the Garmin, but almost twice as wide. But, when mounted, the Vantrue seems "smaller" than it is.
    The latest software (firmware) version is VT-EBH182. That seemed to fix some issues with time and timezone settings, and may have done more. Vantrue does not expose what firmware updates fix. I have noticed that in Parking mode, when I set it to Collision Detection only, the cam does seem to go into sleep mode unless disturbed, so maybe that was a fix in the latest firmware. I do not use motion detection (or any of the other settings) when in Parking mode.
    I agree with the Polarizing Filter recommendation, but as of now they are all backordered by at least a month. I ordered one directly from Vantrue, so we'll see how long it takes to get here. (I also ordered one from Amazon as a backup.)

The battery wire tapped into the dome fuse for constant power, yet every time the car is turned off the cam says "The dashcam is about to shut down and enter collision detection mode" and there's no green blinking light telling me it's still recording. Hello Brian,
    I'm a sort of paramedic in Italy (it has a different name and level), I'm used to drive ambulances, so I don't really need the parking mode, my purpose is to record the road while in emergency until I reach the target, just in case something unexpected happens, will you suggest this Dash Cam for this purpose?
    I also have another question, I often change ambulance depending on my schedule and "Station", so the original mount I don't believe it will last long removing it every single day from the windshield, but there is a product called Vantrue Suction Cup (Vantrue N4, N2S, X4S, T3 Dash Cam GPS Receiver Module Type C USB Port Car Suction Cup Mount for Windows and Mac), do you think it is compatible with the Vantrue E1?
    Thanks a lot

      @BrianGreenstone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think for commercial use it’s best to have a 3-Channel dashcam that records front, rear, and interior. But those are harder to swap out to different vehicles. I’m not sure about the suction cup mounts - I haven’t looked into that.

    • @JettaRedIII
      @JettaRedIII 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I installed the mount before reading the instructions (I mean, who reads instructions?). But the Vantrue comes with electrostatic film (much like a screen protector for your phone) that is supposed to make removal and re-application easier. However, I have not tried it BECAUSE I didn't read the instructions. The Vantrue does come with replacement adhesive pads for people who want to move the mount or who don't read instructions.

  • @Dave-nh8iv
    @Dave-nh8iv ปีที่แล้ว

    What is the electrostatic film for? Why can't the GPS mount be stuck directly to the windscreen?

    • @BrianGreenstone
      @BrianGreenstone  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can mount it directly to the glass, but the adhesive is difficult to remove. The plastic thing is just a way to make it a cleaner removal some day.

    so if you have all of the parking mode features turned off then you don’t have to worry about it tampering with your battery at all? I’m really not worried about a dash camera recording when my car is parked , just when driving

    • @BrianGreenstone
      @BrianGreenstone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, turn parking mode off and the dash cam will simply power down once it decides you are parked. The problem is that it may not ever decide you are parked. My advice is to plug it in to a circuit that cuts power when the car turns off. That way there’s no question about it.

      @@BrianGreenstone ahhh okay thanks a lot for the help ,I just didn’t know if it was necessary to get the hard wire kit if I wasn’t worried about parking mode? it wouldn’t turn off when the car is turned off if plugged into the cigarette lighter?

    • @JettaRedIII
      @JettaRedIII 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stud21 If your cigarette lighter socket powers off when your ignition is off, then the cam will turn off. I think the point of hardwiring is also to hide all the wires. My car actually has a 12V socket in the passenger footwell where I could use that and run the wiring along the windshield and A frame pillar, but opted for the hardwire kit because I want to keep the recording and AUDIO going in the event I get pulled over by the police and am told to turn my car off. That way I have a recording of time, location, and conversation with the police, if necessary.

      I'd be nervous about connecting to the ODB. You're better off hardwiring to the fuse box rather than risking damaging something serious by going thru the ODB.

      I don’t remember what that camera’s specs were offhand, but some dash cams will work on only 5 V, while others need more. I do not remember if the USB-C port on that was only a data port, or if it can be powered off of it as well.

    I installed mine today. The dash cam comes with a unique mounting method. You attach a clear square screen to your windshield and then the camera adhesive mount sticks to it. Bottom line? It should peel right off with zero adhesive residue when removing the mount if you sell your vehicle. The box contains two clear windshield mounts.
