The landing is not called crabing, It's a crosswind approach and landing. Crab is just the term for flying in a direction that isn't directly forward like Les said, we crab all the time. The simple answer is this: ailerons to control lateral movement (left/right) and rudder to control where the plane is pointing (longitudinal axis). Also known as ailerons for centerline, nose with your toes.

Being a pilot is no mean feat. In general I think being a pilot is fascinating particularly if you fly widebody aircraft like B787, B777, A350, etc and then the superjumbo aircraft like the A380. Not that of course flying a B737 or an A320 narrowbody is nothing. Landing a plane in strong windy conditions with crosswinds must be one of a pilot's biggest challenges.

These info graphic videos are so bad, 1:43 explain they use flight controls to make sure the aircraft is in the perfect landing position, yet showing two hands pushing buttons on the dash.

The best landings are with a headwind so strong you start to move backwards relative to the ground. Maybe try landing on a helipad that way 😂

Tell the Alaska airline guys who plowed their landing gear through their wing this week that this is the way to do it.

This is the way to do it. I you don’t flare it isn’t matter what technique you used. Wing down is far more likely to bust a gear leg and rip a wingtip.
