22:57 the ship featured here is from the Hollywood horror film "Event Horizon" which was written by a 40k fan but didn't have the rights.
So basically it's nearly a 40k film but not officially one. Essentially as you know humans travel through the warp, aka hell, to reach other stars. Now you may not know in 40k the Imperium has a force field, called a Gellar field that mostly stops demons from entering their ships (it doesn't always work though... because 40k is grim dark). The premise of the film is what if the prototype -warp ship- wormhole ship didn’t have that -gellar- force field and the ship returned back to Earth and was possessed by demons. So the rescue crew/investigation team is now precieving these demons in a more Christianity way than an 40k way to make it just different enough to not require licensing rights from games workshop.
A lot of fans consider Event Horizon a prequel film to 40k, others don't.

Trazyn is a Necron overlord and Chief Archivist. Think of him kind of like a less malevolent Brainiac. His aim is to chronicle and preserve the history of the universe and he does so by collecting various things from art and religious artifacts to weapons and vehicles to living flora and fauna to sentient beings, all of which he puts in stasis-field dioramas where they remain permanently frozen in time. He, like many other Necrons, seek to return their race to bodies of flesh once more and he has a bitter rivalry with another Necron called Orikan (sort of a time-travelling seer) who wants to ascend the Necrons to being like the C'tan were (beings of pure energy).

It's often believed in 40k mythology, that the battle between the Emperor and the Void Dragon became the myth of Saint George the Dragon Slayer. So the Emperor is, in a way, Saint George. Though the name might be a later change to the battle to christianize the tale and not the name he had back then.
He's also rumored to have been Alexander the Great (this one has a lot of supporting info, or at the very least the Emperor was a big fanboy of Alexander), Merlin, and at one point in 40k lore, also Jesus (that last one is old lore from 1987 though). But if a human showed up (male or female because the Emperor can alter how we see him), who guided people, then disappeared/died quickly there after. Odds are it was the Emperor.
The Emperor also is confirmed to have lead the forces that destroyed the Tower of Bable. As it was being built by Chaos cultists. The Emperor wanted to study it to understand the enemy, his lead general feared the knowledge so backstabbed the Emperor and destroyed it when he was resurreting.
The Emperor though never sought vengeance for this. The Emperor seemed to always have a sift spot for the perpetuals, other humans who didn't age and healed/resurrected like himself. As his stated goal is to guide all humanity to become like this, then not only conquer the galaxy but the entire universe. The Primarchs were created because most other perpetuals feared the Emperor's ambition and methods.

Well, the thing with Void Dragon is he/it (being one of C'tan gods) can not be killed, so he was trapped in a special device invented by the necrons, later escaped it, then discovered and defeated by the Emperor, then locked again somewhere on Mars. The irony is - Mars, being Imperium's cradle of technology and industry, makes little to zero technological progress during 10k years after Horus heresy, and the Dragon's name is "Eater of knowledge".

@@shadowfax-p3y I think there are lore implications (obviously earlier vague implications mixed with later retcons, as GW loves), where Big E buried it on Mars on purpose. Basically, the original story is just a reference to the legend of Saint George and the Dragon. But, there are lore bits suggesting Big E knew it could help advance technology as much as it consumed knowledge, potentially driving the Dark Age of Technology. That, and also enough about the Age of Strife that Mars would be the most likely place for that advanced tech to survive, if not all of the losses and ultimate ramifications.

When the Necrons were created through bio-transference, the majority of their souls were devoured by the C-Tan, possibly making it so they could never return to flesh and blood. Early editions of Necron had human turned Necron units called Pariahs, before the major lore shift (ie the Necron high lords started awakening and taking over). Created by Szeras, the Necron responsible for the bio-transference process, who wants to ascend further into a C-Tan like being.
Necron weapons are deatomizers, making Tyranid assaults on their worlds huge losses, as they are left with no biomass to replenish, which includes their own corpses. Inquistors found some Necron worlds during the first Tyranid invasion, when investigating some worlds in the path of destruction that were left "untouched". But dealing with all the other problems in the universe, and being split into two major groups, the Necrons are not united enough to properly purge the galaxy of the Tyranid threat.
Finally, Cadia had a bunch of Necron tech designed to contain the warp, hence why Abby blew it up. All Necron tech eventually repairs itself., So the system coming back online in a weird net like structure among the debris of the planet would be interesting, but I doubt the writers at Games workshop has thought that far ahead.

I may be entirely wrong in this, but my impression about the Necrontyr's conflict with the Old Ones isn't entirely one-sided. Like even this does a good job of maintaining the perspective of them being simply a sad product of fate that got screwed over when just asking for help... BUT, iirc, the Necrontyr were already a sanctimoniously bitter interstellar species that chose annihilation and g*nocide of everything they encountered that had a better start than they did, including life that showed the mere potential for intelligent life under better conditions than their own. Like... The Old Ones didn't just deny them for nothing, they denied them because they had showed for a long time that their "foreign policy" was basically jealousy-driven annihilation. They turned them down because they were genuinely awful, not because escaping their homeworld didn't save them from the uber-cancer it gave them. Like, they made the Eldar with what the Necrontyr wanted, it wasn't just them being random assholes for no reason. Lol

The void dragon was indeed fought and defeated by the Emperor though it was a C'tan it was originally imprisoned by the Necrons deep in Mars but after a time the prison broke down freeing the void dragon which went to Terra to feed where the Emperor defeated it and fixed up the prison on Mars putting it back where it belonged. This is why the Necrons who know of this are actually wary of the Emperor or respectful of him as he did what they could do which makes him in their eyes a peer not something beneath them. Warhammer 40k is very realistic in the span of it's history for the setting and it's depth as well as scant details on some events that shaped the whole of the universe because no one lived to write it all down or it was just so long ago no culture or record fully remains. It's like real human history and how we came from tribal hunters to living in early cities, it is lost to time and we can only speculate as to how exactly it happen like many things in 40k which gives the setting an almost real aspect once you dig into the lore.

  • @randomdude8202
    @randomdude8202 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

Warp just started with our universe, as a simple parallel dimension. Its psychic properties probably emerged with intelligent life.
Technically, you cant kill chaos completely since they are born from emotions. But while chaos gods are made from emotions, they are not the source of those emotions, just a product of those emotions. So you can get rid of them. Although something similar can emerge to replace them eventually. At least, you can limit the impact if you are ready for the new warp "god" entities.
Ctan shards cannot be destroyed, and one of them end up on Earth after Necron war in haven. Then Emperor run into it in the Libyan deserts, and "killed" it. And locked it at Mars. The emperor was born in Turkey close to Sakarya river around 2500 BC, so this was After that, but probably before Roman empire even formed. My own speculation, but I think old shamans were the ones who made Gobeklitepe, sacrificing themselves, to form the emperor there.
Mechanicum was formed after the collapse, after cybernetic revolt and age of strife. But they managed to put things together before Earth, and thought Earth was a lost cause. And Kinda started their own empire. "Stealing" the human tech Trazyn mentions. After Emperor rise, he convinced them to join. And after heresy, they split and become Adeptus Mechanicus.
Necron awakening was planned far later date around M41, but some awakened early by mistake, like Trazyn. So it was probably a coincidence he was there.
Emperor had some kind of deal with chaos gods, willingly or not, but not much is known about it. Did he made a deal, and tricked them? Was all of these part of that deal?
Asdrubael Vect was a slave in Commorragh as said, and rise to power by trickery and deception. He lured some humans in Commorragh revealing an entrance for a short time, and humans killed old leaders. He used this opportunity to rise to power after everything settled. Kinda how some takeovers happen today with some countries.
Cadia had an ancient Necron artifact, called pylons. They are capable of completely cutting off the warp, or enhance it. It was a project of Necrons to cut warp off our universe on many planets like Cadia, but later dropped when they went to sleep. Unfortunately for us, at full power, they also turn humans to vegetables. Trazyn actually helped humans to understand this tech and defend Cadia by the way, but it was too late.
Necrons are a perfect counter for Tyranids, so Nids usually avoid Necron worlds. Necrons have no biomass, and their weaponry take matter apart at atomic level, effectively destroying biomass. Necron leader, the Silent King, went to other galaxies before his kind awakened, and he thinks Nids are a serious threat, since he wants his people to become biological lifeforms again eventually.

    • @sagittariusa9012
      @sagittariusa9012 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The pylons were a project by the c'tan and not the necrons. They wanted to cut off the warp. I think even the void dragon was the one that created this technology. He was also the "tech genius" of the C'tan.

The Mechanicum split along ideological lines at the outset of the Horus Heresy.
There were those who did not believe that the Emperor was the Omnissiah made flesh, and harboured animosity towards him and the Imperium. They chafed under strict rules ordained by the Emperor, such as not to dabble in forbidden knowledge, and believed Mars should once again become it's own entity, it's own empire, separate from the Imperium of Man.
The then Fabricator General and his supporters sided with Horus, who had promised to free Mars from the Imperium, gifting them access to a vault containing heretical knowledge, the same knowledge the Emperor had forbidden.
Those who sided with Horus came to be known as the Dark Mechanicum.

This will be a long comment and I am sure others can explain better so here goes: To answer some of your questions. The Labrinth is a Containment cell for the C-tan void dragon on mars. The canyons where it resides tends to drive people mad. It is monitored by a silent vigil however. The schism within the mechanicum occurred over both spiritual and practical reasons. Both reasons have to do with a condition of the Olympus treaty that required the mechanicus to seal an ancient depository with ancient knowledge. Horus promised and delivered on the keys to this ancient knowledge that the God emperor thought too dangerous for the mechanicum of mars to have. This would create the dark mechanicum. In order for Vect to have his black cabal to take Commoragh, he conducted raids to collect slaves and prizes and was successful in luring a space marine chapter to his raids. Space are very tough and desirable prizes to the dark eldar and as a result the noble of the dark city took the strike cruiser I think (can't recall the exact craft) from Vect which he gave to them simply because the librarian on board transmitted the location of the gate Vect was using for his raids and more space marines showed up killing the dark eldar nobles and recover the survivors. The resulting power vacuum allowed Vect to rise to the top.

He's kind of doing this but Trazyn is kind of a kleptomaniac nerd and it's from his perspective so there is a lot of ego in it. He likes to stealing entire armies or notable people from history to put in his collection. Just he doesn't wait until those people die and he might decide you are interesting enough to collect if you're dealing with him. But even though he's a dork, he's a dork with tech that borders on magic. Also, when he refers to the Mechanicus or whoever stole artifacts 9/10 he's saying they hide their own stuff and really all people objects, and place are his by default so they should just let him have them. I think the Battle Fleet Gothic Armada 2 Faction trailer (great trailer if you got like 2 min you should check it out) kind of summed up his personality the best, "I watched beleaguered populations of dying planets struggle tirelessly in the futile pursuit of betterment, or prosperity, or...survival. And yet, no matter how fleeting their existence I welcome all to a place in my carefully curated collection." peak Trazyn right there.
But in all there is a lot of speculation and fan theory in here. Plus GW constantly retcons things. Like the reason the Necrons went into hiding and the orks got messed up was the Enslaver Plague where these creatures called Enslavers burst out of the war all over the galaxy. Enslavers are these non-daemon creatures that live in the warp and are capable of dominating the minds of a vast amount of creatures at once. So the Eldar noped out and left the Krok to fight them and that devolved them to the orks. but I guess this didn't happen anymore. Also really wish GW would use those things more. Also the Dark Age of technology is kind of vague and some of this seems out of order a bit.
He's being a bit arrogant but really the Star Gods and Chaos Gods are more of less even. At least power scaling wise. Just how you hurt them is different and they can grow given the situation. Like the Chaos Gods are really an issue because you had 2 races killing each other galaxy wide for millions of years while 1 is desperately throwing magic everywhere. So yeah the gods of death, war, and magic became a problem. Also messed up the warp bad. But also the Necrons do have tech that clearly hurts chaos and the warp so he can be right too.
Something he didn't mention was part of the reason humanity fell apart was supply lanes. Like how many cities where you live would be able to sustain themselves for centuries without being able to get outside food? A lot of these worlds needed imports to survive, and they can't get them because travel was cut off.
To be clear about Horus, when the Emperor killed him he destroyed his very soul. So yes he left a corpse, but you can't really be more dead than Horus. Which is impressive because Sanguineous, the brother that died, his soul endures 10,000 years later.
Not huge on the Dark Eldar lore although just got done with a book about them (yes it's Dark Eldar or Drukhari). But when you're looking at Dark Eldar society, it's all about backstabbing, plotting, and survival of the fitness and Asdrubael Vect is the undisputed king of that game. He's the guy where he has so many plots within plots that everyone dances to his tune without knowing it and such everyone is terrified of him because of it. I think the event he is referring is when a Salamander ship, the Foehammer was captured and Vect brought a ship full of space marines into Commorragh. Just for context I know they call it the Dark City but this place is more of a solar system in size. There is captured stars in it. But anyways, Dark Eldar being Dark Eldar (aka stupid) thought boarding a ship full of space marines was a good idea and space marines being space marines started killing the space elfs. The Marines were able to send for help, an even bigger ship crashed into the city with 2 more chapters sending 2 more ships into the fray and they got the ship out, getting everyone through the webway to home. But all in all you look at the end result it's interesting that Vect was the one that brought the ship in. Also, interesting that Vect didn't join in on the fun, and all Vects enemies happened to either die or get weakened in the attack. Also, interesting that someone left the door open for the marines to get out and Vect in all just sat back with a wine glass and watched. That's basic Vect. But glad you're getting into 40k enjoy.
Also, not really sure on straight up Eldar books, I got the audio book for Jain Zar: The Storm of Silence. It was pretty good, it goes through Jain Zar's life which she was there for the birth of Slaanesh so you get to see life for an Eldar from a bit before their fall to basically the end of M.41

18:39 they have killed powerful beings indeed which are the old ones but they also killed a single c'tan and learnt it was unwise to do so thanks to the c'tan being a physical incarnation of universal law and concepts like the nightbringer Aza'gorod represents death as an example but the one they killed didn't really have a huge impact on the galaxy only the necrons and other machine like creatures, his name was Llandu'gor also known as the flayer and when he died, with the last moments of his life he placed an powerful curse and virus onto the ones that killed him along with a powerful quote which goes like "To those who have turned their faces away. To those who are faithless and wretched in their jealousies. To those who have denied us. To those who have denied me. I will wreak vengeance. I will wrench your souls and break your bones. I will cast hunger through your accursed existence. Down the eons, you will not forget. I will grant you this gift from love turned aside and make you like me, break you in my image as you have broken me. I shall cast the fear of myself into you and all of your kind. I am Llandu'gor. I am the hunger. I am the flayer, and from this moment, you shall be too."

I find it odd that the C’tan that invents tech, would be involved in destroying knowledge. The name doesn’t even fit as it sleeps underneath Mars, saturating the Mechanicus with dreams of technology

This video has many facts but also many especulations. In truth, no one knows the origin of The Immaterium. Some say it is a natural place that was created together with the material world, just an accident. Others say it may have been created as an echo of life, as all living things have psychic energy, no matter how weak or hard to notice. Some others say it was created by the Old Ones, because they were naturally gifted with tremendous psychic powers.
But who knows, really. All we know is that the C'tan, who were probably the first "inhabitants" of the galaxy, hated the warp and therefore they hated the Old Ones.

In many ways the Drukhari are the original Aeldari. They refer to themselves as the "true kin" and basically continue the ways of the Aeldari that lead to Slaanesh's birth. Just now those same vile acts keep Slaanesh (appease her in the short term?) from stealing their souls.
