In the 80s, light years before the internet, I stalked this man. If he had a party anywhere NYC I went. Uptown cats wouldn't party in BK and Queens but I followed him. Later I got to meet him when I did a hairshow at Ebonese his unisex hair salon.30 years later I continue to stalk him in NYC and abroad last saw him in November... This man is THE BEST PARTY DJ EVER A TRUE LEGEND

WOW!!! I SPECIFICALLY remember watching Capri on Verzuz and saying "Damn I think Scratch wants smoke, but Kapri is going CRAZY." who knew the actually drama that was happening behind the scenes. In my experience, being authentic breeds hate, but in necessary places. Any and all hate Capri has received honestly sounds like it simply came from him staying true to himself, and when presented the opportunity without effort he still shined. Legendary.
My father used to manage Kid in the 90's. Its cool to be hearing these stories and understanding how it started.

One of the first DJ’s in hip hop that I heard of was Kid Capri talking too street dudes when I was younger and watching this I know he is a real person and has a big heart. Big props for that man.

I remember seeing an artist (in their prime), that has passed, and the crowd wasn't really rocking with the artist. So the artist went off stage, Kid Capri came out and brought the crowd back to life, and the artist came back out to perform.

Years ago we did an event at Club Oxygen in Coconut Groove with D-12. They didn't show up because Benzino was calling people sending them death threats, but Kid Capri was there and jumped on the 1's and 2's for a short and sweet set.

If I live to 80 years old I'll always remember the beginning of the pandemic and the first night NYC was shut down. I missed the first half hour of the KRS and Kid Capri show that night arguing with my wife about rushing home like everybody else. Kid And KRS tore it down it I wasn't missing that for nothing! Crazy story. I grew up in Jamaica Queens but moved to NC for my senior year of HS. My brother was a DJ in NY. We had a correction officer/thug name Tim from my hood and he brought DMX to my crib. I moved to NC in 91 so this was between 89/90. DMX did Spellbound at my house before K. Solo dropped. I remembered this so vividly because me and my brother looked at each other because we never heard anything like this before. Fast forward to NC. K Solo dropped Spellbound and I wouldn’t rock with it because I felt like he stole it. I used to tell people this in NC and of course it was hey the NY boy story not true. I would tell this story to anyone who would listen. I would say a dude name DMX wrote that. I couldn’t remember the face, but I remembered the name until I saw his face in the Source magazine in Unsigned Hype for Born Loser. Time goes by and Get At Me Dog is in a Clue tape I believe. One of the people I told the story too calls me like yo. The dude DMX you were talking about go a song called Get at me dog and on the original version before they cut when he said Solo you can hear him say “that nigga KSolo can smd”. Everybody started reaching out to me like yo you were telling the truth. I always wanted to meet X again to tell him this story and see if he remembered it.
Lord Jamar and Just-Ice knew DMX from back in the 80's and they said they heard X doing Spellbound before K-Solo. Lord Finesse battled X way back in the days and X used that style, and an underground rapper named Percee P confirmed it in an interview with X as well. He was known in the Bronx and Yonkers/Westchester County for Spellbound style
@@bxdale83 that’s dope. I remember Percee P well. I was really big on lyrics back then. I was one of those who read the album credits to see if the rappers wrote their own shit. I never copped a K.Solo album because of that.
