I used to watch your video everytime whenever I feel like not eating and also when want to eat big. It's been many times watching your videos. I just love it
It's funny how many people will baulk at eating 'raw live' sea food, but have no qualms about eating sushi because it is considered fashionable and sophisticated. As you say, the acid in the lemon/lime and chilli will pretty much kill any bugs. That and regular alcohol and yoghurt intake. I worked in rural North East Romania for a few years starting immediately after the overthrow of Communism. The sanitary conditions would make Pattaya seem pristine by comparison. We were fed by the locals. The only people who experienced any stomach issues were the ex pats who decided to ignore the local custom and practice and forgo the daily fresh made yoghurt with breakfast accompanied by a shot of home made 'vodka'. As soon as they started accepting local habits problems vanished. Same working in Nigerian bush country too. Keep up the good work. I am learning so much. Sort of prepping for retirement - hopefully to Thailand.
You are fast becoming one of my favorite Thai and SE Asia vloggers. Can’t wait to get out there next year. Might give the dancing shrimp a miss, though. The water in the tank must be full of dancing microbes 🦠!
@03:51 Jason: You keep eating stuff like this, you will grow your channel fast. Jason, a request. Can you do a short video on the local fruits. I have seen some in the past by other who visit but they don't focus on the fruits that much and pausing the videos doesn't help. I will also like to see a video on the bird market but I don't think that's your style. xD Thumbs up.
Great video Jason, the food looked amazing, dancing shrimp wow,you looked like you needed that smoothy after, maybe carry some pepto bismol,it's great that it stays open late👌😀👍
I want to try but I'm afraid and curious at the same time. im not very comfy eating raw ... But it's in my bucket list when I got chance to visit Thai land.
wow they will jump in your stomach what is MSG?...looks delirious though love spicy food cleanses the sinuses uuuhh passion fruit smoothy love passion fruit yes skip plastic too much floats in our Oceans some places islands the size of Europe of plastic cheers...Peter
Aroy Aroy! I love your market and the dancing shrimp salad looks so interesting. Would love to visit the market, we are tossing up coming to either Bangkok or Pattaya in February. Thanks again for a fantastic video! :)
@@JasonRuppVlog We will see, had a quick look at accommodation a few weeks ago but have been flat out trying to get all our work done before the kids arrive. :)
I could spend the whole day at the market and just people watch. Salad looked good a little to spicy for me though. Maybe with about 1/8 the chili you had I could handle.
It’s an umame-enhancing flavoring salt invented in Japan in 1909 and used widely in East Asian cuisines. Starting around the 70s, Americans started claiming MSG in Chinese restaurants were making people ill, but there isn’t any scientific evidence for it. Too much sodium in general can be bad for you obviously, but there’s nothing especially bad about MSG.
@@ModernEphemera in my early teens I remember the adults in fam were claiming msg was in the Chinese buffet food so you feel full fast. I never understood(still don't) what they meant. So basically I was deprived of a seasoning for no valid reason.🤦 Ugh my family ... misguided af Also what is umame?
@@twistedmindssweettea Umami is the more common spelling… it’s the thick meaty taste you get from meat, or a fat portobello mushroom. MSG is a salt that accentuates that flavor profile. Too much salt is bad for you,, but besides that, there’s nothing especially bad about it. I suppose it might make you feel fuller but there’s nothing evil about it. Most of the American anti-MSG stuff had pretty racist overtones about it
It is good but it's better if they cut off the head of the shrimps first. Also suppose to eat with sticky rice, otherwise you will have a big stomach ache especially if it's spicy.
Nope. Couldn’t do it. I think I would have to stick to fruits and veggies to survive on if I ever went there. I enjoyed how you went live the other day, please do more!
She said those dancing shrimps came from rive above the dam in Isan province. A word of advice, if you ever want to eat raw Thai food next time, to be on the safe side, get a can of Coke to settle your stomach. It'll help a lot for someone's not used to Thai food.

I don't even remember having a full head of hair anymore been bald for long and don't wanna look like Donald trump wearing those terrible wigs😁
MSG is not bad at all though, its pretty much everywhere, its naturally found in tomatoes, meat and seaweed, for example. Its also used in every dish in Asia, pretty sure the sauce you ate contained MSG.
@AA Sharp For me personally it has nothing to do with cuisine from another culture. The only thing which I didn't enjoy watching is, the shrimps dying in that sauce. I'm well aware that every piece of meat or fish we eat, was alive at some point. Seeing those little fellas slowly die before my eyes while getting eaten, is another thing tho. Atleast for me. And to answer your question, yes my empathy applies for insects, too. Anything else you'd like to know :)?
