You are helping to solve one of the biggest problems with modern society by teaching the next generation how to work with their hands on something other than a game controller. You will never starve or be homeless if you can fix things!
What you are teaching Austin is something he will remember his whole life . Your patience with him is special. My dad bought a 54 same as this and my job was wash it on Sunday and be able to drive it around in the driveway which was pretty good size. Take care Brent, .........Don
Thanks for thanking us for watching, Brent. Trust me - we should thank YOU for the incentive and guidance you give us each and every day. At age 80 I reflect back to my hot rodding days as I watch you work. You consistently look at what is to me is an impossible task and simply shrug and chuckle saying "Oh well. let's get started". It shames me sometimes to admit that even though I enjoyed accomplishing difficult tasks I only tackled them because I couldn't afford hiring someone else to do the dirty work. You dive right in with a grin on your face. God bless you.
The way you attack rust repair is a massive lesson in being an adult and doing all the necessary's steps to get the job done right. Not a glamourous task for sure, vacuum, cut, wire, brush, template, cut metal, trim, tack, weld, seal, paint. But the way you attack the task is a real life lesson in how a Craftsman Hot Rodder handles the mundane critical necessary for success. If you young protégé' is watching he should have paid you for the lesson in sheet metal repair. Absolutely outstanding video, worth the price of admission. I want to help you so much. Shake your hand and pat you on the back. Job well done young feller. Dennis in Virginia
A Sunday video! A treat for Carona and I! Everyone forgets the NON Tri-Fives! 🙂 Good to see the Miller Lite Boxes! #millerlite Good job Austin! I loved seeing how you utilized every inch of not so good steel!
One guy said you teaching the next gen how to work with their hands hell you just taught this 70 year old man how to hand make a beed roll ill need that on my 76 c10 thanks for the schooling 👍
well Brent, that was a lot of work, and the important thing, the Objective was achieved !!! 👍🏼 cheers !!! 🍺🍺🍺🍺and at the same time , Austin got some more welding practice , another win👍🏼
Good for Austin, since I’m sure he’s got lots of rot in the floors on his car. Looks like the the sills are better on the passenger side. I know not having your bead roller is like starting over again!
You should have titled this "Creative bead rolling!" "I thought I'd be done by now." Oh, man how many times have I said that! A very entertaining video regardless! That's why I keep coming back.
For a man who does'nt like body work you make it look easy , but you also teach Austin how to weld panels it will come as second nature to him . The 54 is coming along and will be a treat to drive when complete . Thank you for a great video , until next time , take care and God Bless you all , Stuart in Ontario ..
Not bad 😂👍 best way to learn get in there and do it, you make it seem easy to keep these old classics alive without forking out huge amounts of $, Great channel M8🤗
Really appreciate your enthusiasm for moving the projects forward even for the tasks that are not necessarily your favourites. Eg the floor looks great!!
I like the 54 Belair even more so than the 55 thru 57 Chevys.. it’s just a neat old car…. The floors look pretty darned solid and I thought the improvised beads will serve the purpose. I’ve said this before, I love the sheet metal work you do….
i also love the "its not that bad" comment. Manitoban living in southern California here, and the mechanics down here would literally faint if they saw that.
Brent your fabricating on the flooring was not too shabby considering you dont have the correct tools. Thanks for sharing and giving my week a kick start the Brent way. Take care.
Thank you for the video. I didn't have all the perfect tools and metal doing my 55 chevy truck but it is solid and I drive it everyday. this video was very encouraging. God bless
I like watching the sheet metal repair videos. In my younger days I did that kind of work on my trucks except I didn't have a welder. So I would fastem the patches with screws and pop rivets.
Awesome job welding in Austin,,, the only way to get better is time with the hood down doin it 👍🏻 😎 don't be disappointed with the blow through,,,, you can't weld rust,,, it's just a fact 😉 stay at it bro 👍nice job on the floor ribs Brent 👍🏻 I was thinking rod in panel 1 glad you tried it for panel 2, if the iron worker was running you could have crushed it in with the same setup under the lever arm above the shears
You could also show people a way to do it without a welder that would be a cool video. Love your videos. I love how you don’t spend a ton of money buying floor pans when there’s no need to
Brent, the floor is fine..As you've said, meh, once it's painted/ carpeted, who's gonna see it. You did VERY well, and you used minimal tools!! Pat yourself on the back!!! Im trying to, but my arm doesn't reach that far. Ha ha!! Be well, keep at it, your doing GREAT!!!
Hey Hi again Halfass Costoms Brent and Ester from the D Michigan hey the motor city 😊 thanks for your time and video how to much appreciated 👍 and Brent your video really floored me, well you more than me 😅😊❤
at 2:09 in the video, you made laugh. its just the way you said "it's gonna suck" made me think yeah, it's gonna suck replacing the windshield. I second that emotion.
"I'm all over the place here. . ." I was 35 before I knew that was ADHD. To your credit, you keep moving forward on something, anything. I often just stall out.
Hey Brent see you got the kid welding really cool, hey at least you got floors now like the 54 also like 55 and 56 a bit shorter tail end on them than 57 hey if you haven't checked out rat rod Bob yet check it he does a lot of cool builds see you on the next one
Hello Brent have you ever tried a bolster chisel for making floor ribs. It needs to be blunt. If you don’t no what I mean a brick chisel from the building trade. Good to see Austin enjoying his work. Take care cheers from England.
Working with what you've got, using your ingenuity reminds me of my times using basic tools to do what I could as a kid. Enjoyed. Thank you for sharing...
You doing the floor brings back long time memories. For years I've just had 2 bed rails, a vice, hammers and random chunks of metal making floor pans. Only in the last 3 years I've been lucky to afford a beadroller. Still help friends patch their floors but most of the time i don't have the beadroller around and still land up doing it the old way.
Hi Brent I never seem to see fly presses used in shops over in Canada or America give it a google and see what they can do . Pressing those floor grooves would be done in 5 mins flat dead easy..... so many uses and easy to make your own tooling.
A friend of mine made a die set for his press to make those beads. He welded half a 3/8" pipe to a steel block and a 1/4" piece of steel rod to another block and used thos to press the beads in.
Amazing work, I respect all the work you did on the floors. Glad your helper was able to weld a little. Even when you hate doing that floor it’s our job to motivate you by watching and commenting. Great job Brent. Like, share and get that bead roller. Framers better be there tomorrow (Monday).
I find it funny that the guys who are the best at what they do hate it the most. This body is in fairly good condition so a few welds and bit of hammering makes for a fairly good ride down the road. I am sorta surprised as I thought you said this would be one of the nicer builds. I see nothing wrong with how its going so its gonna be fine
CowDog: "Hey, I see you have a Miller Lite case, is it Miller time? Can we have food with Miller time?" HAHAHA, love me some CowDog. And don't kid yourself, those floors look great for a driver.

Amen brother.
@@keithharden7844I agree 1000% !!! Working in the REAL world..
Great watching grandsons learning to fix stuff. Good job.
Plus the other problem. So many people would of thrown that tin away.
100% true, sir.
...and I just subscribed to your channel.
I love cigar box guitars and the blues music that is created by them.

One guy said you teaching the next gen how to work with their hands hell you just taught this 70 year old man how to hand make a beed roll ill need that on my 76 c10 thanks for the schooling 👍
Great to see the 54 back in the shop. Austin's car also moving along well. Be good and take care my friend. 👍👍👍
"We're going to BEER CAD it first" That had me rolling! Love it
Loved the crude/old school/burned up metal floor repairs. Matches the car just fine.
Good luck with the windshield, that last one went pretty good.
well Brent, that was a lot of work, and the important thing, the Objective was achieved !!! 👍🏼 cheers !!! 🍺🍺🍺🍺and at the same time , Austin got some more welding practice , another win👍🏼
Glad to.see the younger generation with an interest in old cars as well as learning how to do all phases of restoring/fixing up/moderizing
It’s a nice way to show people what you can do when you don’t have machines
Good for Austin, since I’m sure he’s got lots of rot in the floors on his car. Looks like the the sills are better on the passenger side. I know not having your bead roller is like starting over again!
Great background music!!!👍🏾 Be Blessed 🙏🏽
from the Northwest, the Yakima valley, in Washington State,🙌🏽🕊️😇
Glad to see you teaching Austin and Ryder. Hope they end up with your energy for this kind of work.
One inspiring video after another!!! Thanks Brent!
You should have titled this "Creative bead rolling!"
"I thought I'd be done by now." Oh, man how many times have I said that!
A very entertaining video regardless! That's why I keep coming back.
Brent you are awesome especially because you are teaching your grandsons have to weld
For a man who does'nt like body work you make it look easy , but you also teach Austin how to weld panels it will come as second nature to him . I have a friend who lives in Cuba 🇨🇺 and he has a 54 which looks like it’s just come out of the factory.
The Halfass Kustoms videos I love, metal working magic!
Like the way you're delegating the work👍👌❤🇬🇧
Another great video on replacing rusted floors and educating kids on welding, Great job!
I like the 54 Belair even more so than the 55 thru 57 Chevys.. it’s just a neat old car…. The floors look pretty darned solid and I thought the improvised beads will serve the purpose. I’ve said this before, I love the sheet metal work you do….
I feel the same way. I love the early 50's Chevy's. He has another one out by the motor shead...
It will be nice when those missing tools are back and ready for use.
I don't even know what to say except that warchin these vids is such a win. Thanks.
54 stuff and things. Mostly things. Little nip at a time and soon, it's down the road. Win!
i also love the "its not that bad" comment. Manitoban living in southern California here, and the mechanics down here would literally faint if they saw that.
Like you said, it’s just floors. Old charred sheet metal for the win!
The old 54 is looking awesome.
Good for you for passing along a craft such as yours.
God bless
Yes as you said it's the floor but a job well done anyway.Great to see Austin going at it with the welder ,Great video sir Brent thank you for sharing
"just some pinholes", more like pinkyholes. Love the optimism!
The floors turned out great Brent considering how much rust there was.
I like watching the sheet metal repair videos. In my younger days I did that kind of work on my trucks except I didn't have a welder. So I would fastem the patches with screws and pop rivets.
Nice job!!..Very educational for me and Austin..They ain't teaching that in schools..Thanks for the entertainment..

Good name!
Brent, the floor is fine..As you've said, meh, once it's painted/ carpeted, who's gonna see it. You did VERY well, and you used minimal tools!! Pat yourself on the back!!! Im trying to, but my arm doesn't reach that far. Ha ha!!

Hey Hi again Halfass Costoms Brent and Ester from the D Michigan hey the motor city 😊 thanks for your time and video how to much appreciated 👍 and Brent your video really floored me, well you more than me 😅😊❤
Austin has a good teacher. I must remember the term "beer cad," and figure out where I can use that.
block of softwood and a piece of flat bar rounded on one end ;-) hammer in the lines
A Big thank from France.
It's a crude but solid fix and short of a full restoration it's perfect,
Love to see Panlo bossing u around
at 2:09 in the video, you made laugh. its just the way you said "it's gonna suck" made me think yeah, it's gonna suck replacing the windshield. I second that emotion.

Nice having some help Brent 👍 little by little 😂
Austin, you did VERY well!! Brent, your manual bead-roll came out just fine!
Nice shirt !!!
Hopefully we can include Canada in the rev-ilution...
Love your videos, bud !
Sending vibes that the new shop catches overdrive...
excellent and using metal for the floors from the old shop
More please young man !
Your floors came out good Brent, despite having a bead roller. It's a win!
Great work on the floors. Beads without a roller.....nice improv for sure. Be safe and stay well.
Hi Brent I never seem to see fly presses used in shops over in Canada or America give it a google and see what they can do . Pressing those floor grooves would be done in 5 mins flat
dead easy..... so many uses and easy to make your own tooling.
Helluva job Austin
Good luck to you
I've always used half round bar to make the flutes or stifiners in the floor on stiff ply great content brilliant footage
Brent, it was another fine video, I always learn something! Thanks
Kroil works amazing on old rusty bolts like that body mount bolt.
A friend of mine made a die set for his press to make those beads. He welded half a 3/8" pipe to a steel block and a 1/4" piece of steel rod to another block and used thos to press the beads in.
Looking awesome. Thank you for the lesson.
Sure enjoyed watching how you replaced the floors. 👍👍
Amazing work, I respect all the work you did on the floors. Glad your helper was able to weld a little. Even when you hate doing that floor it’s our job to motivate you by watching and commenting. Great job Brent.
Like, share and get that bead roller. Framers better be there tomorrow (Monday).
excellent Brent....hey Pablo...
Awesome as Always..really cool content Thx Guys.
Your hard yards are appreciated. Great content as always. Pretty good weld job by Austin
I find it funny that the guys who are the best at what they do hate it the most. This body is in fairly good condition so a few welds and bit of hammering makes for a fairly good ride down the road. It’s quite good painting and sealing swell
CowDog: "Hey, I see you have a Miller Lite case, is it Miller time? Can we have food with Miller time?" HAHAHA, love me some CowDog. And don't kid yourself, those floors look great for a driver.
Hey you got to do what it takes. You got to improvise. Get all right. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦🐕
Well the 54 is coming along I think the floor is work is fine had a little bit of sealer Some undercoating you'll never know it
