Rough Collies are the BEST!!! I grew up with a German Shepard and she was fantastic, great guard dogs and ferociously loud!! Collies don't usually look mean, infact quite loveable with all that fur & fluff. They will bark at anything to let you know something is going on that shouldn't be!! They are very curious and like to do lots of investigating, searching, sniffing and maybe a little sneezing. They are a lot of fun when you take the time to get to know their personality & habits.
Oh I’m SO glad you said that. Tomorrow I pick up my first ever rough Collie too! This is exciting for me! It’s been 14 years since I’ve had a new dog to love for life. Pray I can do this! 💝

In her mature years she went to a family. I remember doing agility before it was recognized I also did a obedience and confirmation
Do you breed any collies in the US that are this fast and agile? I am an old time collie lover, and competed with a small, brilliant female in the '90s, and now compete with border collies in agility and the only collies I see in agility are as slow as mud. Of course, they're almost invariably wonderful dogs, and I often say that I will someday find another truly athletic collie (like Hopsinka above). Thoughts? A smart, driven, 50-55 lb, lighter coated, somewhat short coupled female might do extremely well if she could move like this.
@@michaelfortunato1860 I use too. I had beautiful champion's. In fact I remember when the corna virus broke out in dogs. What I did to save them with the help of medical teams and universities. There are some beautiful rough collies and smooth that I like overseas. Hopefully you'll find that all collies are intelligent. Learn about the breed from several reputable people not a couple. Albert Paulson Terhune Lad a dog book and many others. Rare his place was in New Jersey help set up AKC with J.P. Morgan the banker. Amazing history. Remember competition can be mean. You want to have fun and a happy dog. Just like you there all different. A dog will pick you. Enjoy be patient and loving. They do not live as long as us.

I have my first rough and NO WAY can I ever have another dog! Smart, kind, sweet, easy to teach, good inside and loves kids.

I have a 15-week-old, and she's driving me nuts--super-high energy, chewing everything, biting my St. Bernard hard. I hope things get better soon.
