I went down the exact same path getting away from iphone, and was almost sold on Punkt. I just couldn't deal with the texting, of which I do a fair amount. That led me back to BlackBerry.

Yes the texting is rough. I do a lot of texting in two languages and it was a struggle to switch easily. Nothing beats texting on a BlackBerry.

    Would you recommend your phone?

If you have 2g service then yes I would recommend the Punkt MP01. It works great as a basic call and text only phone.

The only problem I have with Punkt is the price, the price for me is just not justifiable for such a device.
My friend like me prefers the simple things in life which is why we both chose the minimalistic approach by both ditching our smartphone slabs as we both looked at
    1. The cost
    2. Health implications on things such as eyes and wellbeing
    3. Time wasted
    4. Privacy and security
So my friend he purchased a Punkt Mp01 and I had ago with it I just couldn't justify the cost of the thing anyway after 3-4 months the plastic charging port cover fell off and the power button also and he reported the battery life was not so good this is things I certainly wouldn't expect from a phone that costs this much.

I'm not surprised the plastic battery port fell off. This is an awful design and a pain to open just to charge the device. It's a shame the devices battery does not hold up in the long term. I'm afraid the MP02 is even worse in this regard. I really enjoy the design and simplicity. The device is not perfect and as far as I've seen no device is. But I agree that the price is too much for the quality.

@@LauraMalvoyante Yes I have heard/read that MP02 is not good either, I would love to know how much per unit these cost to build.
I agree your comment on longevity of course you kind of expect it if you pay say 100 euro sometimes you may be lucky and make it last a while, obviously with a dumb phone with intergraded internal battery it's not going to last as long as the hot swappable battery if parts are readily available for the unit.
When a dumb phone fails you have the knowledge you've not paid a lot for it and don't feel so bad, when it's something the price of a Punkt it's just ridiculous, I even read on the MP02 some users that bought the early builds can't get certain fixes/features/updates as the later build ones that to me is a disgrace in itself.
