    The way you develop is amazing. I think while studying chords, triads, modes... We should also train to think how to develop a solo. Start from notes, find a melody, go to triads but make them singing... Rhythm looks to be key in that, ,etc....

    Enjoyed listening to you playing over one chord, with all the various riffs you were playing over C7 just all blended together so well. I especially loved hiw you were bending into notes rather than just playing the note. You came up with so many ideas. What is the model of the Ibanez and approximate cost? Also since Ibanez made the guutar for you, what type of pickups are in it, sounds real good and looks nice with the toasted neck. I'm trying to find a guitar for a good price. Also what is the effect that you were holding at the beginning before the video started. Joe Satriani is one of the main guitarist that I listen. Have always found his playing to valuable . He sure has the knowledge of music theory and how to apply when necessary. But like you he doesn't need to think theory he just plays listening to what he's playing and enjoying himself.

      Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much! This one is AZ2204 I believe.. I cannot mention the details. Very private thing that Ibanez made it for me. It sounds so good!

    When you were playing chromatic, were you jumping strings but still playing in a chromatic way? Like 1st finger on E string next on 2bd string back to1st string and then to 2nd string again , but moving fingers in a chromatic fashion?

    • @TomoFujitaMusic
      @TomoFujitaMusic  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For chromatic... any fingerings, any strings as long as it sounds musical. Thank you!

    Great stuff! I just got lost at the beginning of the diatonic chords, though. How does C7 relate to F maj scale? I think I have the ingredients but don't know if I should grill it, deep fry it, bake it, or pan fry it.

    Hi Tomo! Love your instructional videos. I've been stuck in a guitar rut for many years, but your videos have given me an inspirational kick :-) In this video I'm a bit confused. For example, when playing the 'Mixolydian scale (R 2 3 4 5 6 b7) over C7', does mean 'C Mixolydian' or some other key? Thanks so much, and keep up the great work!

    As a sax player learning the guitar now, can confirm we're all about the diatonic figures! Learning to conceptualize shapes like a guitarist is a new and interesting perspective on music for me, but as Mr Fujita says it gets me locked into the shapes. I'm looking forward to practicing with one finger for a while to get out of that! Great lesson.

      So nice to hear that! I have learned these from other instrument! One funk-fusion Ensemble (When I was a student at Berklee) I really noticed that part, difference... So I started to think as Sax player or Pianist... think more key signatures and NOTES, NAMES than vertical easy SHAPES!! Thank you!!

    Great stuff, really appreciate it!. One way I've always though about the minor/major mixed pentatonic is using the third like you would the major/minor sixth on the ascending/ descending minor scales. Does that make any sense, or am I just excusing my desire to play both notes?

    Awesome..Thank you very much. I think you were channeling some Jerry Garcia today, especially Lydian flat 7 with the Octavio, and the bit with the quack. I feel like I just learned a magic trick. Simple once you know how (and spend hours “in front of the mirror” or in this case not looking at the fretboard, playing, listening) Q. If Tomo had a little lamb, would it be gray? JK! So important to have fun!

    Very cool lesson! The part about chord tones starting around 6:25 really cracked me up!! The answer is brilliant. Chromatics! I like to call it mixing major and minor pentatonics. Well, not as much alternating between them, but also actually blending and playing them together like a fruit smoothie. I like to call these scales crockpot blues licks. A perfect example can be found starting at 6:00 in this video. First time, you play major 6th, second time you play minor 7th. This is one of many things that can be mixed.
