- The rarest capture i think ill ever see in my life. Colour morph barramundi are extremely rare and will never have the same colour pattern, making them extremely unique and one of a kind. Massive thanks to Wade from Flow State Production for filming it all go down and Tyson Palmer who pulled off the perfect cast and landing the fish.

The reason behind the orange and the intense dark in the scales and fins is most likely due to a genetic mutation during embryo development and not so much as a colour morph like you say. The reason behind this is that morphs are already established in the populations, and are basically recessive genes waiting to find the right mate and be expressed, whereas these more rare "colour" schemes which aren't still present in the genetic pool of the fish population tent to come from mutations during development in chromatophores (pigment-containing cells). In this particular case, probably a mutation in xanthophores (yellow/orange) and melanophores (dark/brown) that led to overexpression of the pigment, enhancing their presence and giving that distinct coloration to the fish.

Smallmouth bass hit top water here in Nova Scotia 🇨🇦 just the same ...little different then barra’s Only 3-4 lbs. fish but shitload of fun on 8 lb line and ultra light spinning gear and as always the weed 🌲 be legal here in Canada....

Amazing, i have never seen a hybrid in the wild before.
I have seen them in Farms but that's it.
Fully crazy.
To be that colour and stocked into a dam and make it to that size is really incredible.
Depending on the size when put into the dam.
It sure would have stood out during it's growing cycle and to avoid predation is truly amazing.

Pretty amazing it’s lasted to this size in the wild. I remember pretty sure Brooksy showed on a farm they had a few big ones but in the wild that’s amazing!
