To be fair. He already secured his spot in hell after murdering a little kid with a rocket launcher, so at this point he has nothing else to lose and can just go all out evil.
Zangief is really one of the few characters I'd be willing to play with modern controls. Modern Zangief strikes me as borderline overpowered because of the fact he can do Spinning Piledriver and Borscht Dynamite with just a single button, and also his Level 3 super art can be done with just the special move button and the heavy attack button. I really like that, because trying to get that 720-degree motion has always been a bit of a pain in the ass for me.
I feel SPD and Borsch being a single button is fine as if you're using the shortcut for a 360 input, you can do it almost just as fast as Modern, and definitely as fast when buffering. The modern level 3 super is just cheating though, as there's no equivalent of a neutral lvl 3 super for Classic, you NEED to buffer the 720 somehow, closest equivalent being on wake-up, but that's a specific, disadvantageous position.

Gief is hands down the worst character I the game, it's not even close. Saying gief and overpowered in the same sentence should get the scrub hall of fame by default lol
Myth. I played him 40 matches in Modern, the next 200 in Classic. He's much better and much more efficient in Classic. The 360 and 720 are far easier than you think, all it takes is 5 minutes in training mode to get it down forever.
I always wanted to play gief but I could never do the 360 motions on a pad. Modern Gief is the best thing to ever happen for my enjoyment of fighting games :)

Fun fact gief forward M-kick (knee) looks like an air attack but id grounded and you can grab him, same with Kimberly overhead you can spd or CA with zangief.

AND THAT is the ultimate perk of Modern, Lvl 3 is always a threat, but one button level 3, now that is scary, cause even in burnout you don't fear DI so long as you can react to press the 2 buttons done.
I haven't played Street Fighter since the SNES was current gen. But I love watching Justin play, and I am more and more tempted to buy SF6 and give Modern Zangief a try. Especially with videos like this.
Do it! I'm almost the same way, but I stuck around into the Playstation era before I stopped. This is the first fighting game I've ever really tried to get good at and put time in and it's so awesome. I'm 35 playing with Luke on modern and it's literally so fun.

SF6 is the best fighting game in ages imo. It's def worth buying it. It's brought me back into the FGC after like a decade of lack of interest.
