To be fair. He already secured his spot in hell after murdering a little kid with a rocket launcher, so at this point he has nothing else to lose and can just go all out evil.
That last Ryu match was legendary. I haven't laughed so hard at an FGC clip in a long time.
Zangief is really one of the few characters I'd be willing to play with modern controls. Modern Zangief strikes me as borderline overpowered because of the fact he can do Spinning Piledriver and Borscht Dynamite with just a single button, and also his Level 3 super art can be done with just the special move button and the heavy attack button. I really like that, because trying to get that 720-degree motion has always been a bit of a pain in the ass for me.
I feel SPD and Borsch being a single button is fine as if you're using the shortcut for a 360 input, you can do it almost just as fast as Modern, and definitely as fast when buffering. The modern level 3 super is just cheating though, as there's no equivalent of a neutral lvl 3 super for Classic, you NEED to buffer the 720 somehow, closest equivalent being on wake-up, but that's a specific, disadvantageous position.

Modern just deals 20% less damage with everything. So everything except lvl 3 is just worse for modern.
Gief is hands down the worst character I the game, it's not even close. Saying gief and overpowered in the same sentence should get the scrub hall of fame by default lol

I played him 40 matches in Modern, the next 200 in Classic.
He's much better and much more efficient in Classic.
The 360 and 720 are far easier than you think, all it takes is 5 minutes in training mode to get it down forever.

I haven't played Street Fighter since the SNES was current gen. But I love watching Justin play, and I am more and more tempted to buy SF6 and give Modern Zangief a try. Especially with videos like this.
Im brand new to street fighter and I have modern Gief in gold. Every other character im terrible with but modern Gief is just too fun
Do it! I'm almost the same way, but I stuck around into the Playstation era before I stopped. This is the first fighting game I've ever really tried to get good at and put time in and it's so awesome. I'm 35 playing with Luke on modern and it's literally so fun.
SF6 is the best fighting game in ages imo. It's def worth buying it. It's brought me back into the FGC after like a decade of lack of interest.

Fun fact gief forward M-kick (knee) looks like an air attack but id grounded and you can grab him, same with Kimberly overhead you can spd or CA with zangief.

This just reaffirms my feelings that Zangief can feel so much simpler to play in Modern. Instant Lv3s or Criticals...
AND THAT is the ultimate perk of Modern, Lvl 3 is always a threat, but one button level 3, now that is scary, cause even in burnout you don't fear DI so long as you can react to press the 2 buttons done.

I really 1st started using Zangief in MVC2 then I went back to SF2 started using him in CVS2 started using him with E. Honda and Raiden the wrestler team
Been in bronze just messing around with ken and luke on mondern and just decided to do modern gieff placements and got put in silver. modern zangieff is fun

It's pretty easy on stick. There's a light, medium, and heavy, plus the "autocombo" button. Basically if you're on a classic 8 button fight stick:
Top + Bottom Left (X/Square or A/X) = Throw
2nd from Left Top + Bottom (Y/Triangle + B/O) = Super, level determined by direction. Up is 1, left/right is 2, and down is 3
3rd from left top ( RB/R1) = drive parry
3rd from left bottom (RT/R2) = autocombo button, you basically hold this and then mash a normal button and it does work including super if you got it
Top right button (LB/L1) = drive impact
Bottom right button (LT/L2) = throw
Normals are X/Square, A/X, and B/O. Specials, smash bros style, are Y/Triangle + direction. It's great.
Let me know if that makes sense. I love Modern, as somebody who can do motion inputs no problem. My fightstick is a Mayflash with upgraded Sanwa parts, but I LOVE this control setup. Know I'm missing some base kit moves, but I have a solution for everything, an instant anti-air, and the option for 1 frame Supers. Modern Juri is beyond fun, I love playing her.

And yeah, it's default, but the design behind it makes sense. I use a Mayflash fight stick with sanwa stick/buttons. All of the dual button moves, like throw or super, are in the same row. It makes sense.
All the "Modern" buttons like drive parry, impact, or throw are on the right side, and it just makes sense. This will sound basic and again I can do motion inputs but like Modern, but
Your normals are on the left, your specials are in the middle, and the drive stuff is on the right. It just feels very logical and right to me.
Just got a win over a Cammy that dumpstered me in round one. I'm typically a rematch until they don't type, but sometimes I can feel the soul of Ms Han shine down on me and tell me when to bail.
I've been on Modern the whole time despite 30 years of motion inputs, let me know if you have any questions, let me know. Tried both, modern is just way better.
