Dead Space 1 is the scariest videogame that has ever been made, and it will probably always be the scariest videogame ever made. I have been having a great time playing the Callisto Protocol with my dad all these years later, but just like the sequels to the original game, there is no way it could ever be anywhere close to as scary as the first game. Not to say that Dead Space 2, 3, and now the Callisto Protocol, aren't actually very fun videogames with tense or scary segments that I enjoyed... but there is no other game that has ever made me breathe a sigh of relief that it was finally over after beating the final boss, just to slap me across the face with the only non-gameplay jump scare for thinking it was over. They sampled my god damn shitty BART trains just to make an otherwise harmless empty room incredibly scary. There's just nothing like it. Feel free to share any examples of scarier videogames if you have them, I'm not here to smash your opinions, but I am curious if anybody thinks there's something scarier out there.
