You are invaluable and wonderful, sir!
Brennan must be punching the air with how fast and frequently Aabria gets PVP going.
Thank you, Flando.
Noshir is such a best, he's amazing! And giving Oscar such a hard time Noshir and Sam's dynamic is fantastic
Thank you as always, Flando! :D
Humbled to see so much love for our Circle of Tide & Bone! Thanks for joining us, fam, and I hope you have fun! - Noshir aka Rajan Savarimuthu ⭕️🌊🦴
You were absolutely wonderful in this!! Can't wait to see where this campaign is going /terrified
I did NOT expected that reveal from your character!
That was some serious Candyman-level body horror! Bravo! And to top it off Rajan also seems to be an interesting character on his own, besides his supernatural abilities.
Sir! that was a seriously impressive performance and I was in awe of your acting skill in this episode. I am seriously looking forward to the next episode just to see Rajan in the aftermath of all this! Thank you so much for your amazing work!
The love is totally deserved. You’re all just incredible storytellers and phenomenal performers.
You were incredible! Cannot wait for more :)
Super impressed with Noshir's ability to have Rajan walk in and immediately established as a charisma 20 a-hole (/affectionate)
That loveable a-hole smile and smolder is doing so much work on about 80% of the audience 😂
Classic High Grant gives at work.
He said five whole words and I RAN to the chat (was watching on twitch) because I knew the thirst was going to be scorching and boy was I right 😂
*fans self while having Sean ptsd* 😆
omg i finished the last episode yesterday and oof @@megankrempasanka1426
Liam’s go-to method of comforting his teammates is to hand them his pet and I love it so much
The split screen camera angles to allow the characters to have a more direct visual conversation is SUCH a fantastically inspired editing technique. I love when you all experiment with new visuals.
I like it too, but I also really hope that during the funny moments they keep it full screen cause watching everyone react and break is the best lol, like the chickens in the last chapter's finale where I had to watch it like six separate times to look at everyone's faces
I feel it should be said, they took that trick from Dimension 20. I do hope they keep the group-wide shots in more often than not, though, 'cause it's fun seeing everyone react to shenanigans. Competing businesses or something~
Love it so much too !
@@meghanmcgowan7748 This. It looks great initially and I was a fan of it at first, but you lose something in being unable to watch the other player's reactions.
not to mention the audio effects they added... the beast growling in the background was giving such a terrifying feel!
„I killed you“
- „Nobody‘s perfect“
Sam Riegel, what an utter masterpiece. Didn‘t expect such a tragic character from him. I love this crew, I love them, and how fucked up they are
"Pobody Nerfect"
- Bishop Nathaniel Charlock
The one thing we know about Sam is that he commits to the bit. I does not surprise me that he understood the assignment in a horror game. :D He's actually good, not Goofball McFunnyguy. (see Scanlan, the character)
Time stamp?
@@BroForLife69 3:12:45
Instantly one of my favorite lines of the whole chapter. Even the timing (the pause and the inhale) was perfect.
Season One: We're trying to not become the monsters we fight.
Season Two: War makes monsters of us all.
Season Three: Y'all, we're monsters fighting monsters.
what season is this??
@@AnansisLibrary Three
Needle and Thread: one player asked for an existing scar for Backstory
Tide and Bone: everyone go WHEEEEEEEEE
There was an interview where Aabria said she offered everyone to take a scar in exchange for something extra, and they all took it.
Aabria: So if you get a scar, you get a cool thing.
Everyone: *y e s*
@@constantlycomic1290 Aabria: it's fun to have someone already a little f-ed up at the beginning of the campaign!

I was a bit meh until Ashley's beast mode kicked in, but from then it was a roller-coaster. A+, will keep watching!
I didn’t know how powerful Catalysts and Scars could make someone - and I’m here for it
Madame Glask has the right idea, if youre not confronting THE HORRORS fully decked out in ball gown, jewels, and perfume, are you even doing it right?

@@PrettyGuardian Monsters? Eldritch

You can't fight eldritch horrors if you're not cute.
Well, if you're going to die, may as well go out in style!
Absolutely
Even in non-CR shows, Sam will always do everything for the sake of Liam.
They love each other so much. It's so genuinely beautiful.
It's guy love😂❤😊
"You smile all the time?" Coming from Sam is hilarious 😂
I felt that Sam’s character was so unique from his other ones - kind of quiet, not very witty, sort of blunt and straightforward, BUT IT ALL MAKES SENSE BECAUSE OSCAR LOSES SO MUCH OF HIS PERSONALITY AS HE LOSES HIS MEMORIES. What people sacrifice in order to keep on living, I feel that so fucking hard.
I really want Taliesin to either play in the next campaign or to DM it. They are using his house after all to host these sessions.
Wait actually?
@@DragonBard13258No
They are using his eldrich murder dungeon. Totally different places.
i think the best way to do this is for him to dm season 6, all the other dms from each previous season as players, each playing a lightkeeper. he runs a high level game, shows off what the most powerful pcs of candella obscura can do. (complete with the penalties associated,) and our players are now dealing with a threat so large that only the leadership can deal with it, (or at least the highest ranking keepers that actually do anything, you know how boards of directors and politicians are.)
taliesin using his old eldrich manners of proper hosting to keep his guests from being unruly
I predict he'll be the gamemaster in the next/final chapter, as he's the only main cast member not to actually play or run one of these yet.
Noshir’s voice is like molten metal, and I say that as a passionate smelter and father of 7, it’s amazing. Love this circle
Glad I'm not the only one, the man's voice combined with his acting and charisma: chef kiss!
Somehow you being a father of 7 does actually give more credit to this, idk why
Yeah, he does have that down as an art.
Congrats on you having 7 kids. Must of been a giant rollercoaster ride for the books
I'd like to thank Robbie for being the catalyst for everyone thinking of absolutely wonderfully insane shit to bring to the table ❤
He really did open that door, didn't he?
open it? he kicked it in, more or less :D @@Landis963

Liam smacking Ashly on the arm while Noshir was describing the hive was so funny to me. He's like "Look, you're both monster weirdos! You match!"
I yelled "IT'S ONLY THE FIRST EPISODE" several times at my tv screen. 10/10, would recommend.
I always love seeing the difference between Character Ashly and Ashly Ashly. Once she's in a character she really is a different person.
Noshir needs a main campaign guest role stat.
The way he looks out from under his brows oozes a natural 20 on charisma every damn time
He projects so much emotion whilst saying nothing, so when he speaks the impact is 10x.

In true Sam Riegel fashion, that "hard candy" Oscar kept popping was a hint about the character's backstory. Wow!
Can you explain why , please? I don’t get it : (
@@kseniabiazruchanka4958 This particular tidbit was revealed toward to the end of this episode. Have you watched it yet? If not, I highly recommend watching the episode first.
@@kseniabiazruchanka4958The Critical Role team has joked in the past about old people loving Werther’s Originals.
Oscar is immortal and isnt Cosmo's grandson, but his dad, making him an even older man than Cosmo is@kseniabiazruchanka4958
@@kseniabiazruchanka4958 I think it’s a reference to hard candy being “old people candy.” Kinda a play on the casts Werthers inside joke.
It may sound dumb but Liam portraying the old man who get to a hospital and cries out loud to get back home resonated so deep i almost cried.
Doesn’t sound dumb at all. There were moments in that performance from all three of them that were a little too realistic for me…
Yeah. This performance was so true to life for any one who’s cared for elders with similar issues or people with mental health issues. Liam’s portrayal reminded me so much of visiting my father in care homes over the years.
@@thepanpiper7715 I'm sorry but that absolutely does sound dumb from ya'll. It was a bit that was funny and everyone was over the top on purpose to make it a little bit funny and silly. If you're picking something like that to suddenly feel all solemn and sad then idk how you guys go through normal life.
@@matthewsnow-zj1cu I was once doing a photography project in a hospital in a ward for the elderly (assistant role only so I had a lot of time to look around and listen) and there was this one poor woman who kept screaming, at the top of her lungs in clear distress, "Help me! Help me! I need help!" for a full 20 minutes while Everyone ignored her. At some point I heard a nurse go ask her what she needed, and she quieted down for like five minutes before starting up again. Broke my heart, still haunts me.
"Elsie, look, Oscar is ok."
Oscar: He is not ok.
this game is so beautifully suited to aabria's' style and it shows spectacularly here. I couldn't tear my eyes away from it - everyone's character was wonderful and interacted so well with each other in the way only volatile elements can. newcomer noshir especially was just - thoroughly embodying the character to the point that he was riveting even when he wasn't speaking.
Cosmo, Elsie and Madam Glask's distraction in the hospital gave me flashbacks to Molly, Fjord and Caleb's own stunt at the hospital in early C2 XD
Oooohhhh no I didn't need reminding of that lmao I love those idiots
Lmao, forgot about that 🤣🤣🤣
39:42 Love that Sprigg (Liam's doggo) made a cameo in Godot. Proud dog dad moment!
Mighty Nein spoilers. If I had a nickel for every time Sam did "he's MY boy" with Liam, I'd only have two nickels but that's more than I expected.
Hearing Liam describe himself (Cosmo), I'm automatically thinking 'Older Caleb!' The bookshop full of books - odd and rare books at that! - and him just wanted to stay out in the field and learning is SUCH a Caleb thing. :D
except there’s no way in hell Caleb would ever own - Gott behüte! - a dog

Just incredible. Liam’s performance, Ashley’s Ideas, Noshirs Charisma and Acting, Sam ‘what’s my mothers name?’ Riegel with the emotional bomb, and a beautifully wonderful Gina. I’m so excited :)
Sam's reveal took me the fuck out fr
Sam Riegel at first may appear like the table funnyman, but it's times like these that you realize what a tremendous actor he really is.
What if Oscar has exactly 9 lives because HE'S A CAT!!
god dammit
Sams ad voice: I'm a Cat😼
oh no, the universes are merging! 😆
Noshir tweeted that Aabria was a beautiful monster of a GM here, he wasn't kidding. Relentless is the first word that came to mind when I watched Aabria in this episode.
Is it a coincidence of how Rajan, Dr. Elsie and Oscar are seated, forming a triangle?
I think NOT!!!
We live in a moment of time where Aabria Iyengar GMs both Critical Role and Dimension 20 episodes the same week. Imagine being that employable.
We’ve reached peak Aabria, she is crushing it.
I'll plug the live play D&D podcast 'Worlds Beyond Number' if you want even more Aabria. Brennan as the DM with Lou Wilson, Erika Ishii, and Aabria Iyengar.
A brief, beautiful 2 days where Burrow's End and CO3 air around each other
I love her. She just brings so much fun to everything, even a horror game!
Not a fan.
and I swear she looks completely different every time I see her! :)
It’s safe to say that Candela Obscura just keeps getting better.
An incredible first episode with so many stand out moments & reveals. Everyone is absolutely incredible.
Can’t wait for the next episode of this chapter!
Aabria is just bringing the horror with two separate series, I'm loving it.
They have been growing from strength to strength every chapter, not that the previous ones were bad but this one was just so good!
I know they've done it before. And I'm sure it's been talked about before. But I really love the wheel chair user representation from a player character. Plus old man Liam is fantastic
I once played a half orc barbarian who would get wheeled around in a wheelchair just so he can get to see his foes eyes widening when he jumps up and charges at them.
@@jf2369af This is my new favorite character idea!
2:42:05 I was 100% expecting Liam to scream "SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLEEEE!" As he's being wheeled away 😂
if he did, not a small percentage of ppl would be losing their mind, myself included.
This episode was intense as Sam’s complicated relationship with Werther’s Original…..
….. at first he slanders in Campaign 3, but is popping them in every once in a while.
I so need a compilation of Oscar and Rajan interacting. The tension all felt so authentic to me.
By far my favorite Circle so far. I love how RP heavy it is and how the mechanics basically fall into the background (especially with CO, because a lot of people don't know the "rules" yet of bleeds/scars etc.) , it's completely choice-driven. Also this cast is fucking incredible!! All the characters seem complex and very 3-dimensional. Plus Oscar and Rajan immediatly became one of my favorite dynamics.
I guess my biggest question is how they come up with the titles for the Circles. I notice on the rulebook there's questions, but it isn't letting me see what those questions are and how to name the Circle...
@@eternasapphiremoon81 The "circle" choose the name between them, it's usually something that ties a couple of the characters together like Tide and Bone... Liam and Sams characters both had mentions of a boat and Ashleys character is a medical doctor (bones) the previous circle was Needle and Thread where Marishas character had a penchant for mending clothes while Zehras was a surgeon.
@@RogueWraith909 and before that was Vassal & Veil , because it sounded cool , but Robbie character was a Vassal to a soul so it still made sense , although Needle & Thread had a better Vassal like character
I love the inclusion of nursery rhymes in this episode. I think that all or most cultures in our world have them, so it's nice to get to visit one of them from the Fairelands. I'm hoping that a fairy tale will be in one of the episodes. Who needs the brothers Grimm when you could have Liam and Sam's Grandfather, Grandson Grimm duo writing about their Candela Obscura assignments and the fairytalesk creatures they encounter?
Grandpa Liam is best Liam and his sonny Sam. Great Duo. The entire cast is awesome. Thursday can't come fast enough!
His "son"....
Reverse those roles 😂
Sam's mustache is finally appropriate.
best comment lol
I love the variation of horror explored by this circle so far; body, bestial/monster (very Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde), and psychological...
.
It's often said that a parent's worst fear is outliving their children, but can you imagine the sheer horror of never aging yet forgetting core tenants of your being, while you watch your child grow old and dedicate their life to you??? Damn, boys T-T
So my current pet theory is that the voice Sam keeps meeting, that Eldritch thing that takes his memories in return for a resurrection...is actually Taliesin's hidden boss character to be revealed in full on the last episode. In all seriousness, there's no way it doesn't play a big role.
Yooooo everyone is seriously f*cked up in this Circle!! What an AMAZING start, loved the new split-screen camera angles and HOLY SH*T is Noshir wild! Such a charismatic character
Ok, if that was the first episode, we better buckle up. It's gonna be a bumpy, terrifying ride.
I enjoyed the first two chapters, but this one has the feeling of EXU Calamity about it and I'm *excited*.
Aabria comes out swinging and we love her for it
This gave me "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" vibes. Loved it!
Forget Netflix, this about to be a top-tier drama!
Yes!
Hop on the Dropout train!
I am very attached to Cosmo now and i will sob until my house is flooded if anything happens to him
The real monsters were the friends we made along the way.
This comment deserves some type of award.
Liam's performance at 2:05:00 is way too good, speaking as a cna who works with the elderly.
Yeah…I appreciated Aabria cracking up during that whole bit, there were a few uncomfortably real moments.
Just noticed all the lovely depression-era glasses they're drinking out of. Such cool scene setting.
I’m only half way trough this episode, but I just love Sams human version of “the cat”. Especially when he gracefully climbs up a wall giving shade👌
Also, props to the editors/effects people/crew in general, those merged frames with cast members close up side by side were a great addition on top of all the other great sound effects and other things you guys do to help elevate this already great episode to the next level.
Oscar to Cosmo: “You’re always taking care of me, I think it should be the other way around.”
Me: “What a sweet grandson.”
*Later on, after the reveal*
Me: “IT SHOULD’VE BEEN THE OTHER WAY AROUND, DID NOT SEE THAT COMING, WHAT THE FU-!”
I know! I shouted “I’m sorry what!” at my screen when I heard Sam say all that. I am so confused! Must know more lore! How does Cosmo know? How does Oscar deal with coming back every time? What is doing that to him? I have so many questions!
Hopefully the serious man will give answers..and considering there’s an immortal, werewolf type thing, loads of bugs !! ,he better do it fast
Sam and Liam dropping a well crafted emotional bomb, once again. And we still NEVER see them coming.
Alright so Brennan, Tal, Aabria, Matt, and Noshir at the same table how do we get this to happen babes?
that is an EXCELLENT combo platter, I would be very here for that

Every Candela game gets more fucked up than the last one, and I love it.
Every single Candela set has been stellar. Single best work I've seen since Calamity. This is art, from the perfect artists for the job. Top marks. -edit: This whole opening is a tongue twister. Try it, I dare you.
All right, I need to say this because I'm not seeing enough praise as of yet: The camera shots. The editing. The cuts and splitscreens to focus entirely on specific players or player/DM interactions. I mean, perfect. Just perfect. Whoever is doing this at CR HQ, props to you! Well done indeed! ♥
+++
I have to say I LOVE the closeups on this. It fits this format so well and I can finally throughly appreciate this beautiful set that’s behind the players!
I'm gonna need Aabria to drop a single "toothy maw"
Sure hope the Maw is toothy!
This entire cast is paying for my therapy. 10/10
Out of everything in this series, an interior bee hive was the horror that blew my mind 🐝
so a human opening his skull and taking out a bone out of it didn't blew your mind?
Aabria's gm style suits this format really well! I was so riveted, I barely noticed how long I was watching 🥰 alsooo, love the split screen close ups 👌
I'm really liking the close up shots of the people in conversation with one another. It looks really good.
To say that this episode ripped the air out of my lungs time and time again would be an understatement
Yo, the thing behind Aabria spinning fast and backwards at 1:08:40 gave me powerful Needle and Thread flashbacks and spooked the hell out of me. Did it always do that??
I want to say that's new for this season; All I remember from Needle and Thread is the dramatic moment where Spenser stopped the astrolabe on command.
@Landis963 Yeah, it went crazy and backwards in the narrative, but didn't physically move that way on set. That's so cool how they're still upping their game each season.
I noticed that, too, but I got the impression that it was malfunctioning IRL. It eventually did return to normal later in the episode, and even got a mention in the captions for making a sound that caught Sam off guard. 3:23:08
Distressed old man Liam is a treat I never thought I'd needed
Just dropping by to say this was my favourite episode of CO so far and I'm loving what I've seen so far. I've never seen Noshir Dalal before but he was utterly amazing, and I'm so looking forward to next month's session!
Liam playing a disabled character made me so bloody happy I nearly cried
The new editing, with the characters spliced together when they're interacting, or closing up to specific players when they're speaking, is SOOOOO GOOD!!! I hope y'all keep doing it for future eps of C3, one-shots, and other spin-offs! This really makes everything much more immersive than before ✨🙏
I know he’s busy but Matt would BODY a role in this series
he was the GM for the first Chapter , would like to see him as a player as well tho
aabria and gina out-of-character fangirling over raj is SENDING me
This circle seems special. The past 2 were great, but this one has a magic to it I can't wait to see unfold!
'The Serious Man' is an A-list creepy folk horror name though.
This is by far my favorite episode of Candela Obscura so far! Aabria you’re fuggin awesome!!!
2:04:57 Get it, Liam!!! It was wonderful to see him launch into Cosmo's "doddering old grandfather" act!!! 😍😂
What an absolute banger of an episode. I was riveted the entire time, and am already champing at the bit for the second episode. And +1 to everyone who says we need Noshir and Gina at the main table stat, because we do.
I'm a simple man, I see Aabria I click. Let's go Chapter 3 🎉🎉
Ashley Burch doing what she does best...killing off CR cast members PCs :D
I was very impressed by the performance of Noshir Dalal... he brought charisma, swagger and intensity to a complex character.
Can't wait to see what Gina Darling will bring to the table once her character's gloves come off
Why do you think Tal is not on this mini-series? He already learned.
Taliesin Jaffe, sir you intros and commercials for Candela Obscura are musical!!! They are incredible!!
Aabria is, among the CritRole DMs, the one that always feels like she has the players' backs, like she wants them to succeed and be cool, which makes it even more desperate when they happen to fail. This is going to be very interesting to watch
Aabria's hair is on point, just sayin. I'm jealous.
Also... Liam... old man Liam is just... wow.
I love that you can jump into any chapter of Candela without FOMO ... honestly, this was the first one which got me pinned to my couch... fantastic 1st Episode...
Ashamed that I had to Google why Noshir's voice sounded so damn familiar to me... only to find out, that he was in one of my favourite Videogames (Jedi: Survivor)... love you Bode
This is legit like an actual audio drama! These episodes just get better and better. I want this entire episode animated. Heck, maybe even a proper live action drama episode!
I love Gina's face when she figures it out "I only have my son"
props to CR for getting Noshir and Gina. Both for the MK 1 one shot and for Candela. go get em Rain and Kitana!
3:38:17 Liam is killing it! Cosmo's "action glasses" are The Best! p.s. I just adore Ashly's laugh! 😍
2:29:15 in our reality, in this world, the first electric “hand torch” was invented in 1899. For this world setting I do not see that as far fetched, to have a flash light.
4:09:44 See! The Serious Man , who was running, has an illuminated Hand Torch!
Oh my god, the sexual chemistry Rajan is radiating just on his entry is _so_ off the charts. If anything happens to him, hands _will_ be thrown.

I've had enough of people whining "but it's not D&D, I don't want to see Daggerheart and IW in my CR!" Broaden your horizons people ffs.
@@evetobe It's not about "DnD" or any rulesset for me - I don't even understand the mechanics side of things like that - I come and stay for the storytelling... :)
I mean this is technically just a VOD. I dunno how the twitch numbers compare

Idk how Candela Obscura keeps managing to get better, but it does! Amazing episode! I’m so intrigued by these new characters!
This circle is giving me heavy The Mummy vibes in terms of personalities and aestethics.
Another triumph for Ms. Jenny. Everyone looks FANTASTIC.
Truly!
Kotallo is my favorite NPC from Forbidden West. The voice acting was superb for every character, but I fell in love with Kotallo, and the voice actor played no small part in that. So excited to see him here! I caught the vapors when he began to banish the nun. ❤🔥
Massive shout out to the sound design of this one. Absolutely stunning part of an absolutely stunning episode.
Liam your character brought me to tears(not with laughter) some many times it was like seeing my Grandad again this campaign is going to be a hard one I miss him so much.😥😥😥
I think this is my favorite Aabria performance yet. The rest of the cast is also amazing.
Aabriya's description of the Maw was fantastic :D gave me chills
OKAY BUT RAJAN'S FUCKING REVEAL THOUGH
Great circle, great GM, great story. No notes. Thank you all
An absolutely amazing episode, felt the excitement, nervousness and thrill throughout!! Can't wait to see what transpires over the rest of the circle.
