Sometimes, we get so focused (no pun intended) on technical superiority, that we forget about enjoying the process of making photos altogether. Great review as always, Mark!
It's nice to watch. At a time, when almost every TH-camr talking photography is an optical expert, a practical use of any good lens is expressed well..
It's a great pleasure to watch you love these lenses. It's good to see that there are people who celebrate not just technology, but photography itself. Thank you for this video. I wish you and your loved ones a healthy and happy New Year.
I just want to add, that it solves many problems for those of us using a micro 4/3 camera for indoor use. This is my new office studio video lens. Great economy lens if you do not need autofocus and your camera is on a tripod.
I've got this one on my wish list on Amazon. I have a Sony FE TTartisan 50mm f1.4 and a Sony APS-C 7artisans 60mm f2.8 1:1 macro and I love these inexpensive, yet high quality manual focus lenses. The full metal construction resembles the best quality vintage lenses and manual focus is just like the old days of film. Not a problem at all in the situation where you have time to frame your shot and focusing is actually a pleasure.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisI more mean to see the sharpness comparison and such it would just be interesting since this stops down to 2 vs them going from 2.8 to 4. I just figured it'd be a fun video to see 🤷♂️
Sigma is the 2nd lens manufacturing for sony cameras after sony itself, their lenses are on another league. But for price this options are quite good. I have a few manual lenses, but autofocus for photography is a plus, even more if you travel and sometimes are by yourself wothout noone to take the camera
Very nice! I really dig those accessories it comes with. Thanks for another awesome video! That studio setup looks to be working great for you there so far.
It's a nice lens and well made. But honestly my copy is barely useable at F2, at least for distant objects. The center gets useable from 2.8, midframe and borders are still blurry until f4. Either there is huge sample variation or some reviews are a little on the optimistic side.
Any time I see Mark make a new wide-angle lens video 💰 A sub $200 10mm lens? I’m in! Considering I think I’m going to finally pick up my FX30 in the coming months, this would be a great throw on, focus, and leave it alone lens for my streaming setup.
There's something magical about fully manual photography (and video too). Being a cinematographer I've been on a constant hunt for the best character lenses, ideally in matched sets. And best of all, these TT Artisan and other vintage lenses they tend to copy sometimes, are SMALL. It makes for such a well balanced tool in your hand, compared to the modern, optically "perfect" but HUGE and character-LESS lenses of the big manufacturers. Not to send you down the rabbit hole (well, maybe a little bit!), but try getting your hands on some of the old, vintage Olympus OM primes which are TINY but are f2 across some insane focal lengths like 21mm (not cheap now mind you). And of course they are full frame and easily adapted to mirrorless camera systems. Minolta also made some excellent, small lenses back in the late 70s. And coming back to modern Chinese lens designs, I recently bought the Dulens APO Mini Primes for cinema work and they are also very small for being true cinema lenses, as well as being really good value and best of all, they have the character of vintage lenses. The next few years are going to be very interesting as the Chinese continue to get better at this game.... :)
I'm going to ask a totally beginner question. I'm going to assume that on my a6600 I would have to shoot on manual? I could not use auto shutter speed or auto iso correct?
What lens would you recommend for the Zve10 for filming art videos… hands only on the desk? I would use my phone but th Audio is lot great. So I’ve been using the Zve10 on a mount pointing down at my desk. Sometimes the autofocus going in and out ruins the video, it’s like it’s bouncing constantly. Tried using manual focus and it gets blurry. Using the kit lense that came with it. Is there a better one you would recommend?
Have you experienced lens mount tolerance differences with the Fuji X mount ? I just sold my XT20 and bought the ttartisan 10mm about the same time. So i won't be able to test it until i buy the XS20 around Labor Day. However, i notice the mount itself compared to my other Fujinon lenses, it looks a bit looser. Would that be a problem? 😮
I like the ZV-E10 because it does have electronic stabilization and the option to use gyro data. But the a6100 nudges it in the photo department because it has that EVF. Since I'm more of a video shooter - I go with the ZV-E10
Seems a bit late for me. I already have the Laowa 9mm f/2.8 for many years, but I’m selling it because I recently upgraded to the Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 auto-focus zoom with in-camera corrections for distortion and vignetting. The Sigma is a very nice lens, and much more versatile, especially when you don’t want quite so wide of a composition all that often. With 10-18mm, I can use it as a carry-around lens for the day, with or without another lens in my pocket.
I think the Nisi 9mm F2.8 is hard to beat. It is built like a tank and is weatherproof. Of course it's not F2.0, but all the advantages of TTartisan only seem to start from 2.8. As you can see on Christopher Frost's TH-cam channel, the Nisi is much sharper than the TTartisan and has much less color fringing. Nevertheless, thanks for the review.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis You are absolutely right. You get 2 of these TTArtisan lenses for one Nisi. But all in all, the Nisi costs well under €500 in Europe.
The 11 is fantastic, with in camera corrections, it doesn’t have much distortion so it’s also not fisheye like. The 11 is much more expensive, but is a fantastic autofocus lens and has an f1.8. If the 11 is in the budget, I would get that.
Very interesting lens! Here's a quick question - I'm thinking of buying a used Canon 6D for about £300/$350 and some decent EF lenses to play around with. Do you think it's a good buy?
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I mostly do gym vlogs where I put the camera on a tripod and tlak then do my exercise. I think if I set the focus right it should be OK?
10 mm is great when it comes to crops for stabilization modes. I made the mistake of using a 24mm on full frame. Nobody needs to see my face that close. The wider the better.
