When this film came out in 1973 it was science fantasy. Today it's science fiction. And with computers now designing computers (As Crichton put it) tomorrow not entirely impossible.
Technically, it's around $2,500 a day. That's because the movie takes place in the 'future world' of 1983. data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl?cost1=1000&year1=198301&year2=201712
+dudeman5685 You might already know, but this movie was directed by Michael Crichton - who later wrote Jurassic Park and helped write the movie as well.
No? Color tv was in people’s homes by 1965. That’s not true at all. In another 4-5 years after this movie we were we had cable. At least get your history right; Don’t confuse decades.
Medieval world is more Fantasy World but its kind of a funny coincidence that Rome, Game of Thrones and Deadwood are produced by HBO and then later produced Westworld, its like they had a sense of humor and that they are Delos.
Michael Crichton didn’t think it all the way through. If he were alive and making this movie today, he would have had the robots feel as warm as humans and have the guns equipped with “bio-sensors” (which would still malfunction), not “heat sensors”.
Michael Crichton was a genius. Whole he would go on to do Jurassic Park which was also just as amazing, He basically made Jurassic Park in terminator as one. That is probably one of the coolest ideas made
Seeing how they gotta maintain the following: Food, clothes, Ammo, Weapon maintenance, Robot maintenance, the control room computers, repairing the damages to the building and furniture caused by fighting. I'd say even back then they're getting off light.
Better look out the robots are coming quicker than you think. Google "Sophia" and other sophisticated robots. 20 or so years who knows what will happen, if we live through this plaque

*Actor Robert Hogan (Delos Reporter) just died less than a year ago, in May of 2021. He was 87 years old.*
My favorite movie of all time. I actually calculated what it would actually cost today and it's $6270 a day (because of US inflation).
i have the vhs and the dvd...

After seeing all the posts, I've got no idea how much it would cost.
The cost of a Hotdog at some of the themeparks I've been to.
Like $10k right now lol
Michael Crichton was ahead of his time with this movie
Delos should sue ingen for stealing their shtick - a theme park whose attractions keep on getting out of hand and kill the tourists.

dudeman5685 So Michael Crichton is going to sue Michael Crichton? He wrote both, literally just replacing robots with dinos.
@@sergeantbigmac It's just a joke genius
People business run Delos put their guests infamous
Think about how ahead of its time this movie was. They only just got color tv!!
Ik it's such a great movie for its time.
Color movies have been around since 1939, dude.
@@anonymousmobster2444 they were black and white until the 60s almost
@@s1cktube239 Well in the 50's yeah. I think technicolor wasn't usual at the time.

I still have fond memories of seeing this when I was a kid.
I wonder if that dude is a robot as well.
THIS was the future for us in the 70´s
Where nothing can go wrong ;
Possiblie...
*Or "worng" as the movie posters back then spelled the word.*
You know the TV show will include the other worlds.
HBO already DID medieval and Roman worlds. :)
They already did westworld too

I imagine the sex with the androids would be weird given that they're meant to be cold
My phone be 🔥

They’ve been to 70s world!
San Francisco World...where your butt gets sore from more than the rides.
Ummm.....you do know the year this was made, right?
Wish I could see the whole movie.
It was on HBO Max for a while
"Was is worth a thousand dollars a day?"
Todays money - compliments of CPI Inflation Calculator - that would be $5,246.51.
Would it be worth it?
absolutely !!
Roman World: The Men! Italians could always pack a punch!😢😂

Imagine a rolplay game about westworld. Like, the rol was like everything else even cliche, and then SURPRISE! You're actually in Delos
Would be great, but Red dead redemption isn´t bad at all.
I've been to Delos. It's next to Mykonos; no robots though.
Greek islands are wonderful!👍🇬🇷
Welcome to Westworld!

In the show, a day costs 40K dollars, not just 1K, although those bots aren't cold and not fried by some water.
Right? Only the rich and Elite can go to those Vacations.....40 K for only 1 day?
$1,000 a day!!!!???? What dah what!!???

Cheaper then DisneyLand.
No flash photography...
Was their hovercraft full of eels?

Yeah I'm out. ✌️
isis, and the never ending wars..!
What a lot of bad acting, for goodness sakes!
I think it’s meant to be a fake commercial. The actual movie itself is pretty dark (what I’ve heard anyway)
I'm actually impressed by the acting. They only appeared in one scene but are memorable characters themselves.
