Japan is a lot more focused on tenure and seniority than America is in their business as a whole, the longer you've been in the game the more valued you are as a whole. When you land a gig in Japan with a big brand you are essentially signing onto a lifelong position because they don't like working with new blood and when all the devs and heads of a company is so far along like Sonic Team they *REALLY* hate working with new blood, especially in the voice acting side of things. Also, Japan is a lot more into the whole mascot culture, every business has a mascot and they are widely valued there, so on top of them hating to hire new people for old roles they also hate to have mascot characters change in any way, the voice is everything to a mascot and when it changes it can upset the illusion. America is more about groups of people and the benefit the group has over another group, unions have changed our culture so much that corporations don't care about the induvial or carrying on the illusion of the mascot, they care about what does the union that this actor is in have that we can use? Who is here? Who is There? It's because of this that every time there is a shift in what the company is doing, be it a new show airing, new updates in direction, they change to another VA group so they can maximize the efficacy.
