    Finally, someone showcasing Saskatchewan. Indeed it's not flat. Go north to Prince Albert, Gateway to the North. Prince Albert National Park is awesome.

      @@ExploreTheBackcountry Strange but good seeing you guys entirely on dry land. Great sunsets and you’ve got to love that prairie country, an ocean of grass. If you ever get to New Zealand (my home) you should do the Tongariro crossing around three volcanoes on our alpine desert plateau I’m sure you’d appreciate it. Thanks for the upload.

    6:55 When you forget that knees can bend 😆(I do it too). Really cool you guys...hard to believe the boreal forest and so much water is not far away. That one "tree" felt so precious. Awesome vibe, vid, and change of scenery

      They have been reintroducing them to the park since 2005! No where near historic numbers, but they are around a few corners of the west block.

    Really enjoyed this video guys. One of the many hidden gems in Canada. I think if more people visited this park instead of driving though Saskatchewan on the transcanada they would have a new appreciation for that beautiful province. We haven’t done the trail in the west park but after watching this we’ll have to go back there and complete that trail. Awesome work as always.

    Nice seeing my backyard on youtube! Whenever I hike out, I don't usually look at the prairies though. (Seen enough to last a lifetime!) My favorite thing to do is to look up at the stars as Grasslands National is one of Canada's designated Sky Sanctuaries.

    • @ExploreTheBackcountry
      @ExploreTheBackcountry  ปีที่แล้ว

      The skies were amazing. Such broad horizons for stargazing. We had the fly off overnight to fall asleep under the bright stars.

    Just kicker you two are out exploring a little of the prairies, enjoying it too! Far too many people under rate and under estimate the beauty of the prairies. They cannot be compared to anything else, like you can't compare two sports...football and hockey are both awesome, but uncomparable. As a backpacker myself, I have to ask...how do you like it? Thanks for sharing your Dash!!! - Davey.

      Next video is back to rock, although we didn't really miss it with this breathtaking landscape. The final backcountry destination of our trip. We did a bunch of frontcountry, some boondocking and some lodge stays too that didn't make it for the video.

    That was incredibly beautiful! It kind of reminded me of my time in western Nebraska. Very windy and grassy.
    The prairie dogs were really cool. They live like people in retirement communities in Florida 😆

      HAHA! Now that's too funny. I can't un-see that now.
      We returned via the states - just frontcountry so no videos - went through the Black Hills, but I did take US20 a few years ago to get to Casper WY, so I'd have to concur!

      @@ExploreTheBackcountry you two did a wonderful job documenting and showing the beautiful prairie landscape.
      Saskatchewan has so much variety to offer outdoors people and relatively easy access to most south of Prince Albert. Northern Saskatchewan is a real Gem, such a vast amount of options and obviously memorable scenery as well. ( I was fortunate to grow up on the Prairie but have a few cabins in some of Saskatchewan's varying and beautiful landscape including the north)
      But because of that, Southern Sask often doesn't get the love it deserves and you two did it justice ❤️, thank you. Would love to see you back!

    I've watched all of your on the water videos and enjoyed almost all of them. I would guess you know that there is a Badlands that is huge and extremely rugged in western South Dakota. Actually straight south from the southeast corner of Saskatchewan. Also huge grassland. Geologically connected? Nice job.... if you haven't', I'd do a quick search of South Dakota Badlands. Thanks guys...a generic term.
