- This shows begins with a girl called Eva who was born in a underground sanctuary. she grew up there and is being trained by a robot who also acts like a mother to her. something unfortunate happens as a beast breaks inside the sanctuary giving Eva no choice but to escape to the surface of the Earth. there, she realises that she is actually the last human on earth and goes through dangerous journeys like fighting queen ojo and her subordinates zin and loroc just to ensure that humanity doesn't go extinct

In the original WondLa books, Eva Nine is supposed to be 13 years old and she has a more unique character design with more personality.
So sounds like aliens invaded, humanity fought back much better than they expected but we’re still losing, when humans realized they were loosing they did a sorched earth policy and fled the planet, but the aliens managed to terraform it anyway

It's from a book series.
Humans basically wiped themselves out, buried sanctuary stations for humans to wait out the nuclear winter on the surface so they can go back up and reteraform the earth.
As they were in waiting hundreds of thousands of years passed, and an alien race that was fleeing their dying star found earth and terraformed it for themslevs.
They realised later on that the planet used to have an intelligent species that dominated it and the king became obsessed with what happened to them.
The theme of the books is basically how humans are a supremely weird species that exploded in population and advanced so quickly they became so unstable as to be self destructive and out of touch with their environment.
The aliens couldn't comprehend the scale of a single city from the human old world. With the estimated amount of people that would have lived in it dwarfing the entire collective civilisational height of the multiple alien species that make up their empire.

They were just trying to rationalise how such a seemingly fragile species could have been so destructive. They don't engage with technology in the same way we do. They rely on their physicality or biological gifts for conflict much more than humans do.

This is killing me cause if this recap is right they didn’t stick to the original story at all. What it looks like to me is they took the 3 book series “a search for Wondla” and turned it into a basic Netflix cartoon with no character and took out all the really cool story telling. Like her sister isn’t here? The fact that the aliens were confused because when they found earth it was dead and they used their tech to terraform it only to find a bunch of humans Hibernating underground. It was a really cool series.

The only thing that can be said is that they vaguely stuck to the character designs. I understand they had to "Disney-fy" Ditzerlizzi's detailed drawings, but it feels like all the characters are completely different. "Robot" was supposed to be "Muthr", and the "magician alien" was supposed to approve of Eva. The most ridiculous was Queen Ojo, who was turned into a damsel-princess with confidence issues instead of the TOWERING pillar of command she was in the books. If they just took a bigger budget and had Ditzerlizzi working on this with them, they could have made it much better.

it's based off of "Search for Wondla" - a ya scifi series. It's an interesting series with a lot of sad moments. Good read.
If you're looking for something interesting, try Walk Me Home: Dating a Monster Girl. It's an eldritch sci-fi romance about a normal guy dating the most powerful monster in the city. When they're together, no one messes with him. When he's alone, other light-sensitive monsters close in. After walking her home, he has to run and fight his way back with parkour, martial arts and a high-powered flashlight.

2010, the second A Hero for WondLa
2012, then the third The Battle for WondLa

There are some implications here and there that there are other humans that grow up under similar if not the same circumstances and age out there since there was shown that early on that there were other bunker locations scattered across the planet

I would normally say something along the lines of "some people physically age at different rates" but for her to be living in ideal sheltered conditions, getting regular exercise, eating what's probably near-perfect nutrition, having no or at least next to no exposure to illness, no exposure to toxins of any kind AT ALL for her entire life up to this point....she should look YOUNGER than the average 16 year-old does, not like someone in their late 20s.

It surprises me that a TV series like this one looks almost like one of those Sony, DW, or W.D films, this is enough evidence of how this industry has evolved . And the argument is interesting, an alien race that got rid from humanity to claim what its "theirs" for right, but at what cost? It reminds me of the Bogotazo in Colombia (1948) Many people escaped the country's capital to protect themselves from the political war between conservadores and liberales. From that year til the 80s people who came from other regions running also from war decided to live in those abandoned mansions and turn them into departments, but that didn't last long. The sons and daughters from the former owners returned to Bogota, to claim their properties in "legal" ways. Those who left stayed living on missery and those who fought back, ended up death or under the knees of a cop. Its a part of the cruel reality of some South american countries.

Oh, no... This looks terrible. The book was illustrated so beautifully with nice character designs and outfits, and this looks like a preschool show. Why is everything so simplified and cutsie--even those murder lobster sniper things? Heck, Eva went from a blonde 13 year old with an awesome hairstyle to 32 year old Raya in medical scrubs. And the story--the queen sees her as her only FRIEND? What??? What is this?
