Wouldnt make any difference because the japanese are constantly selling things they dont need as they dont have the space to store anything. This ensures a fresh stream of second hand products. Australia has too much space, so people just sit on everything they own until they die.
wish we had game stores n such like eb games game pretty much anything game related is dead in the water we have second hand ones though they are pretty far away snd more than not they over price things they sell
22:36 The true reality of Japan haha :D Cool to see another grand opening of HARD OFF! :D A few great deals in there for sure! That Sam Sho NEO GEO game was actually a PS4 version. It's just that SNK decided to release it in an AES case. Pretty cool :D
Of course you'd catch that lol, I had no idea since I don't keep up with the PS4/5. Seems the store clerks didn't either and they put it with the cartridge games haha
I remember the footage from this Live you went crazy it was an overload with that grand opening day tons of games the Live feed couldn’t handle it haha enjoy life Pim another lovely weekend in Japan
That notebook is a vibe and I'd have 100% bought it!! Mahjong 64 GET. Haha the guy loading up on PS2 pads like it's rice in an earthequake warning. That VITA section looks RIPE!! The PS1 box memory card is a nice find (I'd pay 550 just for the box)! The glass Loose Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games were actually at a good price! Great video Pim, loved window shopping through you!
Looking back o should've gotten it for simple games like visual novels yesh. Like I said I have a Win XP Thinkpad but Win98 notebooks are getting harder to find. Luckily they're not really getting more expensive here tho.
Those junk saturn, dreamcast and gc are all good ones to just mod to the sd loaders, I can't wait to visit Tokyo again next year, that was a fun video, I could get lost in that store with the junk bins....need to find some more mini discs.
Awesome video bro! For us fans/subscribers who wanna get to know you better. Where are you from originally (I think you've said you lived on an island)? What brought you to Japan? Why is it called 4am Laundry?
Cool video as always :) Definitely a sensory overload, would need a quiet place to disconnect after leaving the store. That Samurai Spirits is definitely not AES and is PS4 as marked. AES one doesn't say Neo Geo Collection under title and the AES one would definitely NOT reference and online shop on the back cover ;) Great price on that Far East of Eden Neo Geo CD game, goes for slightly more than that without the obi (closer to Y15k with it) and would have snaffled that for my collection :) Loved Onimusha series! The intro for the third game is fire too :)
I'm from Brazil and I just discovered your channel. I went crazy when I saw V-Saturn. Here it is very difficult to get it even outside its box. Who knows, maybe one day I'll make it.
@@4amLaundry Yes, about Sega here we have many fans of the company and I am one of them, and I like the others too. But whenever I see some Sega items I go crazy to buy hahahaha. There are certain versions of consoles that we didn't have here, even with TecToy, which was the company that represented Sega in Brazil. But when it comes to retro issues, we have evolved very well. Now we have a big retro event here in São Paulo. We had John Hancock as a guest at the Retrocon 2024 event, in which they will still confirm the event for 2025 between June and August. Before, retro events were always smaller, more fan-to-fan style. Now we have the scene of some companies that came together to organize the event, who own retro games stores and who know how to serve the retro public.
Thanks for the adress, will go there in a couple of days to check. For the "aes" game ; it says ps4 cause it is indeed a ps4 game. It's the retro "limited edition" of the ps4 game. Fyi, SS1 came with what is called a "soft box"; shock boxes like this one only came in 1995, along with SS3
Wow, what a cool event. I wish I could have been there or experience something like this once day. As for the games themselves, there was some really nice stuff. Btw. that Mahoujin GuruGuru for 1100 Yen was actually a steal. Like at least 50 % off from what I usually see it go for online and then it's not even in such a good condition. A Japanese Xbox 360 would also be cool, to play some of the Japan exclusive games, expecially when it's only like 2200 or 3300 Yen CIB. Wow! Working Dreamcasts for 6600 Yen CIB is also cool. I've heard that sometimes the best of versions of games have bug fixes or something like that. So sometimes they can be better than the original release.
The Best Of versions of games in Japan are usually more expensive from what I've seen, I just don't like the covers Should have definitely gotten that Mahojin Guru Guru yeah, was hard to focus on there lol
@@4amLaundry I see. I didn't know that they're more expensive. And yeah, the covers really aren't that nice either. That store looked really crowded and chaotic, plus you had a live stream going. So I can understand, that some things get overlooked. I also wasn't saying that as a slight against you or anything, it's just something that I had noticed, because that game just so happened to be on my radar.
Didn't know HARD-OFF buried treasure in the JUNK section for openings, kinda wild! funny enough I have one of the yakuza games (2 I think?) that came with my ebay score of a Japanese slim system... but only had disc 2! so need to find a cheap copy to replace it I guess, haha. man that was wild!
For a couple of dreamcast Visual novels, I'd recommend Sakura Wars and Kanon, no idea if you have em already but they are pretty good. For PS2, Shakugan no Shana and Fate / Stay Night. (not sure if you'd be interested in PSP onwards vn recommendations)
Kanon's art style just weirds me out but I did like Clannad and that's just as weird lol, thanks for the recommendations surprised nobody threw Steins;Gate in there tbh
I'm so surprised they keep opening MORE Hard off. It seems to me their national stock of anything retro is every so slowly getting emptied... interesting !
Don't believe everything you read on Twitter lol, Hard Off/Surugaya and all the major guys are doing just fine retro-wise. Only the tourist spots are getting emptied (and also quickly restocked).
Original ps2 controllers are hard to come by especially with the rumble feature. You can upgrade the sticks and battery as well. Fake ones are cheap and don't last. Guess would be he would fix them up and sell them from his online store. Many of them do this.
Whats with the FFVII hate? Not a fan? Its easily the best game of all time still to this day imo so I would definitely snag a cheap copy like that if I had the chance
So you said you want recommendations for dating sims. I noticed you picked up a Gundam game The Mech franchise muv luv alternative is a spin off of a dating sim from what I understand. Maybe worth checking out
The consoles? I suppose they're not much cheaper here, I've seen them go for a lot. Check into the live streams and I'll show them of they're in a place.
Virtua Fighter on Saturn is worth it just for the soundtrack on it (thats why I kept it). Darkstalkers 3 on Sega Saturn uses the 4MB expansion cartridge and is excellent. Don't go buying PS1 Capcom fighting games when there is a Sega Saturn version because the PS1 is vastly inferior on everything. The Sega Saturn is incredible at fighting games. Hardoff grand openings seem like a cool thing, but unfortunately I cannot get half of that stuff home. Dalkstalkers 3 would have come home.
Yeah but my Saturn broke (stopped reading discs) and the PS1 versions are far cheaper most of the time lol I agree that the Saturn arcade ports are way more accurate but the PS1/2 ones play fine plus I have an arcade stick for it. Hope to find a Marvel Superheroes soon tho.
@@4amLaundry@4amLaundry I noticed a lot of Japanese hunters are ultimately price conscious on everything. The largest sale I've ever seen on TH-cam is Y67000 for carnival 92 (Recca) on Famicom. I just save up until I can buy it. That wouldn't make great video content though I admit. I watch for your treasure hunting and personality and I miss japan dearly so youre giving me a comfort as well. See you on the next one.
It's a big part of the "challenge" lol, I can save up and stalk Mercari to get whatever I want but having a big shelf filled with awesome games that were almost all under 1000 yen is a different kind of achievement I guess. Plus this gets me to the furthest places to make videos and find games while doing it.

Becoming one of my favorite new retro gaming channels! Keep it up!
I just subscribed. Loved the videos man… watching from Belfast UK
It's so nice seeing your channel take off lately man, keep it up!
Fun videos, planning to travel to Japan in 2025. Surely getting some retro stuff
I wish we had a chain of stores like Hard off in Australia, would make game hunting here much better. Thanks for the early access over on Patreon.
Tell me about it. Trying to get Mario golf for GBC to transfer chars to N64, nothing less than 50 bucks and all online 🥲

FF7 japanese version cost 4 bucks. Saw one here in my city going for 200 bucks with a beat up case and missing manuel smh..
That was insane! A lot of very good deals, it seems.
