Colton: Thanks for taking the time to CLEARLY label the on-screen comparisons and leave them on screen long enough to comprehend.. I have watched way too many videos of folks who just describe what they are displaying which leads to confusion. PS: Your voice is excellent - don't chang it to the overly excited - this is incredible - ow WOW - over the top dialog. Yours is just perfect.
Yeah I don't think I could ever have that persona. Far to forced an unnatural for me. I'm a nerd though so I am happy to share what I know. Glad that the comparison helped! The feedback is much appreciated.
Great video!!!! For a spot style ditch light what would you recommend S1 or S2 Pro. I ultimately want it with an amber lens. BD reports a amber spot lens for the S1 coming soon.
Honestly, if the money is available to step up to the S2 Pro it is worth it in my opinion! It is a better performer all around! The spot pattern opens up on all of the Baja Designs light so that would be a great pattern for sure. My order of hierarchy for you: S2 Pro > S1 > S2 Sport
Which lens would you put on the S1 in this case? I tried to get as apples to apples as I could! S1 unfortunately doesn't have any sort of "combo" option. I am always up for suggestions though!
@@hotshotoffroad I loved the video and you did a great job comparing apples to apples. I was just looking into the s2 pros and was curious how the combo lenses would look and maybe compare to the wide cornering s1? Maybe not a good video to compare but wanting the combo out of the s2 but the s1 seemed to do all I’d like as well
If you are looking for a jack-of-all-trades type of light that combo pattern in the S2 is an excellent choice. Definitely performs much better than a solo S1 in my opinion.
The 2 patterns that were tested in this video were the spot and wide cornering patterns. There is no S2 laser so we did not have anything to compare an S1 laser to. As for the flood pattern we could have done that comparison, but we generally don’t recommend a flood pattern mounted above the hood-line unless you have them pointed very much out to the sides to avoid hood splash.
The patterns that were compared in the video are spot patterns and wide cornering patterns. Since the S1 does not have a comparable combo pattern we did not test the S2 in a combo.
I am looking at both of these options as an aux high beam for my 2021 4Runner. Which of these two lights do you think would be better suited to come on with my stock Bi-LEDs as an additional high beam? Thanks!
Both of them are going to be a good high beam supplement, but I strongly encourage you to select a spot pattern if you choose Baja Designs. Their lights have some spill as a product of their design. Personally, if you are looking for a high beam supplement I am going to recommend the Diode Dynamics SSC2 in the driving pattern. It has significantly less light spill and will help your eyes maintain focus down-road instead of up close. If you are looking for more "all-around" support though the Baja Designs are still a great option. It comes down to the external visual profile you are after at that point.
@@hotshotoffroad yes...i have a squadron pro amber driving combo setup and i want to maybe add or the s1 attached to the squadrons or a s2 pro on the side on the same ditch bracket.... not sure if that will look too much.. also, not decided yet.... :(
Hmm... I didn't measure distance per se, but I can tell you that the spot pattern aimed slightly out is probably your best bet. The pattern opens up relatively quickly, and they will put some good light downrange. Atop that, changing lenses is relatively cheap so you have that going for you if you decide you wanted a wide pattern later! We can certainly get you a set of S1s if you're in the market now! hotshotoffroad.com/products/s1-led-light-pair?_pos=4&_sid=bdbc63edd&_ss=r
to my eyes, the S1s looked a bit better. IMO though. I dont need a ditch light on my right side to be lighting up the left side of the trees when ill have a ditch light on the left for that....
Completely agree with your light aiming. If you have good forward facing support lighting you would generally not have ditch lights aimed in this manner (straight ahead). After this video I'm motivated to do dual lights on these comparisons. A little more raw output will be better for the night shooting. I have additionally made a small upgrade in the camera department as well that should hopefully make the output difference (if any) more easily identifiable!
Well, finally someone does a video on EXACTLY what we need to see. Thanks man for all your hard work!!!
Glad I could help! Finally getting back to filming so I should be able to do more as well.
I know this was a year ago but I find nothing wrong with what you call the "Robot" voice. It is clear concise and gets the info across very well.
I’ll happily accept that feedback! The support is much appreciated!
Thank you for the amazing comparison. Of all the videos out there, your was the BEST BY FAR. I will buy the S1's thanks to you.
Glad I could help!
Amazing video, short and gets he point across without a bunch of rambling nonsense. Also a great smile.
Ha thank you! I'm not much for BS anyway so I'm glad that's the format you prefer because I think that I can keep that up!

Still a valid review vid. You did a fine job. I especially like the added comments in regards to what "you" saw from the cab.
Yeah we've got some more coming finally, and there will absolutely be more "experience" stitched in.
Just got my yellow S2 wide corner set today excited to mount them in my bumper
Awesome - They're excellent in that position. Low and wide!
@hotshotoffroad I can't wait
Thanks for making this video Colton! Loved it!
Glad you enjoyed it! I've been terribly busy as of late, but I have a bunch more planned soon, and will be back to posting!
For s2 pro which pattern is best for fog light

I’d like to know how the s2 pro combo lenses compare to the s1. Great video

Glad it was helpful! Appreciate you dropping by.
great comparison video man!!!
Thank you!
Perfect review for me. Thank you!

Which S1 is this? Is there not a S1 lazer and S1 flood light?

great comparison. watching this the 3rd time
Quick question is the S2 connection plug the same on the S1?
Yes they sure are! 2-pin weatherpack connectors
Was this the wide cornering or driving combo? s2 pro
The patterns that were compared in the video are spot patterns and wide cornering patterns. Since the S1 does not have a comparable combo pattern we did not test the S2 in a combo.

For the wide cornering with the s2 pro was there any glare on the hood?
There will certainly be some glare on the hood with any pattern, but I didn't find that there was enough glare to be distracting for me as a driver.
it is possible to add a baja design squadron pro with a s2 pro on a same ditch light...or the squadron pro with the S1.....???
Yeah. A handful of ditch bracket manufacturers make extensions to allow you to mount a 2nd light per side. Is that what you mean?
@@hotshotoffroad yes...i have a squadron pro amber driving combo setup and i want to maybe add or the s1 attached to the squadrons or a s2 pro on the side on the same ditch bracket.... not sure if that will look too much.. also, not decided yet.... :(
Oh you want to attach the S1 to the squadron itself? I’ve only ever seen that done on the XL lights as they have 2 bolts on the side
@@hotshotoffroad i think it can be done..i am not sure..
How far out did the S1s go for spot and wide? I'm thinking of getting 1 of each S1 for my motorcycle!

Nice what about the DD SSC2 how do they do against the BD Looking for something for my Jeep A-pillar
Keep your eyes peeled for a quick recap of them coming very soon!
Thanks for the great content man!
Glad I could help!
Hey man, Mud Kings Mafia here, great content. What brackets are those?
These ones on the Taco in this video are Rago Fab ones! The only ones I would recommend for 2nd Gen Tacomas are these or the SDHQ ones.
Thanks man, I was looking for a double mount for a 2002 F150
Hmm... I can certainly browse around!
Great video sir!
Thank you kindly!
Domo arigato! Great video misuta Roboto.
Haha! Well thank you! I love me a good STYX reference.
Good job what I needed to know.
Excellent. Glad that it helped!
For pure high speed light, I recommend Squadron Pro w/ spot-clear lenses.
Great stuff!
Thanks for stickin around!
Good job.

Imagine what two S1s would do against one S2pro at virtually same footprint... At very similar price to boot.
Idk man I think both s1’s were better than the s2’s
That's alright! That's what I do these for is to allow you to be able to draw your own conclusions as well. :)
The fuckin clown comment caught me off guard LMAO
Gotta sneak an easter egg in there every once in a while!
I disagree s1 is great!
