@@Jake-Balibari Thanks for the advice :D But before that I´ll have to fix some things on CZ-1 because I got it fairly cheap and it is corresponding condition. But nonetheless it works and is amazing :D
I always wanted one. I remember having a Casio pamphlet on their synths and have owned the 101 and the 3000. but recently bought the CZ1 and just love it.
The CZ1 and VZ1 are the most underrated synths….sound like an hybrid analog / digital synth although it s purely digital. But PD synthesis is amazing. VZ1 heavily used by Kim Wild keyboardist and CZ by Vince Clark of DM , Yazoo Etasure , also Deelite etc etc
Sounds killer. I did pick up a CZ-5000 in great shape a few months back. Love it. Maybe The 1 will be something I'll add later? I love the CZ series so much. Good video.
As the proud owner (twice) of a CZ1, I must say this is the most astute comment of the lot. You get those envelopes right and nothing beats the insane length you can get these too. And the subtle shifts in pitch over long periods are great, now just ring modulate the two and instant ONLY PD SYNTHESIS can give you.
If it's your first synth, it may be a bit difficult to program without help. Otherwise, the architecture have a lot to do with traditional analog synthesis. The first thing I would recomend is to start with 1 single DCO, and set the end of the 3 envelopes to step 4 max., it's enough. I have the scan of the book "100 patches for Casio CZ", I can send you the pdf
@@Jake-Balibari That’d be amazingly appreciated maestro! The only other synth Ive put any hours into was my MicroKorg in like 2009’ which I learned pretty quickly but this does seem like an entirely different beast. Any literature or vids are welcome along with any patch recommendations buys
Hi Jake, could you help me with an info. I have a cz-1, but it creates a clearly listenable voice on the output, as well as the headphone output is really quiet. Is this the usual behaviour of the cz-1, or is it broken, what do you think? I really appreciate your help.
Hello Robert, what you describe seems to be a common issue on the CZ-1. It may come from the DPDT relay. Its replacement should fix the problem. Here is a link to the page who ewplains the operation youthvulture.blogspot.com/2013/11/casio-cz-1-relay-replacement.html
Love your music on the CZ! I just found 4 volumes of patches from Satoshi and Makoto. Will I be able to store them on a stock CZ-1 or will I need a memory card? I'm assuming it will overwrite the patches I have on it now? Never tried to download patches for it, Thanks!
Thank you for your message. There are various ways to save and load banks on your CZ. You can buy a RAM cartridge but these are quite rare and expensive. They allow to make a backup of the whole 64 sounds and 64 patches. The cheapest ( and most efficient in my opinion) is to buy the excellent Virtual CZ software. Bonus : it's a real virtual machine sounding almost like the hardware CASIO. You can load and arrange banks, send them to the CZ, save the CZ internal memory, etc. Last: there is a hardware machine that you connect to the MIDI port and contains more than 1000 patches, and that can load patches via an editor. It's the PL-88 (or tle CZPL) from Lewis MIDI.
@@Jake-Balibari Thank you so much for the options! For a free option, do you know if sysex librarian for mac would work to transfer single patches back and forth? P.S. I use a similar addon card for my d-50 and dx7 called hcard. They are both really handy.
@@anonymous_friend there are many free librarians/editors for the cz line. I have tested none of them. Vzv for instance, CZeditor... You should try them
Beautiful, haunting sounds.. Please do some more vIDeOs oN the CZ-1.
I bought one myself just yesterday and I am so amazed by it ❤️
You can buy the excellents patches from Satoshi & Makoto, the kings of CASIO CZ - Sound Data Vol.2

You should purchase a CZ/PL88 mini for your Casio! Game changer
this sounds amazing. Pinnacle of Casio's golden age here!

Nice patches!
I got a CZ-1 for my birthday! I’ve been scouring the internet for a hands on video on how to create my own sounds but alas I’ve come up empty handed😢.

Don't be sad, there are other Casio synths than these....
these things are expensive!
