Hi. I was looking for a video on the Casio sk-10 (idk if it got deleted, unlisted, or made private) when I saw this (said video had a bell in the key of A being used for sampling so I really liked it, and no filter is helping) + I think it was one of your vids IIRC. If it wasn't, I'll just stop looking for it since AFAIK it's basically gone; if it is, it's up to you if you wish to answer. I know it isn't 100% relevant to this video, but this is the closest to contacting someone I think may have made it, especially since channel discussion pages no longer exist.

It's amazing just how much the CZ line gets slept on. The patches one can make for ambient tracks are amazing, even compared to the more popular Yamaha FM synths.

If there is a machine that deserved development, it is the SP-16. An ease of use never equaled. The engineers who developed this machine, have touched perfection.

Why Korg gave this synth only 3 octaves is a mystery... it is worthy of 4 or more. You did a great job on the case.

how would compare the sound to a fm synth?

I can't really compare fm synthesis with this because i haven't played a casio synth.

Les sons que tu arrives à sortir de cette machine son vraiment incroyables et je n'arrive pas, de mon côté, à produire des choses aussi subtiles et aussi mouvantes avec mon R3... Stunning. Just got this out of the box to sell but now having a play! Its been tucked away for some time without use. A hidden gem perhaps?

This entire demo sounds like one fantastic ambient composition - way better than overrated Brian Eno albums and the ones alike. Listened through entire video without skipping and tremendously enjoyed it!

That R3 is somewhat of an underrated missed gem I think. I traded a Cs2x for an R3 as I wanted to know what kind if thingy it was, swapping plastic for plastic so to speak (don't get me wrong, I adore the CS2x, still got one left ánd the CS1x ánd AN1x) turned oud the R3 needed maintenance pretty bad. Keys were broken and glued together to a lumb, everything filthy inside, missed a rotarycap, big encoder all messed up, skipping half the menu, and more of that. Once that was all fixed I started to play a little and by surprise, even the factory presets already sounded pretty good! Was very surprised when I heard the organ. Editing on the machine itself seems to be a bit annoying, but Korg delivered their own editor, so that's a huge plus and a feature Roland needs to take example from 😊 Thanks for this vid, mod well done!

I'd take the immense usability and performability over an overly-complex MPC _any_ day. The SP-16 was clearly meant to play nicely with other gear as well, and the very specific limitations provide a nice palette where you don't feel as if your next piece of gear is overlapping functionality too much. You know _where_ to expand from the SP-16, and such expansion feels natural. This is further enunciated by the other hidden gem of the Toraiz series, the AS-1✨

I’ve had mine for a few years and the sp16 has been the cornerstone of my setup. It has never crashed on me, unlike the maschine + and the MPC Live 2. Granted, it is limited in many areas but it makes up for it with its simplicity and routing options. I’ve even had a DJS 1000 but ended up selling it because didn’t have the outs the Sp16 has.

I used to own this in the 80's with the original black rack. You had to use a special sticker to put on the tape for 4 track mode.

Nice strings and drums. The rest of it sounded very standard - Same digital sounds we've been hearing since the '90s, nce quality though. What sound shaping possibilities exist with this unit? Also, interesting to see Young Chang make them in USA now. I've got an old PC2R, was made by Young Chang in Korea

Thanks for this - I have a 1000PX but one of the rare one's that got upgraded to the PX Plus spec. Samples are actually higher bit rate than the K250, but the biggest difference is the K250's A/D converters clipped a lot of high frequencies - actually making it sound warmer.
