Just got my Ibanez THBB10 from Andertons yesterday. Amazing service from Andertons and amazing guitar. Would recommend both Andertons and the guitar to everyone. Bought a Gibson Les Paul Standard 60's last year from them as well and the experience was seamless then also. Very helpful and very good contact with their customers over their support email.
I have the special 22 SH LTD. I call it my middle-income man's super eagle. Great guitar, love it. Also have a swamp Ash special with 3 narrow field pu's. The narrow fields for me are cross between p90 and mini hb.
My view on the flexibility of these PRS' is that they're great if you only want one guitar to get lots of tones from. I've gigged predominantly with a Les Paul for 27 years now, but I want a guitar that will do the Les Paul thing (or very close to it) and also get me in the Strat ballpark, together with a trem that stays in tune. The weight relief is a big deal too, as an aging rocker with a bad back 😆 If they did these with solid colours, it would be a nice option. Not everything needs a flame-top.
@Andertons. Can you please tell me if you personally felt a difference in vibe between the 2021 Special and the limited run between 2018 and 2020? Technically the PuP’s are different and the Nitro CAB finish (although some original Ltd Specials were made with the new finish on 2020), but did you personally notice any difference in feel and tone beyond the differences you can feel from comparing multiple serial numbers of the same guitar model? Just curious on the Andertons team opinions. Thanks
Gorgeous guitars! Personnally I don't mind a split humbucker which is a bit weaker as it adds a level of gain control on top of turning down the volume (split mode preserves the brighteness compared to turning down a HB). With a good single channel tube amp with some grit, this gives you great dynamic cleanish tones.
There is something special about PRS pickups. Even clean they are raunchy at high volume. You have to put the volume right down to get really clean tones. Takes a bit of getting used to but, man they are amazing. What does the semi-hollow sound like as an acoustic? Is there enough volume for a bit of quiet noodling? Thanks guys! Excellent entertainment.

Just bought this guitar today. 1st electric I’ve bought in 27 years. Have wanted a PRS since the late 80’s. I okay in the vein of Garcia and Knopfler and this should do nicely. My only concern is I have medium size hands by glove size, and hoping I’ll like the pattern neck as it sounds like it’s chunkier. I wonder what size hands Pete has?
@@lewisjones4158 Well, it’s hard to answer at this juncture because of a few complicating factors: My action came insanely high. Not sure what happened there. So I didn’t get that experience of a perfectly set up premium PRS. It was pretty much unplayable for me. I lowered the action myself but still haven’t taken it to the local shop to get a good set up, but it’s close enough that I can tell how it will be. The string spacing is a little wider than I’m used to, and it threw me at first. I think it’s just gonna be a matter of making this my main axe and putting in the hours to gain the muscle memory needed. I’m hoping that after going through that I will find some unanticipated pros to having a wider chunkier neck. Sorry I don’t have a more definitive answer by now. 🤷🏼♂️
I’ve been alternating between my 335, Les Paul, Jazzmaster and Strat and honestly thought those guitars were as good as guitars get. Then I played this. On a different planet, I kid you not. And could easily replace those four guitars combined. Stupid expensive, yes, but just wait til you play one.
Simply because there have been so many made, there are far more secondhand Gibson and Fenders up for sale even if you only count the ones made while PRS have been producing guitars. You can test this out by looking at how many lefty PRS's are on the used market, you will find very few
Could be any number of reasons. Covid consequences, economic downturn, people needing cashflow boosts by selling easily liquidated high value toys (art, cars, guitars).
At about 20:45 - The Captain's not sure what the tonal purpose of the semi-hollow is. I can Clearly hear it, particularly in the attack while using clean tones. Same with the old Fender Tele Thinline semi-hollow guitars; there is just a little more 'push' behind the attack. Also, I feel like the hollow construction adds a bit of roundness to the overdriven tones. I Love this model. I'll be saving up for years. Hope to still find one then!

Rabea? Lockdown travel restrictions. Chapman? Heavy duty lockdown restrictions. Moved to Malta, international travel restrictions, weeks in isolation to shoot a few days of vids etc. Both have done the odd appearance, and more once restrictions ease.

@@dicktaylor9054 "affordable" is an ad agency buzzword because they don't want the negative connotations of saying "cheapest". The title is asking whether the 4k Special model is more affordable than the 12k Super Eagle model? Of course it is. Can I afford it? Not without significant lifestyle sacrifices elsewhere. Being more affordable than 12k isn't saying that it's outright affordable to all, in the same way a £120k Vantage is undeniably more affordable than a £225k DBS Superleggera. The video title isn't patronising anyone's level of income. It's tiptoing around saying the Special is a cheaper Super Eagle. High end brands have a loathing for any association with the word cheap. Though I agree Anderton's should have forseen the shitstorm misinterpretation and reaction to the title. Incidentally, the PM can't afford his own redecoration bills, and was paid more as a journalist.
@@PaulCooksStuff I appreciate the effort in trying to explain the intricacies of marketing psychology and semantics. However, there are virtues in being straightforward and explicit as well. The concept that the public needs to have everything spun, and is tooull to make up their own minds when given simple, clear information is rather patronizing, and lies at the root of so much misunderstanding these days. BoJo did earn much more as a journalist ( once he had stopped making stuff up and being fired) and so one does wonder, given his needs, quite why he gave up his comfortable hybrid lifestyle in favour of relative penury and having to scrounge off of tory party donors for wallpaper, ready meals and holidays!

Thanks
i have the 2019 model and it's by far the best guitar i've ever owned and i've also got an EJ strat and ES-Les Paul from the Memphis shop.
Can you do a PRS 509 Review? Great work mates!
What im seeing? This is art
Great guitar ...Love mine the Flame Maple neck really makes it sparkle, the LT's are split , the originals had MT's which were tapped.
I have one of these on order. CAN'T WAIT, DAMMIT!!
I WANT the Special the Captain has !!!!
Have to say that the captain has really a good taste for tones and really like his gentle touch on the strings.
Just bought second hand SG and a Flynn second hand 5e3 Tweed Deluxe. I’m in heaven… What to do with the other 3 grand???
Wait 6-12 months and buy a used one of these?
Great video guys! Thanks
We need that opening backing track in our playlists NOW!
“PRS 58/15 low turn pick ups..” haha Pete, you goose 😂
If they made a 24 fret version of the Special 22, that would be the ultimate guitar for me.
Middle position is not the narrowfield pickup ... it's the bridge and neck humbuckers, right?
PRS is on a Roll .
From the Studio.
To The Special .
To Modern Eagle V.
Great gigging Guitars.
Beautifully Designed from the different Tones , Playability,
Colours.
Guitar for All in One done Right.
Loving that Purple Iris.
What's the best one?
That's a real hard call.
I personally own Modern Eagle V.
Studio as well.
Special I'm looking around.
Any of the 3.
Can't go wrong.
I'm curious to know how you got on with the pattern neck? Let me know!
@@lewisjones4158 Well, it’s hard to answer at this juncture because of a few complicating factors:
My action came insanely high.
Off peist a wee bit, Question why is the second hand market loaded with prs guitars? Respect and stay healthy all.
👀
Simply because there have been so many made, there are far more secondhand Gibson and Fenders up for sale even if you only count the ones made while PRS have been producing guitars. You can test this out by looking at how many lefty PRS's are on the used market, you will find very few
Is the second hand market loaded with PRS guitars? 🤔
Approx 40 in a week on just gumtree alone.?
Y’all sneaky with that Intro jam chord progression😂 Feels a little reminiscent of I Guess I Just Feel Like;0
Danish Pete’s PRS just wants to sing
Hi guys, for when an S2 594 vid as they are a bit more affordable? Thanks
are these coming to the USA? cause I might have to pull the trigger on that purple one haha
I have a PRS McCarty 594 double cut, is the special worth getting?
For fast fingerpicking Kotzen is a beast. You should check out Andre Nieri too.
Wish you guys were in the US. These things are supper hard to find in stock states side.
I really hope John buys him that guitar for his birthday. It may be a year before it happens again...
The inspiration? Could it be that FINALLY the captain is listening dead & co?
Some 'banging' sounds there from you two young men! Nice guitars indeed.
Yeah lee I love you. You're great.
Well that affordable question has been answered.
I've been wanting to buy this model for ages now but none has reached my country(South Korea)...No preorders available even! When would I be able to test it out my god..please help.
Buy one via Andertons!
@@ces69 I'd love to test them out before I spend that much money, though I'd also love to buy from Lee! Btw, none of them are in stock in Andertons anyway..says i'd have to wait more than 3months even if i click to purchase right now...just have to wait i guess. but thanks!
🎶And I'm... innnnnnnnnnn repair 🎶
Only 4000 pound that’s a steal
Mark Knopler and Albert king! Great finger style players
Guys this PRS Semi Hollow Body Special or the Pete Thorn Signature Series Suhr ?
The middle pickup shouldn't be active on it's own. Mine is the neck and bridge in the middle position. And please tell me what OD Pete was using in the opening riff. His tone was eerily similar to the Vibrochamp reverb video when he used a tele.
Gigging with a PRS? (Around 19:00) Watch some GOOSE! That's some brilliant PRS picking ... and Rick Mitarotonda's has been on the road for many a year.
way to go Chris Buck! being mentioned with legendary players with great tones when not using a pick. 😁
What are those flashing numbers on the right? I must know...
Volume level in the room, dB I think
Just by sight of those finishes....$4K axes.
And I’m out of kidneys....
Hi Guys, I've checked your JAM-tracks but I can't find the backing track you're jamming to here... How do I find it? Thanks!
If Jerry and Trey had a baby bro. Thanks for tge video.
I could never afford one of these but they sound great. I think I would prefer push/pull rather than switches.
agd the recipe of dope af backin track
i have a 2015 trans black custom 24 SE with dimarzios on her. people dont see anything but the birds.
The opening jam sounded a bit like John Mayer playing for The Dead & Company.
Love you guys you are so fun , and wow can you play guitar many thanks to you 👍🏻🎸🏴
Where does the "affordable" part come in?
Relative to a super eagle.
Hey… first of all, they just asked a question in the title. Secondly, compared to the cost of a super eagle, this is more affordable. It’s math. Y’all need to calm your knickers and not attack our boys so hard. 😂
is there an 'un' missing?
I haven't watched for very long so I don't know where to went. Did he quit?
Rabea? Lockdown travel restrictions.
Chapman? Heavy duty lockdown restrictions. Moved to Malta, international travel restrictions, weeks in isolation to shoot a few days of vids etc.
Both have done the odd appearance, and more once restrictions ease.
@@PaulCooksStuff ok thanks mate, forgot to white names and I wrote "to" i stead of "he". Sorry for the confusion .
Just to put it in context, you do know that one of these is half a year’s uni tuition fees in the UK don’t you Lee? I know that it’s also about ten days take away bill for the PM, but its still a bit patronizing.
Then be grateful they did a video on this model? It's the closest I'll ever come to seeing/hearing one. Same as staring through the window at the Aston Martin dealership where even their most "affordable" model is way beyond my means. I can still be grateful they exist.
@@PaulCooksStuff True, but I don’t think that many people would describe an Aston as affordable, do you?
@@dicktaylor9054 we'll have to agree to differ. The title "an affordable super eagle?" is, to me, straightforward, explicit, simple and clear. Is the Special an affordable Super Eagle. Not "is the Special affordable" in isolation.
Would you fight Jack White?
Can anyone identify those 3 pedals on Pete’s board?
These two have the neck pickup the right way up (like my one) but some have the neck pickup reversed (screws closer to middle) anyone know why that is?
