I'm still very convinced that this game was never originally meant to be part of the Arkham universe until higher management stepped in. If it was gonna be part of any comic universe, it should have been part of the Injustice universe, where they already set up the Brainiac mind control plot twist. Make dickhead Superman the final boss and make it the fun mean spirited power romp it was clearly meant to be.

An example is the Argus Recordings, which make Superman look like a colossal dumbass for getting the JL mind controlled in the first place. I'm led to believe that this game was supposed to be its own separate thing until someone in WB stepped in and forced them to make another Arkham game featuring The Squad. This forced Rocksteady to rush to change it and that's why this game is so inconsistent.

It's actually interesting how strong the story starts in this game. It really sells the feeling of you facing down impossible odds, showing how dangerous the JL are under Brainiac's control, and having reminders that under the brainwashing, they're genuine heroes with a real tragedy in what has happened to them. But I think the game suffers from three critical issues. 1. The Suicide Squad themselves. The JL have been brainwashed into becoming weapons of mass destruction, hellbent on taking over Earth in Brainiac's name, and yet I STILL feel like they're more likeable than the Suicide Squad themselves. There's no real growth, no real change in them from beginning to end, beyond the barebones "We weren't a team, and now we're a team." I think the game would have improved a lot if the Suicide Squad started the same way they do, but slowly come to terms with the scope of what they're being forced to do, the gravity of what their actions mean. They're KILLING the Justice League, the greatest heroes in the world. Flash sacrificed himself to save Harley's life, a woman who has done nothing but raise hell for Batman and his allies, and yet when they kill Flash, they literally have to stop Boomerang from pissing on his corpse. Have their reservations grow with each member that goes down. By the time we reach Batman and Superman, I think if the Squad had grown to the point where even THEY want to find another way but can't, it'd make them so much more likeable. 2. This has been an issue with many versions of the Suicide Squad, but it's fully realized here: this idea that they're the Earth's only hope if Superman or the Justice League went rogue. None of the Suicide Squad ever seem like they could conceivably pose a threat to any of the Justice League. Which I get is the idea. But even as the game goes on, the game never manages to actually sell you on its premise. It never feels like the Suicide Squad could actually KILL the Justice League, and it never feels believable when they do. Even in gameplay, there's really nothing interesting to it. All the kills amount to the same thing: shoot them with your shoot-bang guns. The only member they could believably take down this way is Batman himself, but since we KNOW that this is Arkhamverse Batman, and we've SEEN AND FELT what he's capable of in a fight, even THAT goes right out the window. 3. You can really feel the exact moment that the game has to stop, grab you by the hand, and practically say out loud to you "By the way, we're a live service game. Here's 5 minutes to explain in-universe how we're going to totally be a live service game. Inevitably none of your actions will be meaningless, because saving the world would mean ending the stream of content, and we all know that we can't allow that to happen!" Being live service doesn't just hurt the gameplay; it hurts the STORY, because by the time you reach the credits, the game has to explain how despite everything you've done, you haven't REALLY won the fight yet. You killed the Justice League, made it all the way to Braniac, but it doesn't count until you kill like 13 more Braniacs, so better get back to that grind!

I need a prequel Arkham Harley Quinn game where she got all this alleged character development. She never stopped being Joker obsessed as far as we knew. Never got to heal with Ivy. STILL DOESN'T GET TO HEAL WITH IVY BECAUSE NOW IVY IS A TODDLER. Like, I've always wanted Arkham HQ to become the Harley I love, but it's just super unearned in this game. And, like, Harley in the Arkham games was kinda a ditzy blonde. Now she's a doctor of neural biology?? Don't get me wrong, I love smart Harley. I've never liked Arkhaverse Harley because she was a little too stupid. It's just weird that she's suddenly neither dumb nor Joker obsessed. I want to see the character development play out!
When you first meet Batman he hunt you down with stealth like he would in the Arkham games but when you fight him in the actual boss fight he just fear gasses. You only beat the Batman because he got lazy and the justice league is just playing with you. The Flash just ripped a guys heart out a few minutes ago but an actual fight he decides to run a tornado and use speed clones. The suicide squad does not compete
The Cope/Hope in the beginning is truely sad. Reminds me of myself the first time I watched the last Jedi. I lied to myself for a whole Month that the the movie was any good since it was the last movie I saw with my Dad (still alive just last movie we watched) who was in the cinema back when a new hope was still called " Star Wars". I think the most heartbreaking part of this game is how much potential there was. With good writers it could’ve at least been decent. But there’s so much shit in this game’s plot that genuinely make no sense in the lore of DC. A damn shame.
The problem is that also relied on a LOT of things going out of character for it to even happen. They harp on how Jon Stewart-a Marine veteran and career police enforcer-has a bitter rivalry with his logical nemesis in a well-meaning criminal: Deadshot. Strangely, this judicious nature isn't apparent with an alien in a giant Skull-Shaped ship, who he could call Oa for reinforcements or even checking the space license plates. There was no attempt to research Brainiac, nor did Superman use his X-Ray vision to see into the ship. Wonder Woman and The Flash also refused to save Metropolis or even try and 2v3 The Justice League. Barry almost won against Jon Stewart. Wonder Woman shows up and she would be able to at the *minimum* incapacitate him.

@@ScuffedJeo I don’t know man, these are characters that we’ve all seen perform feats that don’t really make sense with their characterization, I doubt as many people would be mad at something like the Flash or Batman fight if we hadn’t seen the flash blow through a suit of high tech armor or easily dodge bullets just a bit earlier, it’d be fine if it was I justice Flash and he isn’t quite so fast, but we’ve already seen that he could just beat them if he so wished, and should be immune to their one form of attack. Same goes for Batman, if we hadn’t already gotten four games of this Batman’s tactics he uses to beat those he fights, especially seeing as we already got a look at what would happen if this Batman turned evil in Arkham Knight, I don’t think people would be mad.

I think this game could’ve been much more well regarded if it did 2 things 1. Put it in its own universe (I haven’t play the Arkham games but I know that upset a lot of people what they did to some of the characters) 2. Makes this game a lot more crude and gorey. I loved what the 2021 suicide squad did so go off of that. The characters just a felt a tiny bit watered down than what you would expect.
Every review that I've seen has focused on the story and characters being bad. It's cool that you're showing gameplay and costumes because it is now very clear that those are bad also
This Game is a Mistake, who ask for a Server Shooting Game when you kill the Justice League and Retcon every single thing about the Arkhamverse? Nobody, we should have gotten a Superman, Batman Beyond, or a Justice League Game, King Shark is my Favorite by the Way and some of the Designs are Solid like the Justice League, plus hearing Kevin Conroy’s Voice as Batman is Music to my Ears so I still don’t understand why they Skipped Awesome Dialogue in the Contingency Plans? Injustice 2 is miles Better.
I feel like the style of this game just wasn’t really made for DC, I feel like if similar gameplay was made for a game about something else like The Boys and actually had a good story and writing, it would be a home run.
Oh no. Retcons and heroes dying in a comic property? Never seen that in the 40+ years of the industry. The game is a problem. Yes. The characters should play differently instead of just guns. But the bones are good. The character's are well done and if you pay attention, there is a lot of evidence that shows that isn't even the real JL they "kill".

"I'm having fun man" we all were at the beginning :') For the first 1-2 hours Until you realize the game is literally the same 5 missions over and over again (with an occasional 6th or 7th that is a twist on what was already there), from main missions to side content
My one complaint about how this video came out is that I cut alot of the descent into madness towards the end of the game and really primarily showed the parts I liked. But I completely agree, it starts out like "oh this isn't actually so bad!" then when you're doing the same exact mission 7 hours later it wears on you.

Genuinely baffled at how people seem to care so much about how Batman was treated, but they have nothing to say about how poorly the other heroes are utilized. Superman doesn’t even get any dialogue after his fight, it’s ridiculous
100% agree. But its entirely because of legacy. To the Arkhamverse, the JL are new entities. Haven't been built up over years and years of incredible games where you're playing as them. To a lot of people Arkham Batman is THEIR Batman, on top of it being Kevin Conroy's last time playing the character. I'm not even that mad that Harley was the one that did it, I just wish they at least gave him like a real heroic send off or something instead of an unceremonious headshot being used as bait for Superman. There's plenty reason fans aren't happy with it. That said, every gets done dirty. I feel like Superman had like 3 lines the entire game, GL & Deadshot absolutely hate each other and its never explained why, I'd say the Flash is the only one that actually had some good dialogue since we got to see him before he turned.

I bought the game to honor Kevin Conroy and, Arleen Sorkin. I seriously tried to give the game a chance. It was made or I thought it was by the same people that made the Batman games. It suffered the same fate as the Halo TV show. I saw the very exact problems. They couldn't follow the lore right. It didn't make sense for everyone to fly up to the skull ship. They disrespected everyone. Green Lantern still haing his ring when he turned evil. King Shark putting it on after. No mention of the other superheros during the crisis. We can seriously spend all day picking this game apart. Then they try to spin the story around with some woke B.S. Saying if you hate the the game. You hate gay people and Kevin. No we hate the game due to how bad it is. Not following the lore of the universe. You cant just ignore the D.C comic story. Come in and do what you want. They didnt get the memo when the Halo Tv came out it seems. Kevin Conroy was Batman. He was awesome. Hes the reason why I got into comic books in the 90s. I was devastated when I heard the news. Honestly I think there are a couple of key changes that could be made that would “improve” the game in my eyes: Change 1: Make the game not take place in the Arkhamverse so that we can have a new justice league that is maybe even not so perfect. Establish that the reason this league lost to Brainiac was not because they lacked the power, but rather because they lacked the conviction, the moral strength, and real grit it takes to be heroes. Change 2: Have the Brainiac final boss be unique (not a flash clone), and have the game end with the death of Braniac from our universe ending the invasion here. If you want to keep the live service side of the game, have it be that each season is fighting other universe Brainiac’s with other universe squads. Would the game be fixed? Well to me personally no. I think that the gameplay would need some more touchups before I could really fall in love with it. But would it be as god awful as everyone says it is now? Probably not (hopefully not).
I think this was really it for the Arkhamverse, as James Gunn wants everything to be DCU. I can't really see WB Montreal and Rocksteady being allowed to work on their own universes (particularly as Gotham Knights and Kill the Justice League just not being good games).
How the F were the boss fights the best part?! They are all brain dead and make ZERO sense! They don't use half of their powers so our characters get to shoot them?! And then there's that moronic batman fight. Forget about the redundant gameplay, the disrespect and all the live service BS. This game's story has so many plot holes it resembles Swiss cheese. 6.5 is way too good. It's a 4.5 or 5 at best. Imagine if Thor went around shooting enemies instead of using his powers!!!
When I see this game, I get the same feeling as with those 90's comics where DC just decided to fuck their characters up. Killing off superman, bane breaking batman's back, wonder woman getting enslaved or something (I can't find the exact name of the comic) and probably some other hero getting their shit kicked in. I’m playing through the game myself rn in may free time, and as someone who knows jackshit about DC ( I only ever kept up with Batman stuff cause that’s the only hero/villains that really interested me ) im enjoying the game and from a outside perspective it’s fun, now I only watched up to where I have played in game , and let me tell you, the game is slowly falling off , I last killed Superman and well, that fight sucked, and rn after all that, learning about the fight all brainiacs from all dimensions , feels like filler cause the game was meant to be longer and they ran out of ideas , now I haven’t seen the ending, all I know is it’s bullshit , don’t spoil it , I want to be disappointed when I see it first hand. But that’s just a small rant from a non dc fan who’s friends wanted to play the game with her. So she has it , also games so much more fun in co-op cause you can be competitive with your friends and battle to see who gets most kills and so forth. Also I like this Harley , not the design god no, I kept her in her straight jacket till I got her throw back outfit cause god the haircut and outfit they made for her for this game is terrible. And small edit, no I haven’t played the Arkham games, but two days ago a friend bought them all for me. So I’ll be playing through them. Will my opinion change after, probably.
It’s reasons like this why I hate fortnights influence on this industry with live service, cosmetics, gun skins, but modern companies just use the live service as an excuse to be as lazy as possible all while maximizing the amount of money and time invested into the shitty product. I just want actual worth while content, not 100 tiers to grind through for shit that is practically useless to me. Especially gun blueprints. I’d rather have the seasons pass back for games instead and of the live service garbage that has to be in nearly every damn game. And don’t even get me started on the level of disrespect all these writers have showed all of our legacy characters over the years, like Jole from TLOU, Batman, Han Solo, indiana jones, James Bond,master chief, Luke skywalker, anakin skywalker, obi wan, the list of destroyed characters is almost never ending. I need a prequel Arkham Harley Quinn game where she got all this alleged character development. She never stopped being Joker obsessed as far as we knew. Never got to heal with Ivy. STILL DOESN'T GET TO HEAL WITH IVY BECAUSE NOW IVY IS A TODDLER. Like, I've always wanted Arkham HQ to become the Harley I love, but it's just super unearned in this game.
And, like, Harley in the Arkham games was kinda a ditzy blonde. Now she's a doctor of neural biology?? Don't get me wrong, I love smart Harley. Unironically the thumbnail is a better design for Harley Quinn than the one in the game.
When you first meet Batman he hunt you down with stealth like he would in the Arkham games but when you fight him in the actual boss fight he just fear gasses. You only beat the Batman because he got lazy and the justice league is just playing with you. The Flash just ripped a guys heart out a few minutes ago but an actual fight he decides to run a tornado and use speed clones. The suicide squad does not compete

I think the most heartbreaking part of this game is how much potential there was. With good writers it could’ve at least been decent. But there’s so much shit in this game’s plot that genuinely make no sense in the lore of DC. A damn shame.
It's best that this game took place in a parallel timeline, where the Justice League failed to stop Brainiac.
The problem is that also relied on a LOT of things going out of character for it to even happen. They harp on how Jon Stewart-a Marine veteran and career police enforcer-has a bitter rivalry with his logical nemesis in a well-meaning criminal: Deadshot. Strangely, this judicious nature isn't apparent with an alien in a giant Skull-Shaped ship, who he could call Oa for reinforcements or even checking the space license plates. There was no attempt to research Brainiac, nor did Superman use his X-Ray vision to see into the ship.
Wonder Woman and The Flash also refused to save Metropolis or even try and 2v3 The Justice League. Barry almost won against Jon Stewart. Wonder Woman shows up and she would be able to at the *minimum* incapacitate him.

I don’t know man, these are characters that we’ve all seen perform feats that don’t really make sense with their characterization, I doubt as many people would be mad at something like the Flash or Batman fight if we hadn’t seen the flash blow through a suit of high tech armor or easily dodge bullets just a bit earlier, it’d be fine if it was I justice Flash and he isn’t quite so fast, but we’ve already seen that he could just beat them if he so wished, and should be immune to their one form of attack. Same goes for Batman, if we hadn’t already gotten four games of this Batman’s tactics he uses to beat those he fights, especially seeing as we already got a look at what would happen if this Batman turned evil in Arkham Knight, I don’t think people would be mad.

I think this game could’ve been much more well regarded if it did 2 things
1. Put it in its own universe (I haven’t play the Arkham games but I know that upset a lot of people what they did to some of the characters)
2. Makes this game a lot more crude and gorey. I loved what the 2021 suicide squad did so go off of that. The characters just a felt a tiny bit watered down than what you would expect.

This Game is a Mistake, who ask for a Server Shooting Game when you kill the Justice League and Retcon every single thing about the Arkhamverse? Nobody, we should have gotten a Superman, Batman Beyond, or a Justice League Game, King Shark is my Favorite by the Way and some of the Designs are Solid like the Justice League, plus hearing Kevin Conroy’s Voice as Batman is Music to my Ears so I still don’t understand why they Skipped Awesome Dialogue in the Contingency Plans? Injustice 2 is miles Better.
I feel like the style of this game just wasn’t really made for DC, I feel like if similar gameplay was made for a game about something else like The Boys and actually had a good story and writing, it would be a home run.

The game is a problem. Yes. The characters should play differently instead of just guns. But the bones are good. The character's are well done and if you pay attention, there is a lot of evidence that shows that isn't even the real JL they "kill".

My one complaint about how this video came out is that I cut alot of the descent into madness towards the end of the game and really primarily showed the parts I liked. But I completely agree, it starts out like "oh this isn't actually so bad!" then when you're doing the same exact mission 7 hours later it wears on you.

Genuinely baffled at how people seem to care so much about how Batman was treated, but they have nothing to say about how poorly the other heroes are utilized. Superman doesn’t even get any dialogue after his fight, it’s ridiculous
100% agree. But its entirely because of legacy. To the Arkhamverse, the JL are new entities. Haven't been built up over years and years of incredible games where you're playing as them. To a lot of people Arkham Batman is THEIR Batman, on top of it being Kevin Conroy's last time playing the character. I'm not even that mad that Harley was the one that did it, I just wish they at least gave him like a real heroic send off or something instead of an unceremonious headshot being used as bait for Superman. There's plenty reason fans aren't happy with it.
That said, every gets done dirty. I feel like Superman had like 3 lines the entire game, GL & Deadshot absolutely hate each other and its never explained why, I'd say the Flash is the only one that actually had some good dialogue since we got to see him before he turned.

It’s not my ideal premise, but I would have been fine with them killing off the League if they had done something more interesting with the idea.

I bought the game to honor Kevin Conroy and, Arleen Sorkin. I seriously tried to give the game a chance. It was made or I thought it was by the same people that made the Batman games. It suffered the same fate as the Halo TV show. I saw the very exact problems. They couldn't follow the lore right. It didn't make sense for everyone to fly up to the skull ship. They disrespected everyone. Green Lantern still haing his ring when he turned evil. King Shark putting it on after. No mention of the other superheros during the crisis. We can seriously spend all day picking this game apart. Then they try to spin the story around with some woke B.S. Saying if you hate the the game. You hate gay people and Kevin. No we hate the game due to how bad it is. Not following the lore of the universe. You cant just ignore the D.C comic story. Come in and do what you want. They didnt get the memo when the Halo Tv came out it seems. Kevin Conroy was Batman. He was awesome. Hes the reason why I got into comic books in the 90s. I was devastated when I heard the news. It made me depressed as ####. Same with Arleen Sorkin. My city Im in felt the same way. For a week straight. They pretty much said f the electric bill. The hotels in the area have spot lights. They turned them on for a week to honor Kevin. It was a cool experience to witness that. To kill Batman on a park bench like that. Whoever the writers were. Never touch a game story again. Honestly I think there are a couple of key changes that could be made that would “improve” the game in my eyes:
Change 1: Make the game not take place in the Arkhamverse so that we can have a new justice league that is maybe even not so perfect. Establish that the reason this league lost to Brainiac was not because they lacked the power, but rather because they lacked the conviction, the moral strength, and real grit it takes to be heroes.
Change 2: Have the Brainiac final boss be unique (not a flash clone), and have the game end with the death of Braniac from our universe ending the invasion here. If you want to keep the live service side of the game, have it be that each season is fighting other universe Brainiac’s with other universe squads.
Would the game be fixed? Well to me personally no. I think that the gameplay would need some more touchups before I could really fall in love with it. But would it be as god awful as everyone says it is now? Probably not (hopefully not).

I think this was really it for the Arkhamverse, as James Gunn wants everything to be DCU. I can't really see WB Montreal and Rocksteady being allowed to work on their own universes (particularly as Gotham Knights and Kill the Justice League just not being good games).

When I see this game, I get the same feeling as with those 90's comics where DC just decided to fuck their characters up. Killing off superman, bane breaking batman's back, wonder woman getting enslaved or something (I can't find the exact name of the comic) and probably some other hero getting their shit kicked in. And that feeling...im not sure how Im feeling about it...
I’m playing through the game myself rn in may free time, and as someone who knows jackshit about DC ( I only ever kept up with Batman stuff cause that’s the only hero/villains that really interested me ) im enjoying the game and from a outside perspective it’s fun, now I only watched up to where I have played in game , and let me tell you, the game is slowly falling off , I last killed Superman and well, that fight sucked, and rn after all that, learning about the fight all brainiacs from all dimensions , feels like filler cause the game was meant to be longer and they ran out of ideas , now I haven’t seen the ending, all I know is it’s bullshit , don’t spoil it , I want to be disappointed when I see it first hand. But that’s just a small rant from a non dc fan who’s friends wanted to play the game with her. So she has it , also games so much more fun in co-op cause you can be competitive with your friends and battle to see who gets most kills and so forth.
Also I like this Harley , not the design god no, I kept her in her straight jacket till I got her throw back outfit cause god the haircut and outfit they made for her for this game is terrible.
And small edit, no I haven’t played the Arkham games, but two days ago a friend bought them all for me. So I’ll be playing through them. Will my opinion change after, probably.

It’s reasons like this why I hate fortnights influence on this industry with live service, cosmetics, gun skins, but modern companies just use the live service as an excuse to be as lazy as possible all while maximizing the amount of money and time invested into the shitty product. I just want actual worth while content, not 100 tiers to grind through for shit that is practically useless to me. Especially gun blueprints. I’d rather have the seasons pass back for games instead and of the live service garbage that has to be in nearly every damn game. And don’t even get me started on the level of disrespect all these writers have showed all of our legacy characters over the years, like Jole from TLOU, Batman, Han Solo, indiana jones, James Bond,master chief, Luke skywalker, anakin skywalker, obi wan, the list of destroyed characters is almost never ending. And the most ironic thing about all of these people is they honestly are the ones who are bigots/ racists because they just destroy already established characters and race swap and as much as they may beg the differ changing already established characters is racist when they could just come up with there own stories and worlds for there races, but no. They’d rather put there grubby mits on all our beloved heroes and call all of us the monsters for refusing to participate in this lunacy, the game industry is a giant joke without a punchline. Unless the punchline is all of you getting robbed by people like this and never learning from it time and time again.
