I agree so much!! It's something I noticed, but with near to no musical expertise I couldn't really explain for myself. I watched the movie sleepy and at first confused, but I started to realize just how much the music drew me in and made me focus on what was happening. And I didn't mind about not hearing dialogues because I had subtitles anyway. The loudness of the music felt deliberate, and made my heart pump. I was like, amazed.

Honestly I never thought a score like that could fit so well with a movie about a love triangle and tennis. Definitely one of the best movies of the year

Good OST + cinematography = Last Of The Mohicans, brilliant.

Tbf I think Jaws already proved this back in 1975 (there's a great video somewhere that shows side-by-side comparisons of Jaws with and without the music, the difference is ridiculous). But good points nonetheless! Can't imagine watching this movie as the only two genres of cinema I hate with a passion are romance (with very few exceptions, eg Casablanca or some Woody Allen) and sports movies (with the exception of the first Rocky), like literally the only way they could have made a less appealing movie for me is if they turned it into a fucking musical to boot lol. But still, good to know it exists, I hadn't even heard of it. I haven't been keeping up with new releases at all this year, tbh with the exception of the new Yorgos Lanthimos movie, Deadpool & Wolverine and Megalopolis as well as a few horror entries like Nosferatu, MaXXXine and some A24 ones that look intriguing there's very little from mainstream Hollywood that looks interesting to watch this year, at least that I've come across. Jesus I miss 2019, I basically lived in the movie theatre that year! Joker, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (that one alone I went to see 9 separate times with different people), 1917, Parasite, Uncut Gems, JoJo Rabbit, The Lighthouse, Knives Out, The Irishman... last truly great year for cinema so far imo. Last couple of years have been slowly looking up again post-pandemic, but this year so far has been a pretty major disappointment, every new movie I can remember seeing that I've actually really enjoyed in 2024 (eg Perfect Days, Zone of Interest, Poor Things) has actually been from 2023 and just hadn't been taken out of theatres yet. Even Civil War which I was massively looking forward to ended up being kind of "meh". And to cap it all off they delayed the new Saw film (which I was super stoked for after Saw X rekindled my interest in the franchise) to 2025. Yeah, fuck 2024 so far...
