People say she flopped because she's dark skin when motivation came out in 2018 she had EVERYONE talking about her, from the music video to her vmas performance we all wanted to see her but after that we never saw her again then they compare her to ice spice and tyla when they are constantly putting themselves out there whereas normani doesn't she also isn't hungry for this, she wanted to do rnb when she should've done pop because it was working for her, she wants the beyonce level without doing the beyonce work

Agree plus some ppl maybe too young to remember but when beyonce started most her work was in the style of mainstream almost no experimental stuff just like what was in back then it was only when she became a global sensation that she began to do more provocative photoshoots couture magazines covers and albums that probably reflected her more as a person with themes that are important to her like her roots etc but she only did that when she knew she could not fail she was too big to fail and by then her message resonated with a lot of her fans because she has fans everywhere not just in America but Normani is just starting it takes a lot to reach that level

Normani is complacent. Shes holding herself back she lacks personality and drive. People love Cardi Bs music but it was her personality that made people wanna listen to her and see her succeed.

    • @bastetowl3258
      @bastetowl3258 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

i don’t think she’s complacent. i think it’s just the perfectionism and lack of self-confidence within herself. she’s still criticizing and nitpicking her own songs on the album after they’ve already come out. that’s not going to make people feel confident that she’s presenting the best version of herself to the world. she’s also probably really sensitive, so that’s why she stays away from social media. she could be a more indie level r&b artist with a smaller dedicated fanbase but with her personality i don’t see her becoming a major star

I dont think normani is insecure but she doesn’t have a good work ethic. She also has an inflated ego. Only Beyonce can go missing for years and drop music with no promo. She should have a tiktok, Instagram, and TH-cam channel and show a bubbly personality. She cant be closed off from her fans. Normani can't build hype being so private.

I feel like the biggest issue with Normani is that she’s never been just herself. The industry behind her has framed her as the “next” Beyoncé instead of allowing her to showcase herself and her unique talents. I feel like we’ve never been given the opportunity to really see what she is capable of. Her debut was rehashed 2000s check up on it. I feel like it’s unfair to an artist to pigeon hole them to be like another person instead of themselves and their art. The same thing happened to Leona Lewis being called the next Mariah. It's annoying how Normani's fans are acting as if dark skin is an incurable curse. Yes, it's not easy to be a Black woman in this industry but this is getting insulting.
Also, the Wild Side's MV cost over $1M. This is a crazy budget that no label would give to an artist for one single music video. Not even Beyonce spends that much on a video. The fact that her stans victimized her because she didn't get special treatment with an unlimited budget from her label is ridiculous.

the dumbest thing normani has done was collab with a headphone company and make a commercial of her listening to music but no album or singles were out to promote....lmaoo

some of the biggest songs in the past year have been by singers that have trusted themselves and gone through alternative routes or aren't the typical mainstream artists. a big hit from muni long who was primarily a successful songwriter (she even wrote fifth harmony's worth it! but did her and mani ever link for a reunion vid? 🤔), tinashe, charli xcx, chappell roan, sabrina carpenter, pinkpantheress, ice spice. women that have worked a decade in a niche audience or gone viral and still riding their wave, women that would've been kept as background singers in the 90s but have control to keep their records. even mani started unconventionally from a group formed off a tv show. there aren't any excuses. there's never been more ways to break through, the only hinderance is people's attention spans that's why to sell albums you need a SOLID fanbase and most of the most popular black artists are in the news because of drama. she doesn't want drama so she has to look beyond racial alliance and go back to her harmonizers core. the other artists listed have mainly teen, queer, or spanish fans. that's the difference

I feel like everybody’s making excuses for her. Normani’s just not that type of artist. As fans we want the absolute best for her & see her winning 🥇 but Normani has to want to invest as well. Point blank it’s her own downfall. We can’t blame the labels , her skin tone, the talent none. Normani doesn’t want too, period. It starts & ends with self. Let’s take accountability

Normani understands that she cannot sing without engineers.

She can get a better engineer, and get better beats. The beats are what makes the songs nowadays.

normani can actually sing tho...the vocal mixing done by the engineers is what drowns her voice out

When she cried about racism and stuffs, she already sold her fate as the victim and that's how the public will see her forever and this is plus with her lack of confidence. She started her career with an air of negativity and now negativity and racism talk overshadows her career.

Can’t nobody mess with Chloe on the mic including Beyonce and everybody Beyonce knows.
Beyonce signed Chloe because she knew she was special and need to put her on a shelf like she did, and instead of making Chloe a pop star she made her hood. So sad.

i think she really needs a collaborator/ mentor in the industry that she feels comfortable with and can bounce ideas off of. she also still doesn’t have music videos or visuals out for this era, even though apparently she’s filmed a music video already. maybe the label is holding her back from releasing it, and to be fair just because she signed a contract it doesn’t mean she knows for sure in the future what her label will approve
and not approve. apparently she has a brand deal, and she’s going to be starring in a movie soon but i haven’t seen any ads for the movie yet like i have for brandy’s new movie

Normani needs some motivation to promote herself. I do think certain -isms have rattled her confidence and she hasn’t really recovered since. It would be nice to see her do more on social media like Chloe or even Megan thee Stallion. Normani dropped her album, and has barely made any posts about it. Meanwhile Meg is promoting that one Japanese song by reposting TikTok’s and Reels. Normani hasn’t done anything like that. She says she wants to be on bigger stages, but honestly she should be thankful to be on *any* stage. Her biggest flaw is her lack of consistency.

She's talented dont get me wrong, but I just think she needs to stop trying so hard and just believe in herself for once. I dont care for the over sexual content that she likes to portray to her audience. It's too much and cringy for the least that makes her less sexy. However she does have the potential

She does have lack of confidence. Diana Ross was a superstar she was not light skin, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin , Evelyn King, just to name a few.
Could it be Normani music sucks!
