I've been a singer over 20 years and when you sing thousands of songs your voice will crack every now and again it comes with the territory thank you for doing your due diligence in making note of it you deserve a gold star!
A voice crack at the beggining of the performance, and a broken guitar string never stopped Chris just kept going along. What a true professional I'll forever love Coldplay they're epic!🔥✨

Chris was so nervous and even lost one guitar string. He clearly didn’t like his performance at the end but we are so lucky to be able to watch them grow.
If you ever had the pleasure and jog of attending a Coldplay concert, you'll appreciate this video even more. So much talent!! Great songs came later and here we are in December 2024 still loving Coldplay. ❤️
Yes! THIS! Everyone says his voice is going but listen to the performances of 2024. He has a proper vibrato now and he sings high tones in chest voice without cracks. He has improved. And during the Mylo Xyloto Tour his voice was absolutely great.
@@giovannitocco yeah i know I'm just commenting on how chris's voice got so much better over the years. He's clearly trained it to be at the point where it is now
At that time, to me , this song was meh. I always thought Trouble was the big hit and I liked that song more. But I do appreciate Yellow more over the years. Parachutes is a masterpiece.
The guitar playing is very teenage fanclub. I'd never noticed this before. It's funny listening to it all these years later, knowing how much the band changed.
@@austins.2495Where’s the punctuation at the end of your question? Millennials and Gen Z were raised with social media. They read much less, and write much less, than those before them. When they do write, autocorrect and other features may “fix” grammar and English usage, so they don’t learn anything. Sadly, written expression is a dying artform.
It’s crazy what weird things you remember. I probably haven’t seen this in at least 20 years, but I remembered he had that little voice crack right at the beginning 😄
Twenty years in the game bello and you reckon you'd be doing the same as when you have started. Get real. Look at U2 and REM and tell me they weren't still very good.
If you’d ever been to one of their stadium shows, you wouldn’t be saying that. They’re awesome. Not only that, but of course bands are going to change and evolve over time. In interviews Chris just says they sing whatever they want to sing at that time in their lives and whoever enjoys it, enjoys it. Sounds fair enough to me.
Look at this band now, they are way way up there, there audience participation just like Freddie did in 1985 of the live Aid gig, Coldplay are outstanding, believe me you know some of there tracks but they may take a break from music soon they were saying they all deserve a rest,
So, interesting, just last month I was learning to play this song in my accostic guitar. I stopped because my throat got sore by the singing 😅 by know i can play it. And, I love both Coldplay 2000-2005 and Conan's show/staff (Greetings to Jordan!)

I used to think Chris Martins voice was terrible because he is often 'flat' when he sings and out of tune BUT over time I have come to appreciate his talent. Singers are not always going to be at their best , and one thing is for sure, when he sings YOU KNOW it is Chris Martin. His voice is actually quite unique and he has great stage presence. Must also give praise to the whole band. It's not just Chris. Without his musicians the band would not be as successful as they have been over the years. 🩷
Voice cracks, nervous hands and broken guitar strings. Maybe in that moment they thought they've done so much blunder but look at these guys now, touching all the heights. Never judge yourself on the basis of your first few performances, just keep going and working hard, if you're dedicated and positive enough you'll make it even bigger than you can ever imagine.

Jonny's tone is soooo good. One of the best guitar sounds ever, love you Buckland.
just what was needed , genius player
His tone's pretty great. I had associated always him with telecasters, didn't know he played a jaguar at one point.
Tone is great. Mix was a little too loud.
Tone is brilliant, so is the riff. Simple and technical at the same time.
Yep was way too loud on the chorus

The nerves, the string, the voice cracking. This Is so cute and they look so little! What a great gem this video
I remember waiting over 25 minutes to watch 2 minutes of this clip when it was uploaded to TH-cam in 2006 (rough internet connection).

I feel ecstatic learning that Conan was Coldplay's first American television performance.
@@seamslatasha3598 Yellow was already a huge hit, they weren’t unknown they just hadn’t played on US tv yet
Conan & Coldplay! Two of my favourites!
After all this time and his voice is still as beautifull as it was back then!! I love it so much
the voice crack at the beginning though
Have never been a follower of the band but in recent interviews his praise of Harry Styles and his humbleness won me over for him.
Now look at them, best band in the world, and they all come across as really nice guys.
“Thank you very much, sorry about your string” 😂
Wow what a gem. They've blossomed so much
What an amazing difference in quality. This song and one of their new songs. It's sad, but also understandable.
Remember the days when Chris Martin would keep saying their latest record was gonna be their last? Oh those good ol days

Seemed like a genuine well done from Conan there. Think he knew how nervous they must have been
Conan could be a record producer. He has a knack for picking up on great bands before they hit it bigtime.
Here watching this a day after going to my first coldplay concert is such a mood❤
So many musicians had their tv debut on Conan, Conan really has a pulse on good music.

baby coldplay is just the sweetest most earnest thing
I remember exactly who I was in love with and where I was when I first heard this song
Such a gorgeous song
Ha, they look so young and nervous!
this electric guitar tone is absolutely filthy
and that off-key note in the first solo is somehow perfect.

Trouble was better yeah. Yellow isn't a song that I thought would land.
So young back in 2001 chris out of tune a little or horse throat. ❤
YES! This song actually irritated me so bad at the time, it was constantly played on the music channels, i’d always skip it. I love it now
