I had a chance to be a studio drummer years ago and past it up. I knew nothing about it. After seeing your videos, I regret it now. Love the music, y'all!
It was nice of the school to let you make a video of your daughter. I'm a teacher in the UK and parents are no longer allow to take photos / make videos of (other) children at my school. Sad reflection of the times we live in. It was nice to see Nashville again; I was there for a few days in 2003. Great video!
I have driven to church for either rehearsals or for Sunday service where I'm expected to play my guitar without said guitar more than once. So you're not alone, Joe! :D
I think this way of doing Gildercam actually improves it. This was a great episode. Oh, and I know of a guitarist who on more than one occasion has gone to a gig without his guitar, you are not alone. Loved the cut to the live version of someone to blame, nicely done. Good luck with that move!
Really enjoyed this episode. I am assuming, because either I missed it, or haven't been around long enough to know, these sessions are another business venture if yours.
I remember seeing that space a while back in a periscope stream where you were recording Hammond Organ! Also the worst I have ever forgotten was going to play an acoustic set at a wine bar for 3 hours and I forgot the music. I don't know about anyone else but I don't have 3 hours of music memorized...
Very cool to see what you and your friends are doing in these sessions... Musicians, either as individuals or collaboratively, coming together to create music, while also impacting the broader music industry both locally and eventually nationally... Hi!, Ever heard of Aaron Till and Richard Smit/Annie Sellick/Dave Pomeroy?? Hotclub de Nashville, from your place I guess..... I had a great time with them, very warm people, in Enschede, The Netherlands, 2007, as a sessiondrummer on a weekendfestival, great memories....:) Thanks for this great content, studiostuff is Always great, except forgetting stuff ofcourse..;) Cheers from The Netherlands!!!
Yeah man, it was fun... You don,t know Dave Pomeroy and also Pat Bergeson, they played with the big cats in the USA (Vinnie Colaiuta for example and on many many albums...) Annie is such a versatile singer...Feel free to check them out and say hi from me, from The Netherlands...Good luck with your channel, its a very positive vibe one..
I love these tracking session videos!! I really like that song "Someone To Blame" and that transition to the live performance was dope. It's funny that you mention figuring out all the cost because that's exactly what I've been wondering. When you figure it all out, would you be willing to tell us more or less what it breaks down to? What do you pay the players? What does it total out to? If you're willing. And it doesn't have to be exact figures either, just "round abouts". Thanks Joe, keep these videos coming!
Hey Joe, I know this is an older video but I came across it when I was looking up a good rate for tracking bands and sessions. My question to you is, what is a good rate for a tracking session and or recording a demo for someone? What did you guys come up with as far as an hourly rate? Thanks in advance even you can’t answer the question, I thank you for the response and all off you knowledge. I’m learning a lot.
Great stuff, love it. I'm wondering how much you guys are charging and consider affordable. How much are you getting out of it and what is the business strategy behind it? Asking as a fellow music entrepreneur.
For the quality you get, its worth it. $400 per song I think. Listen to my album at mikeandthesuspects.com. And if you have any budget left, I can get you the guy that won a Grammy for Daft Punk to mix it.
Oh man, the transition from the studio version to the live one gave me chills.
:)
Yeah, man. Easily my favorite part of way the video was edited. That was super cool.
Yea that was a little trippy. This was an enjoyable video to watch.

Your best video. So well documented, especially as this would have been a busy day!
One of your coolest videos. Ty
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing Joe.
Thanks Joel!
I enjoy these episodes
I'm so glad. Thanks Jarell. I was worried it was too long.
Bro! I have to say...your videos are so entertaining, inspiring and creative. Thank you!
I don't feel so bad seeing I'm not the only one who leave instruments that are going to be used forgotten! Thank you Joe!
The struggle is REAL

We’ve all been there Joe....once went all the way to a gig without my 2nd keyboard stand. Interesting way of playing two keyboards that night!
I have driven to church for either rehearsals or for Sunday service where I'm expected to play my guitar without said guitar more than once. So you're not alone, Joe! :D
How is this possible!?!?! It's mind-blowing. haha

Thanks! Typical studio rate for session players is $75/hour. Then studio and prep time on top of that.

that fiddle, man
0:03 Can you do a video on how properly to mic up a Home Depot box?

Sorry fo the late reply. We've raised the price since Mike Fortier's project, but it's still super reasonable.
That's reasonable! And then the artists gets just the raw tracks?
missed GC so much
And GC missed you. ;)
Whats your process for getting new clients for recording and mixing?
Great Song friend and what a wonderful look behind the scenes, but you should keep your hands off coke ;-)
:)
Wait didn’t you just setup that studio??
2 years ago yeah.
I see you like (too) much delay on vocal in your songs.. Personal taste though.
Luuuuuuuuv delay
Hahaha.. 😁😁
