Warren Buffett on ChatGPT and A.I.: It's 'extraordinary' but don't know if it's 'beneficial'

- Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett said he has no expertise in artificial intelligence whatsoever, and thinks the technology is "extraordinary," but doesn't know if it's "beneficial." More here: • Warren Buffett on Chat...
You know your epic when you can say: "Einstein told me"
Not sure it's for real, maybe he read it
Its definitely a serious flex 😂😂
You know he doesn't mean that literally right?
He definitely was not in Einstein’s circles, nor did he actually ever speak to Einstein.
By the time Einstein died in 1955, Warren Buffett was 24 years old and a nobody.
Buffett is a capitalist who got lucky and got rich as an old man, and if he didn’t exist, the world would be exactly the same (perhaps McDonalds and Coca-Cola stock would be worth 5% less).
Einstein was a intellectual and scientific prodigy from childhood. Einstein was an anti-capitalist, and a socialist. He literally changed the world with his scientific innovations, in particular his work on theories of light, relativity, atoms.
Einstein wouldn’t have had any interest in ever speaking to Buffett, not even for an investment even if he were alive today, as Buffett has zero technological/scientific knowledge (and has repeatedly stated his lack of interest in developing this knowledge). However, I’m sure Einstein would have been fascinated with Elon Musk, for example.
@@jr23640 Can't be sure, unless you have personal knowledge from Buffet and/or Einstein.
For example, Buffet's father was a 4-term US Representative from 1943-49 & 1951-53. Einstein interacted with high-ranking US leaders during that time (atomic bomb development). Einstein died in 1955. He had been a US citizen since 1940.
Einstein lectured frequently at Columbia University. Warren Buffet attended Columbia University from 1949-1951 for graduate school and was the protege of one of their most famous professors, Benjamin Graham, who was Jewish.
Einstein was Jewish.
Einstein interacted with a ton of different people.
The Buffets seem to have interacted with a lot of famous & wealthy Jewish folks over the years.
“Einstein told me”
This guy is the bomb.
Da atomic bomb 🙌 KABLUEEEY ☠️
"we figured out how to create an atom bomb" 🤯 WTF
Amazing
Einstein told me
...
That's a greater flex than greatest flex
Yes
*Thank you. So it's not near anything that has to do with flexing. Warren Buffett is not a flexer. He's a shower and a pleaser, but not a flexer. Flexing is a way of trying to force people to feel jealousy. It's annoying.*
I’m 90% he was only 15 in 1945… pretty sure the earliest they could’ve met would’ve been 1950, 5 years before Einstein’s death. He meant “told me” as in us, as in society I’m pretty sure as that’s a direct quote from Einstein.
@@earlaweese💯💯
90 years old and still able to talk at that speed and comprehension. You can tell this guy actually worked and always sharpened his brain
Excellent👏👏👏
Yeah lot of it is based off genetics. If you have a family history of dementia/memory retention issues most likely you get it it. I've met a really old man too similar age almost and he's very sharp even tho he's a average working class Joe not rich or poor. Just average. But then I've met some at age 60-70 that has lost their mind.
Thats why he still does annual evaluations and stuff
@@supercookiecookie8092its also greatly influenced by the lifestyle they lived, bad eating and sleep and lack of exercise and not using your brain critically much will make you more susceptible to dementia later on, it’s even recommended that older people do Brain/memory exercises to keep the brain active healthy. In this case Buffet running a business helps his brain
He actually has a genius IQ. No wonder he is so successful

In the full video, the guy Buffett is referring to is Eric Schmidt, former Google CEO, who has also talked about having guidelines in place for AI. He is not talking about Elon (although he’s probably also listened to Elon)
Thanks for the clarification
Yeah Eric Schmidt is a C tier celebrity billionaire while Elon is an S tier billionaire so don’t feel bad if you can’t remember his name, Warren.
Elon and Tucker had an interview and Elon stated that he warned Google's CEO of his reservations and was ignored. Schmitt is long gone, he's at the WEF now.
No. He is talking about Musk. Eric anticipates and ai god that leads us.
I agree, Warren surely remembers Elon, the guy who insulted him for not producing anything useful to humanity. He was so tact responding about it but not his partner Charlie Munger.
i don't wanna change the world too many times without having some idea of the consequences of it." very well put.
Warren Buffett has said “The stock market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient”. He didn't say from stupid to intelligent. So, no matter artificial or natural, intelligence doesn't play the greatest role.
The thing is, AI is a game changer. The rule holds true when everyone plays by the rules; but what about when some don’t. Imagine AI becoming the hedge funds that manipulate the market.
You can believe this but its naive. His game is working like you say.
But just a fact here. The Reduction in the ping of the connection between the Wallstreet and the biggest brokers. Brings them a lot of money. Not because they save it. Because the computers can buy in signals of the market faster. It's a money printing machine if you know the algorithm.
AI will find more ways to capitalize on this.
I don’t know, if this was just blatant overcompensation, straight up mental diarrhea or a logical connection that is beyond my verbal IQ, but trying to follow your logic almost broke my brain.
This guy is full of wisdom
I agree. He may not be extraordinarily intelligent, but he uses wisdom to all his knowledge and that’s how he gets intelligent answers.
Yeah, he just calmly said “Einstein told me this is going to change the world and it changed the world.”
How many living people in the world can even say something like that?
Imagine somebody saying “Jesus told me to expect…” and it was really true.
Wow, you have no ability to think critically if you think he actually spoke to Einstein personally.

There are two sides to a coin. Stephen Hawking: Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change. Scott Fitzgerald famously wrote: “The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function. One should, for example, be able to see that things are hopeless yet be determined to make them otherwise.”
Might have Aristotle who originally posited a similar sentiment, but good point.
I just defined the difference between smart and intelligent for my latest book yesterday. Intelligent is the ability to learn and understand information. Smart is the ability to apply knowledge.

Every technology that is used for good has its commensurate evil.
Key word: consequences. We are going to experience UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES if AI is unleashed without strong morals, values and ethics.
We’ve got the potential to destroy or enlighten humanity here. The people in power of this? I hope they are not from the “dark side”.
Well , I'm sorry but if AI exists , then for sure that will be evil AIs. It's inevitable, and that is a fact
There are bad persons in the world , so is a for sure thing that we will deal with bad agents now and in the future (like any moment of humankind)
Hope is not a course of action. Humanity, all of us, better start insisting on ethics as the first principle of all we do or else we will wipe humanity off the face of their earth.
Haha, right now there is no morals in society to even speak of.
It’s not necessarily about the morals of AI, but rather the morals of those who possess the ability to manipulate it
Do you think the leaders of the world today have strong morals, values and ethics? I'd rather let ChatGPT have a go at running the world, I bet he would at least try to be fair.
Everyone will have an AI assistant. Like Siri but vastly more intelligent and capable. Meanwhile AI will take over all customer service jobs. So when your AI calls to order you a pizza it will be talking to another AI. Then it will be delivered by an autonomous vehicle.

@@collinskwesi I hope you’re right🙏 and I hope that the AI alignment will be successful. In that case, I can see a fruitful future, as you mentioned, that extends far beyond this AI phase of humanity 😌
That’s the problem for humans. There is no reason or purpose as we get smarter and realize this.
@@terrymckenzie8786 we can always create new purposes as we grow but the main factor here is that AI will do everything so well that the purpose for doing things will not be the same. It’s like playing a video game on god mode. There’s no struggle, no suffering, you just ace the game without a problem. And that gets boring pretty darn fast 😕
I hope that AI will be a tool that we can Harness. But even then, if it gets it’s own goals (whether it’s conscious or not) it can easily look at us as a barrier.
I think that AI should be developed in space, that way it doesn’t have any incentive to destroy the human species it could just leave into a different solar system (if it came to this)
it already happened when they invented the atom bomb, it’s too late to be scared

The issue of AI depends on the social hierarchy in which you move and also on the hypocrisy and social narcissism that is suffered: Certainly as long as AI does not replace the exclusive minority "political class and CEOs and managers" it cannot be officially seen or considered a real threat that jeopardizes the stability of the market, democracy, society or all of humanity
