Zsolt and I are planning to do a livestream on Excalidraw. What should we talk about? Any questions you want us to focus on? Leave them here so we know what you want to hear about! PLUGINS: Obsidian Excalidraw, ExcaliBrain, Hover Editor THEME: (Patreon) AnuPpuccin, (personal) Vanilla AMOLED
After watching this videos yesterday, I began playing around with this & found that the copy link command (for group, area, & frame) doesn't work well when you go the .svg route. Am I doing something wrong or is that not an option right now? Thank you both for the great content!
I decided to read closely & noticed that in the command itself it says "markdown" so I'm guessing I'm actually not doing anything wrong. The question is then, is there an option to do what I'm trying to do at all?
- How to get the best from AI to diagram option, I'm converting many notes into diagrams, such a cool way of watching my ideas displayed in a fast and customizable way! - A review on the best plugins or scripts for Excalidraw, there are so many! - How to classify each.svg or excalidraw file with metadata.
Your videos have made my journey into Obsidian much easier and a lot more fun, and I keep coming back for new tips and ideas. Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing your knowledge with us.
Thank you. Loving your coverage of Excalidraw and Excalibrain AND your collaboration with my man, Zsolt. You compliment each other very well. Layers of understanding and different angles of explanation...Zsolt and you have covered most of this before, but this video might be the tastiest yet.
This is crazy powerful. Recently I started a vault for art study and my workflow involved taking a bunch of snippets from tutorials and other art videos in general and pasting them into obsidian. In terms of speed, a simple approach like that is still best for some of the things that I'm doing. However, the idea that I can dynamically reference to some region of an image is very interesting. Watching you move your RPG characters around, or tracking that fear/action counter gave me lots of ideas. Even for my non art vaults, I feel like if I have a really big graph and I want to focus on one thing or another, this is very convenient
I just found your channel and it’s so amazing to find places that fit your niches perfectly 🥰 I’m setting up two different vaults right now, one for the multiple TTRPG games I’m running and the other for my life notes. Thank you so much for your clear and concise videos.
So awesome. 🙏 I switch from MS Windows to Linux and used MS Onenote a lot and was searching for a Linux alternative and found your videos on Obsidian. You even cover such topics like on this video, a feature I was looking for a long time. Now I just have to train to think in Obsidian.😂 Thank you for your good explanations. 🙏
video came up at the perfect time. I have recently started using excalidraw after knowing about it for a long time & I was wondering about the futureproof aspect of it all. good to get rid of that anxiety!
@@nicolevdh Definitely! I'm only facing one issue when using .svg, but since you mentioned you'll be doing a stream w. Zsolt I left the question over at your pinned comment. Just wanted to mention for a sec that throughout the years I have learnt a lot about Obsidian thanks to you, so thank you!
Wow! Very cool and useful video for me! Thank you and Zlot for this. I saw very big potential with these plugins, but I can't to combine it for real work. I think I can use it after your video. If you use ExcalliBrain, tell about your workflow more. Especially in combination between markdown-excallidraw-excallibrain. I have pop-up excallibrain window on different monitor, but it worked for text notes only. Now I see how I'll use it with visual notes. Excallidraw logic and architecture may be difficult for understanding. Zlot's videos more technical, your - practical. I happy about your collaboration with him. 🎉
Yay! Yes, Excalidraw and ExcaliBrain are really feature rich, but that means that they can be difficult to use if you don't know them all. I feel like I'm constantly learning new use cases for them. Thanks for the comment on ExcaliBrain... I'll definitely earmark that for future videos!
Lol. I had been avoiding Excalidraw because i wanted my notes to be portable and independent. I didn't realize it exported as SVG! Hahaha Okay maybe ill give it a try
Thank you! I so loved your explanation and the whole idea of flipping the card in general. The only thing that confuses me is that there is a lot of code at the end of the note. Even when I make a very simple scheme of a couple of arrows and other shapes, the note gets 20-30 thousand characters more. Yes, you can hide them with "%%", but still you can see by side scrolling how big the note has become. Because of this, even small notes, which should be literally 300-500 characters, grow up to ten's of thousand characters due to Excalidraw's schema markup. Perhaps someday it will be possible to reduce this amount of markup code. I would very much like to incorporate this approach into my work, but I can't put up with so much code at the end of notes, even in small notes....
I agree with you! Furthermore, by enabling SVG export, another file .svg with the same name is created in the note folder. This creates too much confusion in the folder.

This really is a game changer! I have been using Obsidian Excalidraw awhile but learned a lot from this video, thanks!
Great to hear that!! I really love the image block reference idea too. So many cool ways to use it!

Oh, I'm glad I addressed that, then! I was worried about it too, but using images should definitely make it more future proof.
