Ovulation is a phase in the menstrual cycle when your ovary releases an egg (ovum) .once an egg leaves your ovary , it travels down your fallopian tube where it waits to be fertilized by sperm while menstruation is the monthly discharge of blood and mucosal tissue the inner lining of the uterus through the vagina. The menstrual cycle is characterized by the rise and fall of hormones. Menstruation is triggered by falling progesterone levels and is a sign that pregnancy has not occurred
