Am a bit confused with Defender for Cloud. In Defender for Endpoint there is already a secure score with recommendation for example say Turn on MFA and alerts about that. Would I then find some recommendations and alerts double in both areas ? And with the same values ? Thanks
You are quite right they fully integrate with each other however defender for endpoint plan two allows for auto remediations. This is worth its weight in gold.
Hi Andy, I've just started learning cloud security and I have a great confusion about Microsoft defender for Cloud and Microsoft 365 Defender. Are they the same thing or does one contain the other? If they are different..how so? A helpful answer will be much appreciated. Thank you.
No worries. Defender for Cloud is typically for Azure resources. Storage, SQL, Virtual Machines, stuff like that. Accessed via the Azure Portal. Defender for 365 initially designed for Microsoft 365, but now includes many other elements, include Defender for CloudApps, Defender for EndPoint, Defender for Identity as well as all the usual stuff like Anti Virus, Safe Attachments and Safe Links but to name just a few. Visibility depends on licence.
This is easy. Defender is the name of Microsoft security products. Defender for cloud is the renames Azure Security centre (portal)a Defender for CloudApps is the renamed Microsoft CloudApp security portal. This has now been integrated into a Microsoft Defender for 365. This toll provides a risk assessment of the various apps in your company. For more check out docs.microsoft.com for more details. Good luck😊
There are a few things that is overlapping with Defender for business, is it worth it to have both services? it is not easy to explain to a costumer that they need another defender, when I explain this they think that they already have defender, but then you have to explain, yes but there is one for endpoints, one for identity and one for cloud.
Dear Mr. Malone: I'm still fussing w/ O.L. on this Surface 7 Pro + w/o enough storage. Any thoughts beyond just buying Surface version 8? Respectfully, NGH
Hi Andy, thanks for the informative video. I have a few questions. Do the reported vulnerabilities in Microsoft Defender for Cloud come from Qualys? Also, in Microsoft 365 Defender, there is a Vulnerability Management feature that identifies and prioritizes vulnerabilities. Are these recommendations the same in Microsoft Defender for Cloud? Finally, is Qualys also integrated into Microsoft 365 Defender? Thanks.
I’m sorry those are questions for the product group. I recommend reaching out to them via the Microsoft tech community or directly through the Microsoft defender for endpoint blog. That would be the quickest way to get a response. I’m sorry I couldn’t answer your question but thanks again. Andy
@@Rahgozar633 yeah I’m sorry but those questions are specifically targeted towards product team. Anyway I’m delighted to have you on board and enjoying my channel? Thanks again.
@@AndyMaloneMVP Hi Andy, no problem. I really love your channel and find it informative. I watch a lot of your videos, but I'm sometimes a bit lazy to leave a comment :-))
Thanks Andy, another great video. Would be interested to learn more about Azure Logic Apps if you get chance? I'm relatively competent with Power Automate but know very little about Logic Apps. Cheers!
Hii nice share Texting you this after not receiving any reply from Microsoft tech community. I have this Azure recommendation "SQL databases should have vulnerability findings resolved" where I had one of the SQL Server in healthy resource but the databases inside are in not applicable databases i want to set it in healthy databases - what would be a solution for this and please note we are using the express configuration. Thankyou..!!
@AndyMaloneMVP I love your personable videos. Thank you for the fantastic content and contribution the the Microsoft industry.
Thanks so much I appreciate that😊

This is off topic but I need to enroll a device that has no particular user to intune. How can I do that?

Hi Andy, quite deserved my suscribe and like button clicks! Thanks indeed!
Great and welcome 👍😊
How does one make Azure, Auto apply recommendations?
eg: Security score, can we select a few or all and click apply ???
You can use as your logic/power automate to automate responses.

great learning video - is this MS Defender versionen aimed for Azure VMs, can it also be installed on VMs in AWS?
Yes to both questions 😊

Defender for cloud is for more Azure based infrastructure based organisations.
is it the same as CASB?
No Defender for CloudApps would be a CASB😊

Nothing about how to enable "Defender for cloud " for virtual machine . The main question, but there is no answer to it ...
Just have the license and you’re good to go
