Yes! And it goes directly into their inventory so you can drag it into the fridge. Also you can put the whole cake on the fridge or even on the floor it doesn’t have to be on a counter
The kid being the cake taster reminds me of when I was 12-ish, my best friend and I made a cake and there was WAY too much frosting so we ate the extra frosting. We were so sick afterward! 🤢 lol

And yeah, I ate so much of the stuff as a youngster (at about 9 or 10yrs old), that it made me exorcist sick! I noticed if you put the incense holder nearby and light it for the inspired moodlet it gives a huge boost to the quality of what they make. Also give the home the lot trait of homey
Hi everyone, I did a similar experiment to what WhinyBrit did, but I used a few in-game benefits that helped make this much more profitable (net income of about 3k/day). I’ll review what I did and how much I made. My sim is level 10 gourmet cooking and has the Marketable reward trait (costs 1,500 points). I had her work from 9 am until 4 pm. I purchased the ingredients for the lactose free cake batter (flour, sugar, plant milk). Each serving of batter cost $7.60. It took about 30 minutes to make 5 servings of batter. Each wedding cake requires 2 servings of batter and takes about 35 minutes to cook. From 9-11 am she prepared batter and made two cakes. She made the Pillow Wedding Cake each day in various colors. The normal cost of this cake is $225 but with the batter the cost is reduced to $175, making the total cost to make the cake $190.20. From 11 am until 4 pm, she ran a food stand sale. At the food stand with a 200% mark up, each slice of Pillow Cake sells for $198, making the total selling price $2,376. If you are able to sell both cakes, you can make a max gross income of $4,752. Minus the cost of making the cakes, that’s a profit of $4,371.60 each day. The business career at level ten makes about $3,000 per day, so we’re exceeding that, assuming we can sell all of the cake slices. However, I was only able to sell all of the slices on one day. The other four days I made actual sales of $3,762, $2,970, $2,178, and $3,564. For the week I made gross of $17,226 and net of $15,324. Overall, that’s just about what she would make in the business career level 10 for the week. Two caveats: One. If you try to sell the cakes to the bakery first and then put the extra four slices on the table, it will be very difficult to predict the income. The bakery selling price appears to be random. I made 2 of each color of Pillow Cake and each of them were different prices despite all being excellent quality. White: $917 and $1,728 Red: $952 and $1,490 Pink: $1,831 and $1,363 Brown: $956 and $846 Blue: $1,419 and $1,041 Each of the extra slices all sold for $198. With these prices, you could potentially make a gross income of anywhere from $1,709 to $2,623. This may or may not be more profitable than just using the food stand. Two. I kept “business hours” like in the video; however, I found that running the food stand at night was VASTLY more profitable. I ran the food stand for five nights and I made sales of: $10,908 $3,366 $19,476 $17,694 $19,656 There seemed to be more sims at night and they were much more likely to purchase whole cakes. If you can, I might suggest running your wedding cake business from 4-11pm instead. One last note: if you complete the Appliance Wiz aspiration, your sim will often make two wedding cakes at once, cutting the cost in half and allowing you to sell far more cakes. Ok, so I experimented in game. I forgot home chef hustle sells things by the slices instead of whole cakes, so that was a little disappointing. However, you can put the cake on the stand and sell the whole 12 slices. Most interestingly, with 0% markup, it was still more money to sell it this way than just selling from your kitchen. The prices surprisingly were not static, either. 0% markup on the cupcake cake got me anywhere from $13 to $19. At $13, a whole cake would sell for $156 compared to $125 from the kitchen. At $19, that’s $228. If you decide to markup, then it would be even MORE money and so worth it compared to just instantly selling it. I also tried it with a normal quality cake as that was another problem in your game. It sold for $34 per slice for a total of $408, which is a whole lot more than the $0 normal quality glitch, lol. Hope someone found my findings helpful!
Can you sell cakes at yard sales with the table with all servings ? Or if she had a lot instead of an apartment she could have her own shop and live upstairs. . Or if she got the camera drone she could make baking videos and have that as extra income.

Just thought of this idea: As a work around for the cake serving glitch I would do an event or create a club with 8 people and call to meal on each cake you bake. Then when they each grab their slice you can sell it. You could pretend you're at a bakery and they are buying the slices.
Baking is super good if you use the yard sale feature, get your entrepenuer skill up and mark up the prices. I have a sim that 'runs a bakery out of her home' that way and i make like 1-3k a yard sale, which isnt bad!
Yeah I think the cakes have to be excellent quality or better to sell. Having expensive counters and appliances help as well as the chef's kitchen and other cooking related lot traits. If you surge her emotions while mindful to inspired (or take a thoughtful shower) it should give you an additional boost. I wonder if you could sell the full 12 slice cake or the spare 4 slices on the market/yard sale table or the new home chef hustle table at a higher mark up? I have to say that you can sell any food or drink on a selling table, basegame. I did a speed run game where I had a sim cook pretty much everything in the game and sell it on the table. Once you are level 10 and doing the higher level foods and drinks you can make good money.
As a former pastry chef, the sentiment of quick and easy meals at home is so close to home. Lol during the years I cooked professionally I slowly started dreading cooking outside of work 🤣
Instead of take a piece you should let the sim pick up a serving. Then they take them and put them in the inventory right away :) Oh and selling cakes on the sales table is better.
Me too, as far as not using all the game packs/whatever. I've ended up buying most of them and have only visited a lot of them once, or not at all even. I like finding videos of other players using the packs, then I get inspired to do something with them too. I've had the wedding pack for ages and not yet used it, other than stuffing Sims into the lots so they aren't wandering around homeless. Why I care is a mystery to me but it does bug me. It seems the more homeless Sims I put into the lots the more the game creates of homeless Sims wandering around. It's just never going to end well that way. :) That's when I think about leaving the save file to start fresh. I haven't yet, but I think I'm keeping those old save files to cause mass destruction like the apocalypse mod, or another I found for starting the bubonic (sp) plague. That could clear up a lot of mostly forgotten, homeless Sims.
Not crazy, the game will. I think it actually needs a pool of 'homeless' ('not in world') Sims for things. I too had a dream of housing all the Sims but I found things are better when I let a 'not in world' population exist. I know there are ways to stop the game generating new Sims with mods but I found it easy to accidentally nuke your population with mods and hard to manage when I just wanna play with my families and not manage the entire population. So now I just let it be.
I opened up a bridal shop in my latest addition to my main save with an heir and his newlywed husband. It was really fun! Though I did have the husband start making bouquets with the flower arranging table, they just don’t sell? Poor guy. So he began selling normal arrangements instead. Wedding attire, flower arrangements for decor, bouquets if anyone will buy one, and wedding cakes. I already have a jewelry shop otherwise they’d also sell wedding rings

I use the Live In Business mod & you can just set the items for sale and Sims come and serve themselves. I have a little house with a hut on the corner of the plot & that's where my little store is. I'm also making a killing selling random photos, at 200% mark-up!! 😂
When I have Sims doing cooking/baking careers with so MUCH extra food around I put it in the Sims inventory and leave it at other lots. I think, if you can use, Call to eat, you get some extra experience too. Not sure though. At least it does prevent the food you make from rotting in your own fridge.
It would be interesting to see how much you make selling them on the selling table and then with the money aim to open a bakery and see how much you can make then 😊
I am doing joy of life legacy challenge. I am on the first generation that does baking. I bake a lot and have a yard-sale everyday. Cakes actually make good money. Better than bakery.
This is among the reasons why I want to buy my wedding stories, but I'm not willing to pay for that amount of broken features. Also, regarding the slices of cake and the two that you couldn't sell, I think a sales table would be quite useful. Maximizing profit lol

Home chef hustle would have sold servings, might have been able to sell whole cakes on the regular selling table tho if the goal is to sell them whole.
no one ever says this but flower arranging is BROKEN AF. consistently getting 4-7k simoleons per pink orchid arrangement (costs 800 to make). guaranteed profit when your arranging skill is level 5. i feel like no one knows this or explored it enough, it’s the only method i use for quick cash because it’s SO quick and easy

Can you see how much you make running a farm? Use the treats though or you wont make enough. I see people try it but they don’t interact witht he animals to raise the cost of their items or use treats so people think you cant make money from farming.
Idk, I think it's very real life, actually better than real life. You're not always going to be able to sell your baked goods, you're not going to be able to sell them if they are not good. And having to bake and decorate sometimes takes days so selling one cake is not going to put millions in your bank. Besides taking the four pieces 🤣

In my experience, you can get easily about 1k per cake with a maximum markup, however you do have to wait patiently for sims to select their purchase
My Wedding Stories was just a let down. The Sims team could’ve done so much more with that pack.

With the Wedding Cake extra pieces I dropped them into the NANO bin and earned 70 simoleans per slice ie 280 simoleans for 4 pieces of cake 😂

I use the sales table and mark up to 300%. You make quite a bit and you do not have to remove pieces.
I use the Live In Business mod & you can just set the items for sale and Sims come and serve themselves. I have a little house with a hut on the corner of the plot & that's where my little store is. I'm also making a killing selling random photos, at 200% mark-up!! 😂
When I have Sims doing cooking/baking careers with so MUCH extra food around I put it in the Sims inventory and leave it at other lots. I think, if you can use, Call to eat, you get some extra experience too. Not sure though. At least it does prevent the food you make from rotting in your own fridge.
Why didn't you use a selling table to sell the cakes? Wouldn't that be easier? 😅🙈

I am doing joy of life legacy challenge. I am on the first generation that does baking. I bake a lot and have a yard-sale everyday. Cakes actually make good money. Better than bakery.
I bet you could sell the individual pieces you had to pull out on the food sale table for a nice profit!
Might have been able to sell the whole cake on a regular selling table maybe....Sims might have bought it whole.

Also, regarding the slices of cake and the two that you couldn't sell, I think a sales table would be quite useful. Maximizing profit lol

U could use the retail system to sell them in a cake shop
If you run a retail store, I think you can sell cakes without having to get exactly 8 servings.

Home chef hustle would have sold servings, might have been able to sell whole cakes on the regular selling table tho if the goal is to sell them whole.

no one ever says this but flower arranging is BROKEN AF. consistently getting 4-7k simoleons per pink orchid arrangement (costs 800 to make). guaranteed profit when your arranging skill is level 5. i feel like no one knows this or explored it enough, it’s the only method i use for quick cash because it’s SO quick and easy

The amount of time it took you to take 4 pieces of cake and have your sim put them down, you could’ve made a whole other cake. They need to fix this game!

Can you see how much you make running a farm? Use the treats though or you wont make enough. I see people try it but they don’t interact witht he animals to raise the cost of their items or use treats so people think you cant make money from farming.

Idk, I think it's very real life, actually better than real life. You're not always going to be able to sell your baked goods, you're not going to be able to sell them if they are not good. And having to bake and decorate sometimes takes days so selling one cake is not going to put millions in your bank. Besides taking the four pieces 🤣
Does this used the wedding story pack? I don't have it currently due to limited ability of my laptop 😢
