Beautiful flight and aircraft. Looks like an advanced RC glider upscaled for human flight. The Bubble Dancer with a shorter tail boom and human pilot. I love the carbon fiber on the control arm.
@sherwoodski Thank you. The spars, the ribs and the Keel are also all carbon fiber. It has flaps spoilerons and the tail moves in conjunction with the flaps. They even have an option for Speed brakes. Incredible it all packs down into two separate bags and can be transported on any vehicle with padded racks on top
Great ! More than fourty years ago a fellow student offered a rogallo kite to me for cheap money. As a glider pilot I tried it and found the glide slope unacceptable. When I now see the mordern hang gliders I wished I were young again to try them. They are looking more like airplanes, don´t they ?
Ahhh yes. They have come a very long way! This glider has spoilerons, flaps, and the tail moves with the flaps to adust your speed. 20-21/1 GR, around 140fpm sink rate. A lot of performance in something that folds up to go on a car top. 😎
Thank you. The nose latch is the same quick latch they have been using, It is just shorter in length = less sweep. Have you seen the quick setup latch before?
@pauloalmeida4492 yes, the atos can fly much slower than a sailplane. Depending on your wing loading, for me it's around 18 -19 mph stall speed. The Atos flies very similar to a Flex Wing hang glider. Except it is much easier as it has control surfaces, flaps and a tail that moves with the flaps. See the setup breakdown video. It separates into two halves and is transported on top of any vehicle. Assembly is roughly 20 to 30 minutes depending on how fast you are
Hi Andy! Glad to hear from you. Still flying? Haven't seen anything in awhile. Handling was very close to the VQ. (I didn't wang it around or try fast roll reversal though) The VQ should be faster still as it is less mass out there. This VR has the 198 nose latch. To help align the the new winglet angle for better performance at higher speeds. Might be only one of 2 in the states (its red striped sister is at NLR (Seb the new importer), they have been using it on them since 2020. My hang position is about 2 cm forward from the VQ. A bit more of a challenge to get the DT''s. Pitch felt a little lighter when thermalling, maybe do to less sweep.... The winglets are much lighter than the 06 I had. Sink rate seemed a bit better, It is slightly more aera, so that would make sense. Glide, it was a touch better (I think). I didn't get a lot of glides in, and only got up to 50 mph. Stall speed was very close, maybe a touch slower. It did rotate the nose up easier, again maybe the less sweep. Very happy to have winglets again. The feel with them, a little more locked in. Really happy with the way it flies. Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers

What an elegant sail, I love it
They are a work of art. Amazing how for they have come. Such a pleasure to fly.
A masterpiece in flight
@@edoardomartignoni3222 I could not agree more!
Congrats!!!, I am sure you are stoked!!!
@romeromf yes , thank you, I was very happy to get a flight in before the snow flies! I was really starting to wonder
Very cool! I just saw the assembly video yesterday. It's great seeing one of my friends actually fly it! 🎉
Great! And now you know what they are doing 👍They look amazing in the sky (and on the ground 😉
@MikeBomstad very true Mike! So much faster than my wing. LOL
@@MarkLoves2Fly I fly pg also, yes, yes it is!
Pretty decent no-wind landing, congrats. That wing really floats.
Yes it does, I was surprised how slow for the little wind there was. Thanks!
That looks amazing ,,, well done.
Thanks. She flies veer, very nice!
Nicely done Mike .
Thanks! It was a very good first flight and a rare late Oct thermal day.

Congrats on the new glider! Would you please share a picture of the nose latch?

@@MikeBomstad Okay, I understand now. I have a 2019 VR with the new latch design. I though they have change it again 😄
Pretty much a proper glider.
Yes it is. They have an airbrake option as well.
Whats the glide ratio compared to more conventional gliders?
This Atos model is 20:1
Sailplanes range from 25:1 - 60:1
@@MikeBomstad is it trading that for speed? Must be awesome!

@pauloalmeida4492 yes to answer your question, it is awesome!!
I've had some truly amazing flights on this type of glider.
Hi Mike! Andy here. How does the handling, sink rate, stall speed, glide, etc, compare to your VQ Race?

I’m jealous 🤷🏽♂️.
I use to fly a Phoenix 6b jr …. Not exactly like that 🙄
Nice! They sure have come a long way haven't they.... performance, safety, handling.
