Hello Dave, I have gotten a bunch of these free or very cheap because they no longer worked. It has always been the battery that was the problem. Thanks for the video.

You could replace the battery, but depending on the age of the device, the capacitors may have dried up, or budged. Sometimes the electronics can be so old that the charging circuit may overcharge the battery, causing a replacement to leak. To replace the battery in that particular unit, would cost almost as much as buying another unit.

I got two of these in a thrift store for three dollars each. Replace both batteries for about 60 total. My girlfriend never turns off the office pc and doesn't save her files so this thing is perfect for when a storm interrupts the power

I got one of these from a patient’s house I worked at because he got a new one and the battery went bad in his old one, he gave the old one to me. I wasn’t going to buy a new battery so I decided to experiment. Since I could hear that the old liquid inside the battery had dried up I just added distilled water to the little cavities at the top of the battery, and it worked perfectly fine.

This is amazing. I found one of these at the dump with the exact issue. I'm just amazed at the coincidence. Thanks a lot

those batteries can show 12v and have zero amps coming thru... if you inspect it carefully you will see crack someplace in the casing.

Well I had the same issue with mine and replace the battery and that indicator still blinks. It seems to work I no longer have a PC or have the CD Rom. So at present the backup is working but I think its on the replacement list. I have had this for maybe 10 years and replaced the battery before. So I think it’s probably ready to be updated.

If you have done this already unplug it from the wall take the battery out then turn the power switch on about a minute then rein stall battery plug it back in see if that resets the chip if not then maybe time to replace it

I’m confused. When attached to the charger, shouldn’t the backups behave like it has a working battery?

$19 ????? This video is 3 years old but I've owned several of these for more than a decade. I've never found a new batter for anywhere near that price. Where can you buy batteries for $19?

Are you sure about the lithium replacements? The charging parameters are totaly different for lithium batteries. Sure it may be same in size, but wouldnt use lithiums without knowing for sure it is supported by manufacturer. Lithiums are fire hazard wrongly used.

Sold as a replacement for APC UPS. Has a BMS, presumably programed to accept the APC charge profile. But a bit confusing because it also says "only use a compatible lithium charger " "12V 7AH Lithium Replacement Battery for APC Back-UPS 550 BE550G" "Invest in power with the Mighty Max 12V 7ah Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery. The ML7-12LI will take your deep cycle battery experience to a whole new horizon. Manufactured with the highest quality components and the customers safety in mind, this battery contains a battery management system (BMS). BMS provides all kinds of protection for the battery and customer, equipped with Over charge and short circuit protection. Weighing only 1.70 lbs. and being a direct drop in replacement for its sister sealed lead acid and Gel batteries which weigh a hefty 5.00 lbs. Lighter, stronger and longer life span with 2500 cycles makes this the ideal battery for all your Deep Cycle applications such as, Solar / wind energy systems, Off Grid systems, RV, Camping, Backup power systems and much more.
Attention - Designed to be used in parallel with a maximum of 4 identical batteries. Do not connect in series. Make sure to only use a compatible lithium charger for this battery and tightly screw the terminals. Having loose terminals will cause a buildup of heat resulting in damage to the battery.
      Specifications:
      Voltage: 12 Volt
      Amperage: 7 AH
      Terminal: F2
      Chemistry: Lithium Iron Phosphate"
