My best thing is being warm in winter, i have the sliding hatch open 4" all the time to let cat in and out. My least favouritevis having to clean an hour every day in winter due to soot from the solid fuel stove.
As a wannabe retiree narrowboater, thanks for being candid about the social aspects of canal/river life as I would be a singleton boater (I might eventually get a bit lonely with just myself and dog for company) Also very full of great boat choice practicalities 👍 You've given me quite a few things to look out for when I finally perchase my boat My retirement is next year so its research time 😅 Ive been debating if I should keep a small base on land A foot in each camp (if I can afford it) Maybe split my time/seasons between boating and land might help me to keep some grounded community.. Umm... food for thought Thanks to both of you Take care And keep warm 💗✨️🙏
Always good video's, thank you!!! Saw this video on TH-cam about the one canal here in Pennsylvania USA. The Delaware Canal, which went from the coal region of Pennsylvania to Philadelphia. Most of it is now gone, washed away by floods of the Delaware River. Approx 20 minutes of silent video.
@@tmack1 The Delaware Canal could easily be repaired and rewatered between New Hope and Bristol. There's also a bit of the Schuylkill canal near Phoenixville in lock 60 park and another bit in Manayunk that you can paddle around in. 😃
No budget constraint? Well, at the time I first discovered narrowboating channels, I was playing a lot of Kerbal Space Program in which you build your own spaceships. The obvious thing to do, though I never quite got around to it, was to build a narrowboat which could go to space. ;) I might try it in Juno: New Origins some day, which has a better build system. Speaking of boats and not flying, I had an entertaining little exchange the other day with someone who listed all these places he'd love to visit, all of which were on the Eurasian landmass, but then he described himself as a flightless Kiwi. That's a very long boat journey! :) Psst! The end cards are missing again.
Hey, IF you ever did the Erie Canal have lock keeper and open once an hour. You would never have to get out of the boat! No hand cranking...Just saying. The touble with The Erie it closes from Nov. 1 to Apr. 1. Our weather (snow and ice) doesn't permit it. PS The Erie is 150m from my house.
Please fix audio. There's a low hum in the background. Also, left and right channels are backwards. Otherwise, love listening about your life on the canals ❤
Good morning ❤️

the sky is the limit with no budget constraints. Though if we are talking space travel I guess it isn't.
@@MinimalListMaximalVelocity Yeah :)
I dont mind using a launderette, so nice to exchange all clean clothes and upholstery for £35 per month.
