I had the honor of attending a Halloween party she threw one year and it was absolutely epic! She decorated every inch of the home and it was beautiful. If you ever have the chance to sit down and meet Christopher, the stories he will tell growing up in his Mother’s world. Great video Michael and Jessica! ♥️
I met Anne Rice once at a book signing in Massachusetts. She signed my copy of Interview of a Vampire which I still have. She was so beautiful. Looked just like a porcelain doll. I was totally tongue tied, but did tell her how much I admired her and enjoyed her writing. She was very gracious. I’ll never forget it or her. 🥀
What a lovely grave site for Ms. Rice and another interesting cemetery. I love how Jessica completely embraces who she is - and she always looks lovely doing it! Hope your trip is going well! Be safe! 🖤💚🎃💀
I read her first book when I was ten years old and fell in love instantly with her and all things gothic and dark. I cried when I heard of her passing. I'm hoping one day to visit and to pay my respects. Thank you guys.🌹
My Lil dog Thor pup and I visited Anne Rice's grave back in February 2022, during Mardi Gras. I left her some beads, & a kiss on the outside of her tomb. She is my favorite author of all time. My beloved Mother, Cheryl Lord passed away from cardic arrest about 1 month before Anne passed. It was like losing 2 Mothers to me. It has always been a dream of mine to visit NoLa and see all the places Anne wrote about. I finally made it there, but alas was too late to meet Anne in person. Thor pup sat calmly on the steps of the Rice tomb, while I ugly cried and payed my respects. I wouldn't be the person I am today without Anne's books. RIP 🙏 Love, Luna & Thor pup too
Anne and JK Rowling single handedly got me through adolescence. I read Queen of the Damned so many times the paperback fell apart. I still have it though. Thank you Anne, for sharing your universe with all of us lost ❤️ 🙏
My favorite series by Anne is The Witching Hour. When I first read it, I didn't know it was a trilogy. I now own all 3 books. I know she has written more than that, but this is the only series that grabbed by attention. I love ghost story novels too. My favorite ghost story book is called Haunted by Tamara Thorne.
May her Spirit live on, on the page and through the blood of her beloved son, Christopher. A beautiful woman was she, inside and out: whenever I faced challenges in my own writer's journey, Anne would always take the time to lend her advice and help pull me over the Garden wall. She will forever be an inspiration. She will forever be a friend. And she will forever be in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
Anne is truly in a better place ...she was my hero ..................................at her mock funeral, I imagine Nicky playing his violin in the background .....................................Anne also wrote the Sleeping Beauty series.....my favorite books of all of hers were "Cry to Heaven" and "The Feast of All Saints".......I went thru Lafayette cemetery in the 80's to be near Anne for Mardi Gras ...you are always very respectful of your topics ..bravo
I lived close by and had to pass every day to get to work. Metairie holds friends of mine. It truly is a beautiful cemetery. You can drive inside to visit just pull over and walk around the streets as they're named. Anne has a beautiful tomb. I'm so glad you visited it. New Orleans is home 4ever.
There really is beauty in cemeteries, especially in New Orleans. I didn’t get to do any cemetery tours when I took a trip with friends in 2019, but we got to quickly peek into one in the Garden District on a tour. The same tour actually took us to Miss Robichaux’s filming location, among a ton of other places. The little bit we got to see was breathtaking.
I love how when Jessica is walking among the graves, she appears to be waving to each one as she passes. I love, love, love Lafayette Cemetery. I have a family mausoleum there. I can't believe it is still closed for renovation. 🧛🏻♀️👻⚰️
I read Vampire Chronicles all through my high school years. I will miss her because she literally saved my life. Vampire Chronicles got me through some of my darkest moments and if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have found Forever Knight
I've been in St. Elizabeths. My youngest daughter was in her teens and we took her with us to NOLA. My husband worked for a computer company that had a contract with the NFL to set up, monitor, and take down the statistics computers for the games. The NFL paid for the hotel (nice one) and we tagged along (We did our honeymoon working a game in 1993). We actually saw the Tom Cruise movie in New Orleans a couple days after it came out. When we took Kimmi with us, she was a HUGE Anne Rice fan. When we brought her down to our house to live, we registered her into the 6th grade. I was concerned that they would hold her back in her reading and writing skills. When the principal asked her what she was reading at the moment, she said "An Interview With the Vampire." The principal was taken aback, that was not the answer she expected, obviously. She looked at us, and I nodded, and she said 'Doesn't that scare you?" to my daughter. In her best dead-pan Wednesday Addams-like imitation, she said, "No, should it?" And yes, that's what she was reading. We have the book that has all the places in Anne's books and we took us with us for the weekend. to find all the stuff. We took her to the garden district and to Anne's house. Then we went to St. Elizabeth's and did the tour. We saw the doll collection, which was massive. Fans from all over sent dolls to her (and I wonder what happened to all of them when she moved). We did St. Louis 1 with her. I didn't know about the books store you mentioned but we did find a shop with vampire things in the little mall attached to the Commander's Palace restaurant across from the Lafayette cemetery (which we did go through). There was a giant Nosferatu standing menacingly over the balcony railing to the 2nd floor shop and inside the store there was a 4 ft tall, hand-made Lestat doll for sale (I don't remember how much, I know it was more than we had, for sure. I did pick up a couple things for the daughter that she wanted there. Anne had an effect on me as well. In 2013 I finally got my dream published, I write a vampire series that starts in New Orleans in Book 1 and I'm working on book 6 right now (and we're in Russia for part of that one). When I got my new teeth (I had to get dentures, I'm in my late 60s now), I had them put fangs on the incisors. They're not long but they are there. It made the dentist and his staff crazy when I insisted on that one. Thanks you guys for doing your channel, I'm subscribed and I love the things you do. (and I love Baby Ghoul's wardrobe).

Thank you for sharing all of this. I am planning to visit and pay my respects to Anne and wanted to get a good idea on where the Mausoleum was ahead of my visit. Much appreciated and highly informative video. The Garden District Bookshop was on my list but I had no idea that it had so many things connected with Anne's memory so that was great to learn.
Omg I Love New Orleans and I especially Love Anne Rices Books I’ve also read Christoper Rice .. she was such an Amazing writer🙏😔…. Love your Channel Grimmlife Collective 👍 Thank you both so much for honoring Anne Rice🙏
Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors. She introduced me to and fed my love for vampires and horror! Her book, Queen of the Damned, is grotesque, dark, evil and MAGICAL. When she passed, I cried. May she rest in peace.
Queen of the Damned is one of my favorite books. Have you read The Witching Hour? It's worth a read despite being one of her largest books. It is just as much about New Orleans as it is about witches. I am not going to watch the TV show. They can't even get the names of the characters right! That's how hilariously sloppy the writers are.
Yassss thank you so much for all of your videos but more this one. I’m a huge fan of Anne Rice and just got back from New Orleans. 💖🙌 Her houses are beautiful and I did stop by the Garden District book shop also. We saw a crow around her home and we also stopped by the houses in the Mayfair Witches series & American Horror Story Coven. All beautiful. There are plenty of crows around.
I was honored to actually meet her on more than one occasion at her book signings. She really knew how to make an entrance and she was a really nice lady . She inspired me to keep writing poems and short stories.
My favorite thing about this channel is that you are showing these highly emotional areas in such a respectful way. Of course there is a dark curiosity there but you explore it in a way that still honors these places. I’d be honored to get to visit your final resting place one day I know it would be absolutely beautiful.
My mom hooked me in to her writing. I love Interview with the Vampire, the book and the movie. Had no clue she had passed away. Bless her! Her writing is beautiful!🥀
Another great video! That copy of The Vampire Chronicles Jessica had at first was stunning omg. I hope she bought it! Also Anne really shaped the world of vampires and fanfiction. Suing lots of fanfic authors for creating works based on hers before fanfics we're really mainstream. She's one of the main reasons why authors have to put "The original content, characters are not mine, all belong to the author besides the OCs." On most fics. She was a truly magnificent author and her fandoms live on today. Honestly the Anne Rise/ Vampire Chronicles fandom has my utmost respect for real. They deal with alot thru the yrs, and waiting yrs for her stories to continue with her hiatus and the films, in the fans opinions, weren't not the best, waiting yrs for new content, ect. And still continue on loving her works throughout it all. Love you guys doing this and honoring her memory. Happy Halloween 🎃
Anne Rice will always be one of the best writers ever in my eyes. New Orleans is such an interesting and magical place. Everyone should visit it at least once. (And try the amazing food!) Also - Jessica looks gorgeous! ❤
y'all do a better video about her and her grave than I have seen others do! I really appreciate how you guy's do for these videos and the respect y'all give to the dead. interview with the vampire will always be my favorite and the movie as well.
Beautiful video. Nobody will ever convince me that she didn't have first hand knowledge/inside information. She fueled so many imaginations and fantasies, past , present and for generations to come.🥰
Loved it. I'm a huge Anne Rice fan. Her mausoleum does seem a bit bare in comparison. Perhaps they are still working on it? I'd love to see a weeping tree shrouding her. A contemplation statue... Oh Anne. You are missed. Glad you are reunited with Stan and Michelle. X
I have visited Metairie cemetary twice. It is a little off of the beaten path from the other nearby cemetaries. it is absolutely beautiful!!! imake sure to pay my respect to one of my favorite authors. Another noteworthy site i the former burial place of Josie Arlington.
I forgot to also mention the cemetery is just beautiful. I have visited it a few times. the Lafayette one's as well. I miss New Orleans. such a beautiful city. 🎃🦇👻
Very well done video! I didn't even know she passed away... I loved the video of her mock funeral... Sounds like she was a really fun person and extremely talented... I like the idea of your mausoleum to pay our respects to you two while you're still alive;unique idea but makes me a little sad as well. Anyway, thanks for the spectacular video!
For some reason I always figured her as not real. Can't explain it. Like she was a vampire. On the flip side I've seen her interviews, so I know she is real. If I remember correctly she was on Phil Donahue and she was f'ing with him as he was asking some stupid ass questions. He finally caught on she was f'ing with him. But it took him a bit.
RIP Ms. Rice, you are a true champion, pioneer and legend. Interview with the Vampire is a modern-day classic and will be in the "cannons" of that discipline in writing.
Big Anne Rice fan since the beginning. So glad I found your channel. Love everything you do. I went to New Orleans in the early 90's and went to the Garden district and visited Lafayette cemetery and saw Marie Laveau's mausoleum. It was surrounded by flowers and gifts. People still revere her and ask her for help. Also saw Anne Rice's home. My cousin turned me on to her when 'Interview' came out. I was hooked immediately. My cousin even tried to file her canine teeth to a point. 🥴. I loved New Orleans and one day will make it back. Thank you for your awesome videos.
I was born and raised in New Orleans and when I started to become of fan of Anne Rice and found out she lived there, my mom used to tell me how she and my dad was able to get in to one of the Halloween parties and it was vampire themed. She told me that it was so much fun and got to meet her for a minute.
I Love anytime you GriMMs go to the cemetery... it makes my day go SO much better. The both of you have so much fun, and the details you put into the research of the said cemeteries, are very interesting. Anne Rice was 80 when she died!?.... I always thought Ms. Rice was much younger ---- I'm so glad she was put into such a grand mausoleum, for leading such a grand life. Also, I LOVED Ms. GriMMs acting moment, but good---- i believe she should make a cameo on "What We Do in the Shadows"... Yes, that would be a thing to do... Thanks, for taking us all along for the ride in New Orleans..... :^)""""""""
Loved this video. You guys always go way and beyond! My mom loved Anne Rice ,THANK YOU BOTH -for what you and Jess do for us! Please tell me that you both will be at Spooky Empire in October @ Orlando!🧡🖤 Happy Halloween!🎃
Thank you for going to pay respects to the Great Lady herself when many of us cannot. Her novels saved me as a young LGBT teen. I felt and still feel like I belong among her wonderful characters. ❤
My Dad bought Interview With A Vampire when it was first published and released specifically to read in the waiting room while I was being born. Things were different back then and Dad's didn't go into the room when mom was in labor. He gave me the same book when I turned 16 and my love affair with Lestat began!
Thank you for this video. I have loved and rice and her books for years. Keep on doing your videos. They are highly informative and entertaining. You guys do such a great job!
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I have always wanted to visit New Orleans again and after Anne's passing, this gives me more reason to do so in the future.
Awesome as always. Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors. Thank you for taking us on a tour. Hope you all are having a wonderful trip. I love Jessica’s outfit and the veil. My grandmother helped me work on a dress I designed many years ago before she passed away and Jessica’s dress reminded me so much of it. Mine is still in the closet. I just recently cleaned it and I finally found an extra long black veil to go with it. It seems like ever since my grandmother and I first began making the dress all those years ago I’ve still kept adding something too it each year following. Some new accessory or a small alteration lol. Anyway thank you guys for taking us to such wonderful places. Have as much fun as possible and take care 👋🏻
I love cemetaries. Ever since I used to hang out at the cemetary near my high school. It was dramatic, romantic, spooky. We loved it. I am at the age where I have to decide whether I want to have my remains in my hometown or the city I grew to love and settle down in. Both have it's advantages. Still deciding. Used to do my homework sitting in cemataries in Hollywood while attending drama school, so of course I gravitated to this channel. Great jobs you guys.
I've read a lot of Anne Rice's books over the years. She was remarkable. I always got entranced in the stories. Thank you for doing this video and sharing it with us so we can also pay our respects to a wonderful lady. May she rest in peace
Thank you for this lovely visit. Anne Rice's books mean worlds to me. I never got to go to one of her parties either but I do have an autograph she signed at one, it was collected for my by a friend who did attend one year and it is a treasure.
Beautiful video! Anne was a gift to us all. And just for future reference, a mausoleum is a free-standing structure made as a memorial site. A tomb is the part that actually holds the remains. So a mausoleum can hold one or many tombs. In this case, the Rice mausoleum currently houses 3 tombs.
"A mausoleum may be considered a type of tomb or the tomb may be considered to be within the mausoleum. " That is a sentence from the Wikipedia article on "mausoleum."
Anne Rice was one of the novelists that really changed my life with her Vampire Chronicles books along with the Harry Potter books. But hearing Anne Rice dying of a stroke, I mourned horribly. She knew how to take the vampire genre and make it into an analogy of human nature and how we look at ourselves. She left behind a remarkable legacy. As sad as I am about it now, a part of me is hopeful because she's reunited with her daughter (who she based Claudia off of) on the other side.
Katrina and I was in New Orleans February 22nd-25th. We left there on the morning of the 25th. We had fun. We would of stayed if we would of had more money. I fell in love with the city. In Crescent City books I saw an article on Ann Rice about her death and burial also some of her books. I am a huge fan of hers can't wait to go back.
OMG I was just there on Friday. I took a picture of the first one you showed where Jessica was standing as well because I thought it was interesting. I got a picture of the “castle cathedral” too. There are some amazing ones there. Also, the St Elizabeth house you visited is across the street where my daughter lived.
When Interview with a Vampire came out at the theatres my GF at the time was excited that we got tickets for opening weekend. 5 minutes into the movie she gets up and says were leaving. She was such a fan of Anne Rice she couldn't bare to see the movie adaption of the book with all the inaccuracies. She was literally heartbroken. Good Video Grimm Life .
I am a huge Anne Rice fan, so is my 1sr born son, I gave him Interview when he was about 10, he loved it and read all my AR books, in fact he has several of them. I can’t believe she’s gone, I loved her from afar, though truth be told, I lived in the Bay Area, when Interview With A Vampire was released. I read all her books, including The Mummy, The Mayfair Witch series. I read her biography, I still have it. Most of my books are 1st editions, I bought them as fast as she could write them. Also Belinda, East Of Eden, the sexy Beauty books…

I’d love to visit New Orleans, and I’d love to place a single flower on the steps of the mausoleum. A flower for Anne 🥀 . Thank you for sharing this video, tastefully done

Right!? Didn't know she passed also
Cool!
Omg! I lived in New Orleans and we frequently went to her house to look at it. I didn’t know she died.
I was born and raised in New Orleans and when I started to become of fan of Anne Rice and found out she lived there, my mom used to tell me how she and my dad was able to get in to one of the Halloween parties and it was vampire themed. She told me that it was so much fun and got to meet her for a minute.
Thank you! I admire Jessica's commitment to the long sleeve black maxi dress, black veil, and hair down, in that heat.
Rest in Peace Ann Rice. Loved her books. Thank you!
Love this one!!! RIP ANNE!!!! She is my favorite author.
Missed it!
Graveyards there are something else, beautiful artwork that gives you the chills
Thank you so much for making this video! I love her. She's my favorite author, and a goth icon. Jessica looks stunning and so appropriate!
Loved this video. You guys always go way and beyond! My mom loved Anne Rice ,THANK YOU BOTH -for what you and Jess do for us! Please tell me that you both will be at Spooky Empire in October @ Orlando!🧡🖤 Happy Halloween!🎃
This was very informative, New Orleans seems like an genuinely creepy place. Amazing history.
Jessica looks great! Really sets the mood. Thanks guys! Love your programs.
Thank you for going to pay respects to the Great Lady herself when many of us cannot. Her novels saved me as a young LGBT teen. I felt and still feel like I belong among her wonderful characters. ❤
Cool Michael and Jessica. Visiting the resting place of Anne Rice. She left behind a legacy. Opening the doors for new vampire stories. 🧛
Thank you for doing this video. I love Anne Rice she my favorite author.
Always excited to watch u both
Thanks for another great video. I live in Southern Alabama and haven't been to New Orleans since 1992. I may have to take a trip.
I loved all her books! Such talent! The line opening line.. “The vampire Lestat..” got me hooked ever since. RIP 🖤
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I have always wanted to visit New Orleans again and after Anne's passing, this gives me more reason to do so in the future.
I loved her novels especially interview with the vampire! ❤️
I met Anne Rice at a book signing in Berkeley,Ca in the early 90s Got her autograph 🌹Great video you two 🧛♀️🧛♂️
She is my favorite author. She will be sorely missed 😢 Thanks to y'all for all your hard work and great content 🌹😍🌹
I always sit patiently waiting for my new episode of Grimm Life 😊💯
I love cemetaries. Ever since I used to hang out at the cemetary near my high school. It was dramatic, romantic, spooky.
We loved it. I am at the age where I have to decide whether I want to have my remains in my hometown or the city I grew
to love and settle down in.
This was wonderful!! Thank you for a very respectful visit to
the Cemetary. Jessica..you are the best walking around in
mourning...so very true.
Agree!
Such beauty in this place.....beyond gorgeous
An interesting lady, never read her books but love the movies based off them
Anne Rice was one of the novelists that really changed my life with her Vampire Chronicles books along with the Harry Potter books.
I’ve always enjoyed your videos. Keep it up, you guys rock.
It's always great to have you two come visited. Maybe next I will get to meet you both.
Omg aww your guys idea is so sweet ✨
Thank you for doing this Ann Rice is wonderful I miss her so.
Thanks for the new video.
I'm always checking here to see if you've uploaded a new video. I'm always extremely happy when something appears from you. Thank you for many many hours that you have entertained me. You have driven away my boredom in the Corona time. Greetings from good old Germany sends you the "Freiburger Bobbele Jens".
I’ve loved all of Anne Rice’s books. I’m currently halfway through ‘Lasher’ again. I haven’t read it for about 20 years. Thanks for the wonderful tour.
Very nice video!! Hello from Gatlinburg Tennessee Great Smoky mountains national park
Today is my birthday. What a great birthday present! A video from my Favorite Ghouls! Anne Rice is legendary. 🎃
I’d love to visit New Orleans, and I’d love to place a single flower on the steps of the mausoleum. A flower for Anne 🥀 . Thank you for sharing this video, tastefully done
