I'm met him at this club in Manhattan in like 2018. We briefly met, and he gave me very nice compliments, but he was definitely high on something. I remember telling my friend after I met him, " he should've NEVER moved back to NYC, he's just gonna get back into drugs again". And he we are....

Alig got high on his own supply, believing that he was "too good" for a normal job and hoping that his "celebrity" would support him and allow him to coast through life. Sadly, that was not the case. I know all the players, Michaels problem is that he never grew up.

I mean yeah?! No shit lol! He earned a living in the same way from the time he was a teenager to the moment he went into prison. He had the red carpet rolled out as soon as he was released- everyone wanted him to be involved in different projects that had been waiting for his release. It was already predetermined & he did what anyone would naturally do. He actually tried to make a real effort to work & make an honest living which can't be said for the majority of felons who spent almost 20 years in federal prison.

    • @MissCane9
      @MissCane9 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

I think he had a conscience. But it was a different world. He was lost and the people there for him were the last people he needed to be around. He should've gone away quietly; stayed sober and rebuilt his life. You can't leverage his kind of fame..

I know he had a hard life and was a drug addict but he was objectively a bad person and a murderer, his art was just recreations of other people's more popular designs and an obvious sign of his ongoing obsession with Warhol. Video is great but I hate how people are so forgiving of someone that made the choice to not only violently murder someone but toss them out like garbage.

    • @RetroRoomYT

      Thanks,
He was definitely in a losing battle with his demons. I don’t know how many of his former club kids really forgave him, aside from the ones who believed that Robert Riggs, was actually the killer. It’s hard to say, for sure. But I know many of them just used him to get publicity and to make money. There was a few very shady characters in that group and Alig may have been the shadiest of them

Oh yeah, it was Michael Alig that interviewed Desmond the "drag kid," with a massive painting behind him with the word, "Rohypnol." How weird to have two grown men on either side a kid, interviewing him, and the kid looking doped up, in front of that painting.

Omfg. Desmond was not, "doped up"...why doesn't anyone talk about Desi being on the spectrum, and drag helped him out with so much? The guys (The Peeew hosts), helped him with exposure to the dragcon type world, leading to meeting RuPaul, leading to being on Vogue twice etc...His mother was well-aware what she was doing to help her son's career and he is a happy well-adjusted kid...even outside the bullying he received at school for his identity. Michael's paintings were all over that set/apartment. It really says a great deal about the perverted masses that that is where they jumped with the whole interview. Very sad people are so bigoted they see crime everywhere. Except when someone like, Corey Feldman, says "Hey, these specific people abused me and other kids"...then, no one listens...but we must protect the children!

Thank you for this. Through your channel and the Peew, I'd sort of kept up on Alig until around 2019. He even replied to one of my comments way back when. But I was clueless about the last year or so of his life. Now I know. It's hard to feel pity for him, but at the same time I know all too well what addiction can do to a person, so... I just hope the family of his victim have finally been able to find peace, as well as Michael.

I went to his Outrage parties and hung out with him one-on-one several times before things got too toxic for me and I quit that whole scene. He wasn't even that fun to be around because he was so neurotic about his "work," i.e. relentless self-promotion. When I heard the news that he'd fatally OD'd finally, I wasn't surprised, and I don't pity him at all because he sure as hell didn't give a shit about anyone else.

A man was killed like trash, and to glamorize the killer is a sociopathic in itself. James St. James was an opportunist who used Alig for profit and Alig didn't have enough sense to know because Alig was a sociopathic narcissist. However, the guilt took its toll and Alig died of heroin overdose in 2020.

His depiction in Party Monster was so incredibly toned down to how loud, obnoxious, and gregarious he was in real life. I remember the Club Kids entourage when they came to Dallas and spent months in our rave culture. They were like Killer Clowns from Outer Space. Lookup any of their appearances on talk shows. How could he be irritated by his depiction in Party Monster? Even his death proves he had No self control and didn't listen to James St. James top rule, not to ever touch Heroin. Michael was very obviously Bi Polar. His mania and subsequent Crashes were the bane of his existence. That mixed with the drugs were a powder keg

I used to watch their channel and just felt like Michael was going off the rails and suspected he had returned to his old self destructive behaviors, like when they went through his lunch box with the short straws etc. I'm sure enough people mooched to get something and threw him away, but he made it worse. Oh well, maybe he and everyone involved can have peace. Thanks for posting!!. ❤️❤️❤️

Actually, Michael had quite a few ~real~ friends, but bonding with other human beings didn't exactly come naturally to him. It's difficult to be friends with someone who has no empathy and a big, childish ego. For some reason, Ernie just never stopped making excuses for Michael like the rest of us did once we quit drinking the Kool-Aid.

@@mjreikiriot3302 Oh, please. Michael loved every minute of the drama and attention he got from both Jay (the "bad dude") and all of us who witnessed that shitshow. I was actually dumb enough at first to think I could somehow rescue him from that whole situation, but then I realized playing the battered wife was just another costume he enjoyed wearing, and in front of an audience.

I can honestly say he cried more tears than the jaded hearts will ever believe. He enjoyed when people treated him well, but like many, he'd take bad attention over nothing. Growing up without healthy parents can do that.

Thank you for sharing. From 1990 - 1994 I lived in a 30,000 sqf warehouse downtown Dallas (4404 Main Street/ 4404 Productions) and put on the biggest of DJ featured events. That's when I meet and got to know Michael. Avant-guard was his style and a 'gentle giant' he was. I evented Danger in Deep Space 03/27/1993 and flew down Michael, Ern Glam, Christopher Comp, Astro Earl, Waltpaper, Desi Monster and Eva Destruction... Dallas never recovered from when we next day (still up) I tour guided them to the Galleria Mall, Macy's, J.C Pennies... As Astro would say "awshit, we let'em have it!"

If he wasn’t stupid as a kid and bragging about his drug use and how the club allows it they would’ve lasted much longer also not killing someone and talking about it. He would’ve gotten away with it most likely. He wanted attention for it in some way. No one knows what actually happened in the murder to. They didn’t even recognize the guys race correctly by the time they found him. That’s how much luck he had getting away with it and the cops didn’t care at all until they needed to

Extremely tasteful tribute to an otherwise distasteful character (as some would definitely attest to), I myself certainly DO NOT agree with this sentiment. I’ve always been ambivalent about Michael, however my reaction to his passing showed that I DID truly feel, root and empathised for this guy. Even in spite of his narcissistic histrionics lay a shrewdly intelligent and creative pioneer who definitely knew how to make a comeback. It’s a shame there’ll never be another one from him now, just a legacy. Ima gonna go have a look at some more of your channel.

What do you think was actually going on with that hot messiness because if it was simply just a drug type of situation then it had to have either been some kinda antipsychotic, which I’d find to be somewhat ironic given the way she’d oftentimes present herself as a person literally in the midst of a psychotic episode. So was she adopting the persona of a psychedelically induced individual, or was she just copying someone who seriously was, I honestly can’t tell, maybe she was just K-Holing it on Ketamine the whole entire time? Only thing that’s for damn sure is how utterly atrocious the types of people who should’ve been protecting her behaved, turns out they were actually the people causing her the most harm, physically in some cases. Truly such a crying shame is the story of this Superstar!
