Beautiful track! Brings back great memories of all the AFX/HO tracks we had back in the early 70's. We had a 40-foot drag strip and we would race for each other's cars! My buddy had this Malibu (if I recall correctly) that whipped every car in the neighborhood! Even those old Dragsters that were out! I recognize many of your cars as well, especially the older cars. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Drone, I missed the ability to have a track back then and thought about it for the next 40+ years until I started this in Jan of 2022. It’s been a blast
I used to race AFX in my neighbors basement when I was a kid in the 70's. He had about 1000 sqft of track...not sure, but it was a huge layout. The track had five or six lanes. We would go to the hobby shop and buy modified motors to make them go super fast and place metal shimmies in the magnet area to help the cars stick to track better during high speed turns. We also would buy clear car chassis and paint them to our liking. It was expensive (at the time) but it was huge fun to race. There were always trophies and some cash prizes after the races! Thanks for reminding me of that time!
Man what a memory and many memories made in your neighbors basement as a kid. I got into slot car racing when my neighbor as well when I was a kid when we lived in cannada invited me and my dad over to his basement once club race night and let me race a 1/24 scale slot car with my dad against them during their weekly fri and sat night club racing and he had a massive 6 lane commercial tracks in his basement massive house and basement as well he had a huge road course 6 lanes and a massive 1/24 scale commercial oval track as well. And man that was fun. I was already racing real racecars at the track my parents owned but In winter nothing to do besides snowboard and he got me into slot racing and helped me build my first 1/24 scale brass chassis oval and road course cars. Lots of great memories now I have a massiveI got the exact same track exceot i added a bunch of extra track pieces and it fits on a 16 foot by 8 foot wide table barley i jept it the same style of lay out just made it way wider more turns 3 large high soeed straights and ot takes 18.7 seconds os the track record right bow for a box stock mega g plus f1 car with gel claw tires and on box stock tires and same class kf mega g plus car that track record is 19.001 seconds the gel claws made that much of a difference on same car with same driver going as fast as it possibly could around it. And I can't fit a 1)24 scale track in my racecar shop so I went with ho for right now until my shed is finished that's gonna be climate controlled with a massive 1/24 scale wood routed 6 lane oval with the Carrera digital system integrated into it so you can have all the Carrera digital features on a wood routed oval track
My older brother had a race set like this though much smaller. Come to think of it, he always had the better toys. Oh well, he let me play with them. Great memories.
This brings back old memories when I was a kid, I like the fact that you got the track on the table at eye level and not on the floor, I used to have Tyco and AFX
That Was Truly AWESOME... I Only Thought the TCR Slotless Racing Set Cars Could Go That Fast, But Those Were Even Faster. Christmas Captured In Ah Bottle. 👍🏽👍🏽
In Long Island, back in the 60s, the big thing was drag racing to see who had the fastest car. Most of us had our own tracks at home and the main requirement was to have a nice long straight-away for drag racing.
Nice layout. Back in the 80's I had a nice Tyco track covering my drop leaf dining table. Not as elaborate as yours, but still nice. I was having fun in my late 20's & 30's to fulfill a childhood dream. The neighbor boy had fun with me. As a boy in the 60's, all we had was an Aurora figure 8 with a jaguar and corvette. Had to clean the brushes all the time and oil the gears. 😎
Your track is really coming along nicely. I really like the rocks you put in, especially with the cand and cacti. Layout looks great and it works well too! The cars go around smoothly. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

Wow I am so impressed with your track and collection. I recently resurrected my o gauge trains. I had a large track and all of the neighborhood would come over and run their cars. We had Aurora, AFX. And Tyco cars. Great memories you have triggered. Thank you!
I started out with an HO set I got for Christmas as a kid, and had a lot of fun. I moved to 1/32 scale because I found the drivability better. With Ho scale, I was either stuck to the track or flying across the room, nothing in-between.
AFX was the first setup my parents got me. I spent hours tuning the cars, and adding tracks and climbing walls. Ahh memories, so glad I stumbled across slots on TH-cam
Your setup is really cool. Brings back old times. I have a large box of afx track with banked turns, loops, crossovers track accessories like bridge supports and railing. Lap counters ECT... super J cars some still new in their clear package.. Gun controllers transformers. Car parts new bodies, chassis, brushes, springs, tires, gears and axles - everything in excellent shape that has been shrink wrapped sitting next to a similar box of HO trains in my garage for decades now. Must have enough car track to fill a living room. Makes me want to open and set them up. My brother and I at a young age used to wind our on armatures to see who could make the fastest car and have straight line drag races into a pillow. Fun and Happy days. Planned on giving them to my grandsons but I have none.
Thanks Steve, I never kept anything from my youth. Sounds like you have a bunch ! You could sell some of it or donate it via one of the groups on Facebook or you could set something up and have some fun.

On those X-Traction chassis ive found if you push the magnet down some it will grip way better. Made a huge difference for me! Not gonna run like an AFX, but it hugs the track much better adjusting the magnet.
As kids, we would sometimes convert a Matchbox vehicle to fit on the Aurora motor chassis. They weren't nearly as fast because they were heavy, but it was fun to have so many different options!!

i like the jag hobbies TR3 and have several of them myself. they will stick to the track much longer than most other chassis at high speeds. the need for speed is real on the HO track. stay Blessed

I also remembef AFX, TYCO's competitor. Jackie Stewart was their spokesperson in the commercials. Always thought the AFX set up was closer to the real thing. They had automatic lap counters. While TYCO was more of an entertainment set with loops, glow in the dark tracks.
When we were kids we would put multi straight tracks together from various Tyco sets to create a long drag strip. The weren't enough power to cover the length of the strip..As men we know what to do now..someday i might get tracks again who knows..btw there was this G plus no one could beat back then

Wait...What? You have rocks not made out of plaster? Real rocks? Who knew? Lol. Great idea! Yeah big difference in Ford GTs size. Aurora and AFX. I asked AFX if they would make larger track? For the new supersized American cars. No response yet.

Nice setup !
Thanks Nick appreciate it
Looks good man
Thanks dude
I also remembef AFX, TYCO's competitor. Jackie Stewart was their spokesperson in the commercials. Always thought the AFX set up was closer to the real thing. They had automatic lap counters. While TYCO was more of an entertainment set with loops, glow in the dark tracks.
Absolutely I agree. ☝️
Now I know what I want for Christmas!
Nice Track!
Thanks Joe
Bravo monsieur, très beau circuit 👍😍
Thanks Richard
When we were kids we would put multi straight tracks together from various Tyco sets to create a long drag strip. The weren't enough power to cover the length of the strip..As men we know what to do now..someday i might get tracks again who knows..btw there was this G plus no one could beat back then
Those g plus cars are very fast
What a cool room!
Thanks Steve, slot cars make it better than a game room
Like your setup and didn't know if anyone has ever told you but you sound like John Goodman
Thanks Jodi and no that’s one I haven’t heard. 😆
Great hobby 👍 ❤
It sure is 👍🏻
When I was 10, I lied about my age and got a paper route. It's a wondrous time when you can blow your income on gum, comics, and AFX cars.
I no longer have the track, but I have all my cars, tires, spare parts, and that little bottle of red motor lube in a genuine AFX carry case.
That’s cool Jim, set up a track again !
I had an AFX set up a very long time ago go.
Awesome circuit. I had AFX and TCR when I was a kid.
Wait...What? You have rocks not made out of plaster? Real rocks? Who knew? Lol. Great idea! Yeah big difference in Ford GTs size. Aurora and AFX. I asked AFX if they would make larger track? For the new supersized American cars. No response yet.
Thanks dude.
