    You mentioned that the pattern of this billfold can be downloaded. Where is that found? Thank you for these lessons. I worked with leather over 50 years ago and decided to return and your videos are exceptionally helpful. Thank you

    Very interesting. It would be nice to see the working from your point of viewing. Most of this video shows the back side of your hand. It does not show if you are angling the tool or how you are actually moving the tool (except for the part where you showed how the tool bounces - that was VERY good).

    This series is very informative. I would like to know where you download the patter from as well as the photo finish. Thanks, Doug

      The pattern used for this wallet was created by Mr. Linnell, and used just for this video. It's not a pattern that we carry

    GREAT, great series! Thank you for taking the time to go into so much detail! One request though: Could you please move the camera so we can see how you hold the shader? For example, which way does the "fat" end of the shader point in the pattern, which way does the "pointy" end? From your narrative, I am pretty sure I am making many mistakes as a beginner, but it would help if I could actually see the shader IN your hand, not the back of your hand. THANK YOU!

      Jim loves to teach, and we're glad to help him do so! Unfortunately this tooling series has already been shot, however we have been collecting notes and feedback on how to potentially improve future segments. Hopefully if we are able to shoot another series with Mr. Linnell, we will be able to improve the angles to be able to show more of the tooling as it happens.
      As per your question about the shading, it may depend on the area that you are trying to shade. Often you will want to lead with the pointy end so that they shading can fade out a bit, however you may also use it side ways or at angles to cover different areas of shading. When in doubt, practice on scrap pieces of leather to get the feel of the tool and remember that moisture content can make a wold of difference.

    how long will a piece like this remain properly cased? It is obvious you are doing a lot of work on the design, taking a significant amount of time. Do you need to re-wet the piece? What happens if you are unable to finish and need to come back later? Do you leave it to dry, and re-case? Thanks!

    Hi Jim
    I downloaded the pattern for your floral wallet I have most of the stamps the I don`t have is B2701 I went to Tandy web site but there is no B2701 listed I don`t know if the store would have it or what tool should I use instead of that one?

      Thank you for catching that typo! It is actually the B2071 (available here: www.tandyleather.com/en/product/craftool-pro-stamp-center-shader-b2071?sSearch=b2071)
      We have updated the pattern.

    Hi Jim, does the base have to be marble?? Thanks

    • @TandyLeatherCo
      @TandyLeatherCo  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ray Salter Quartz also works. A softer base surface will tend to absorb some of the impact of your striking, making it difficult to get deep and consistent impressions, so it is important to have a solid base.
      You can find Quartz squares available in stores or on our website at www.tandyleather.com/en/product/deluxe-quartz-slab-12-x-12

    Очень бы хотелось, чтобы камера стояла так, чтобы видеть, что вы делаете. А-то пальцы всё закрывают.
