Such a wonderful game. Still so incredibly atmospheric and still looks great. There's magic in it that wasn't in any of the sequels which are all a bit crass. The music was never better either, one of the all time best scores. And great speedrun!
The greatest series ever made tomb raider 1-5, they should never have changed from this original format of movement and controls and puzzles. Thank you pop for introducing me to this game as a kid, many fond memories.

today i learned - as a child i barely got ANYWHERE in this game. when beckski finished the cave level she said something about it being a good "introduction to the game" - I DIDN'T KNOW THAT WASNT THE WHOLE GAME
Oh god same! I always thought that my mum needed months to get to the jurassic park level lol (Because I couldn't get past the caves cause I was too scared of the wolves and bears). I also thought to this day, that the dinosaur level was the last one.
The furthest I could get was Tomb Of Qualopec. Years later I got stuck on St Francis' Folly, the level right after it. So I guess I'm just not any good at this game.
Ditto but with Tomb Raider 2. They pretty much just started the game out on the first level with how hard the last level of 1 was, so it took for fookin ever as a kid to get to the end of it. Only got to the third level before I was an adult 😂
I remember this game from back in the day, and I'm impressed with any speedrunner just off how janky those controls are. She made it look like a completely different game just off of how smoothly she controls Lara

Love glitch runs for the technique and explanations of what is broken in the game. Glitchless is a lot of fun, too, but I love the fresh look that a glitch run can give to a game, especially older ones.
I used to play Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business on my pc when it came out. I loved just platforming and vaulting around her mansion in the training lol! Great run and an awesome runner
I've played just Tomb Raid Anniversary and I didn't know untill this moment (after all these years) that it is a sort of remake of the original! Amazing mind blown And nice run :)
One of my favorite games ever being run at SGDQ! I love it! I just wish the couch had something to comment about how the crazier glitches work (you know, just to sate our curiosity), but still, pretty fun run to watch!

They are kinda tied amongst players but if you ask non-gamers they probably have no idea who samus is, while everyone know lara croft. Ofc it has to do with how much attention she got from the medias at the time but lara is definitly the most iconic female character in gaming history since she goes well beyond her own community The blonde in the orange powersuit is still my personal favorite though
tomb raider 2 was one of the first games i've played (let's say I'VE played... i mostly watched my older siblings play ^^) and i'm happy to see it played here ^^ i remember how much problems we had with second last boss (geodude)... we often saw the fall-off glitch in which he does his kill animation no matter if you've died to him or to falling ^^
finally have time to sit down to watch this run and i love this runner already time to follow her on twitch and twitter so i can keep up to date with her runs well done becks
I forgot how awesome the levels were. Not optimal from a 'playability' point of view maybe, but they were so extremely immersive and you really felt like you were navigating an actual maze full of secrets and magic...

I mean, technically Tomb Raider 2 hasn't any tomb in, Tomb Raider 3 has a bunch of locations but barely any tomb as well, The Last Revelation came back with tombs within Egypt, which was already done in this game, Chronicles were a bunch of Lara's past adventures, not necessarily tombs, and Angel of Darkness wasn't focused around many tombs either.
The glitch on Qualopec works because the old TR engine is made of cardboard and tape, essentially. The levels are just built out of uniform sized tiles that can be raised or lowered. All the triggers in the game depend on Lara stepping on a given tile. By skimming that corner, you avoid having Lara step on the tile the trigger to close the gates is on. Since the gates don't close, the game just presumes you've finished all the puzzles and triggers the end of the level.
Nice game, it goes pretty well with GDM. Didn't know Beckski93, she has amazing skills. Nicely executed, congratz. Great memories, it was quite amusing.

haha, 6 year old me made it to the cistern level and got stuck. Picked up again when 13 years old or so i think, and completed it all that time :p
