- Discover Dublin's charm as we explore second-hand, salvage, and antique shops around the capital city. Join me on a wander starting at Mac's Warehouse in Islandbridge Dublin 8, where unique finds and treasures await.
We'll then visit the Stephens Green art gallery for a dose of culture before wandering to Francis St. There, we'll explore O'Sullivan Antiques and the NCBI charity shop, where I find stunning antiques and some bargain treasure.
Back home, I'll share my thrifted haul and how I've styled it, proving that beauty knows no bounds. Join me on this adventure around the charity shops in Dublin, and please share your favourite places to thrift in the city in the comments section.

I just have to tell you ,after a busy tough day watching a video of you is pure joy...I realized that I can hear you smile in the parts where you did a voice over....you are so warm and bubbly....you are like a fresh breeze or a warm blanket...depending on the need....thank you for putting joy back into a mundane day❤
Aww this is so sweet ❤️thank you so so much! Means a lot to me xx
I feel exactly the same way!
Same!!!
Yes, it is so true. She is a breath of fresh air. I always leave her videos to the end. They make me feel happy ☺️
Me too. I went straight to you as I wanted an easy watch video 👍😍
'Could smell the poverty off me' 😂 that was hilarious Catherine and yes I've felt like that at posh antique shops too lol
haha, maybe I need to pretend to be rich x
7:53 card catalog- I’ve always wanted one of these! Could be used for jewelry, craft supplies, etc. our local library uses one for the seed catalog (free local seed exchange).
Also, I saw a Texaco sign - being from Texas, that warned my heart! Than you for the visit to the salvage yard!
Heaven. Every cage lamp anything mech the vélocipède table. So awesome. Drawers. Vitrines. Metal.
6:23 the encyclopedias really brought back happy memories, before GOOGLE that is the way we learned about all the things. I spent many hours as a kid “ googling” things I wanted to know more about and things I didn’t even know I wanted to know about!😊
Agh yes, the original Google xxx
I love that fireplace too
9:21 Fireplace surround…stunning!
Yes! LOVE x
Ooooo Catherine , thanks for taking us along, I loved that sign at 0:59 ... the Fire Place with pretty tiles !! at 6:03 I loved that Wee Grotto x The Dinner set at 14:10
7:56 that cabinet with all the little drawers. There was a nicer one at the beginning.
10:28 love all the urns
Thank you Catherine for taking us with you. Wow some very nice pieces of furniture. 👍👍♥️
Thanks for watching! x
Your visit to the antique store had me drooling over the leaded glass windows…especially the triangular ones. Thanks for sharing your sweet, upbeat thoughts and wanderings. Your joyful demeanor is much appreciated.
Those glass windows were so pretty! X
Catherine I’m so happy you bought those candle holders, I thought they were perfect.
Great little video. ❤❤❤ loved seeing kitty in the box!
Hello! I’ve just recently discovered your channel and I’m completely smitten! Gardening, thrifting, cats…kindred spirits! You are a joyful breath of fresh air!! Cheers from Highland Lake, Alabama USA!
7:03 the unit I love how it looks 😊
As always, a pleasure to watch your videos! Too many things on my wish list in that store! 1.04 mirror, 1.12 painting, 4.19 tap, 5.20 lamp, 6.05 fireplace, 7.16 floor lamp, 10.28 urns. I could probably add at least 20 other things that I only got a glimpse of.
6:38 I loved the 3 pieces of velvet furniture, a sofa and two chairs not sure if they were gray or a lavender color. I loved several other things too though!
There's a lovely walk from the war memorial gardens up to Chapelizod along the Liffey. Worth a visit another day.
Thanks for letting me know that, I go to a girl who does acupuncture in Chapelizod and sometimes love a walk afterwards to clear the head x
@@DaintyDiaries War memorial gardens are formal gardens. But keep walking up the path along the river and its a straight path up to Chapelizod is just a footpath / cycle track along the river. There can be quite a bit of rowing along the river certain days which I enjoy watching. If you're coming from Chapelizod, the path is on the north side of the river, with the entrance on St Lawrence road, after you pass all the houses.
That was so much fun thanks taking us along with you 😊
Love the candleticks.
10:29 Garden urns!
06.04 lovely fireplace, wuth beautiful tiles. I'd love to spend time walking around there. Love your posts. Have a hreat day
I saw three items that I would love to find. They are all similar cabinets with lots of small drawers. My favorite at 5:46, another at 7:13, and one at 7:53. Thanks for taking us along.
7.30 the stunning glass lampshade with dragon flies
6:37 the 3 pce suite. love love love
10:29 the concrete pot, urns & pedestals!
Love all the old brick too - garden paths for miles!
I always love looking in antique shops because you never know what you might find! though sometimes they're a little pricey 🥰
7-57 The Cabinet with all the drawers ❤ Thank you for showing us all those gorgeous pieces of furniture X
7:53 apothecary cabinet...saw several but this one is my fave.
I also love the cabinets with lots of drawers. Particularly fancied ones at 7:00 and 7:53. Really liked the metal one with wood drawers. You have a knack for video and photos!
6:33 I love that white leather love seat but fell in love with so much! And the bricks. And the copper tea kettles.
2:47 those gates would make the perfect entrance into my garden! ❤❤❤
7.53 just love this it would be perfect in my sewing room
Watching from Indiana in the USA. What a wonderful delight to shop with you today!
Your second hand shops definitely beat the ones here in Eastern Melbourne, Australia! I love the candlestick holders, so lovely.
For a dream purchase…14:34 those yellow and blue vases. For a realistic one, I am always up for more gardening books! 17:30. Excited for your book release! ❤
I spy with my little eye 7.55 (cabinet), 9.19 (the little fire surround), 9.53 (the stepped wooden planter, strawberries anyone?), 10.29 (all the urns), and the most gorgeous kitten at 18.25.
Love those old wooden doors, the concrete urns, the tiled fireplace that you liked and at 4:46 the beautiful ornate gilded mirror with the marble topped table as it looks very French country to me. Thank you for taking us along on this cold day 30 F degrees here in the states and we got snow yesterday, in April! Unbelievably cold for this time of the year. 🍀❤☃🤗
20-24, the china cabinet, and the fireplaces, ❤
07:55. Those little drawers I would store my seed collection in. I have LOTS of seeds. Lol
Oh they were be IDEAL for the seeds! 😍
715 rooster painting. Not sure why but I like it!
That would be a fun way to spend an afternoon. At 7:57 the card catalog 🤩, life goal is to acquire one. Thank you for taking us thrifting today.
LOVE the card catalogues x
Sso many things I could enjoy! I'd have a blast there.
7:15 Rooster painting stuck out to me.
I really loved you bringing us to the charity shops and the Warehouse Catherine. I loved the same fireplace u did it reminds me of my home grown up and I love 7.17 the lamp
The fireplaces were beautiful! X
2:53 the painted door knobs are so sweet 5:04 the tricycle is so cute 5:47 nice kettles & apothecary chest 13:49 sweet art gallery 14:54 stunning antiques 15:15 you’re so funny, “I think she could smell the poverty on me.” 😮😂 18:32 very cute jar
Loving your choices! X
Such an Irish thing to do... light a candle ❤
O k i'm here in america. I have completely redone my home by either family donating what they no longer needed or hitting all the charity shops. I know what you mean about the big commercial second hand stores here, G.W. But they have become extremely pricey as they know people are hunting. I have taken your advice and stumbled upon a few fantastic small run church charity shops.I have found awesome awesome finds and I am so pleased that the way my home is coming together. Love your channel have a great day
07.07 & 07.54 (10.04 how could I not) Love a salvage, yard , I used to work for an old Radiator cast iron restoration company & there was some beautiful ornate ones but I’m the narrow school & 2 column radiators looked amazing when restored ,one day he came back from buying reclaimed doors & there’s a couple of doors coming ,& some fireplace &tiles turned out he bought the company ,
Ever since working there I’ve always kept a tape measure in my hand bag
i know what you mean about parallel parking specially when you get out and realise you could’ve parked a
bus in the space. 😂😂
Warmest thanks, Catherine 💗🌿💗
Wait, 10:04, love the radiators!
5:48 the library catalogue cabinet 😍 I have no need for a library catalogue cabinet and nowhere to put a library catalogue cabinet but oooh. This is why I can't go to these places. I bought a bureau from a place that is part auction house part sale room and had to walk through wearing blinkers 😂
I’m the same 😂 no use for some things but I just need them in my life!!
@@DaintyDiaries thank you for allowing me to safely browse! That was so much fun and I'm enjoying reading all the other comments to see what everyone else has an eye on 😊
9:22 fireplace ❤
Excellent choice ❤️
Great video. Second time watching here 😊. I think its gas I had already took a screen shot of something I liked before you even mentioned it. Around 1.27/1.28 mark. I been hoping to get my hands on some sort nest of tables and upcycle with picture frame. To display nature things like dried flowers, conkers acorns, memories and stuff. Totally inspied from tables I seen in Avoca years ago with pretty things under the glass. Everything is gorgeous, love a montage of pretty things.
Myself and my mother use to get the train in on Saturday to Waterford and we would have a half an hour before the shops would open so we use to go to the church light the candles for everyone that we knew that was not well or gone. Then to a tea room that was open at 8.30am. Very nostalgic. My Granny has those switches and also sockets with the round pins. There is a modern socket for the washing machine 😅 Love love the white garden chairs 17.02 ❤
My choice was very early on at 1.04, the ornate large mirror, that could come home with me any day of the week 😀
Love when you take us thrifting, some beautiful items. I'll have to get down to have a nosey myself, charity shops up North aren't up to much craic 🙄
Im sorry but i couldn't make a decision, i loved 90% of it all. ❤❤
I spotted a jar from Musslemans Apple Butter, that apple farm is here in Michigan! They still produce and sell apple sauce etc. here.
Someone must have carried some back home from a visit 😄.
Thanks for showing us round, I wish we had one near me. 7.55 the set of drawers beautiful 😊
Wow so many treasures at the salvage yard, I would had asked prices on the planter urns at 10:28 so pretty. “They could smell the poverty “ 😂 I don’t mind vintage but some antiques creep me out!
5.50 the 'apothecary' chest! But also so many other treasures!
The brown wooden gates at 6:54! ❤
06:53 the round drum-like cabinet with fluted doors (looks MCM). Looks as though it's meant to go through the wall. Oooh, and 07:58, the card file cabinet. Also 08:13 there's a sort of Art Deco window at the very right of the screen.
I could spend all day in that salvage yard, dreaming of building a greenhouse out of old windows and doors. The concrete urns and pedestals at 10:30 and the bird baths at 16:43 were some of my favorites, but there were so many interesting things to see!
Oh yes! A greenhouse with those windows! X
I have a few of the stoneware pots which came from my father in law's bakers and confectioners shops he used to get mincemeat and jam in them they are great for kitchen utensils and look lovely with flowers in too I also have a large one made by Doulton Lambeth 😊
10:29 - those big cement urns! 😮 Normally when I go to salvage yards I like to go through all the hardware first. Vintage hooks, ornate doorknockers, and fun knobs and handles for cabinets are my jam.
You have a strategy that’s great!!
7:53 the library catalogue card drawers, that takes me back 😊
I like the big Irish Stout sign and the apothecary medicine cabinet
Very cool!!
I love all the stained glass items, I would love to have some in my house :)
@ 7:14 the popcorn cabinet lol, so much fun Catherine
So cute. 🍿
Hey girl, Hope you are doing well. I love auntquit shopping as well. Never know what you may find and the history behind it. My favorite thing was the pictures 16.24.
06:58 the Tiffany lamp 💛
Hi Catherine! I just pre-ordered your new book hoping for a signed copy. I bought your first book but was too late in getting a signed copy. 🙄 My bad! 😂
I love your creativity, DIY’s, your silly kitties, and your sense of humor. Can’t wait to get the book!
Cheeky thumbs up!!! 👍🏻😉🍷🥰🙏
Hello my love! if the pre order was with Eason's then it will be signed xxx
Thank you for your support! X
There were to many lovely items to choose from. What a fun game though. 💖
I loved seeing what everyone’s favourite pieces are! 😍
I have always wanted a set of drawers like the one shown at 7.57. But alas I am in TX and wont be in Dublin any time soon. Love your videos and can't wait for your second book!
8:27 I loved that long stainless steel sink! 4:19 Also that gold faucet and 2:40 light switches!
The gold tap was bargain too! 🚰
❤️all of the copper!!
I would be so poor at the end of that trip, love antiquing and thrifting. Can’t wait for your book to arrive, not sure how long the journey to Canada will be but I’m looking forward to it!
7:54 cabinet with all the little drawers. Looks like office cabinet ☘️💕
7.54... 10.30 some georgeous things...
4:48 the huge mirror and ? Dressing table or hall table. Very french looking. Beautiful...just need a chateau to put it in!
7:55 ❤
For a minute there I thought your kitty was going to knock down your green vases. 😁
She just wanted that box 📦 😁😁
Don't underestimate people I learned early. The castle owner could come in wearing old workers full of concrete blotches, hair full of dust and he owned millions. He was perhaps repairing something? He remembered if you looked down your nose to him. He is the one that told me money can't buy you love. 😉
Hello Ms. Catherine that was a huge 2nd hand store... I love it ♥️ nice pick love the candle holder I always light a candle at my altar every morning. Also beautiful Grotto we make a wish every time we light a candle.
I love that you light a candle x
7:57-7:59…the cabinet with drawers 😀
So much to look at❤Thank you for the Tag along 😊
Loved the apothecary cabinet at 7:55 and the fireplace mantles right after, but that lack one with floral tiles was gorgeous 😊
Yes, those floral tiles were my favourite! X
05:04 that trike bike caught my eye. Also the red chair beyond it. Oh I could use that one. 15:19 cream Anne? chair. I have a similar one but very run down that needs a fix up
I love salvage yards. We had a fantastic, somewhat famous one in Atlanta, Georgia that closed about 30 years ago. A crying shame. That place had it all!😔😢😭
Oh nooo that’s such a shame!! Hopefully some replacements have popped up since?
@@DaintyDiaries No! Which makes me so sad.
Thank you for the wonderful video!!! I’m leaving sunny Florida USA for dreamy Ireland on the 21st. I’m definitely going to a charity shop two.
The earthenware jar is the same as the one in my kitchen 😊 it was my grandmothers and it was always used for salt, (back in the 1930’s) We had a really huge one that got broken, don’t think they’re worth a fortune, but I hope you love yours as much as I love mine
Hello from Louisiana! Favorites from your wander in Dublin: 3:30 blue and white pfeffer containers and glass bud vase, 4:49 two dark wood and mirror display or buffet, 5:43 tall copper coffee pot, 6:00 copper basket, 6:03 mantle with floral surround, 8:17 pair of oval mirrors, 8:43 madeleine baking pan, 10:06 kitten with black mask and white neck, 10:19 Pierce No 7 - I need to include this in a painting, 13:59 hutch and set of china, 15:33 arm chair, book case and small chest, 19:26 Heart & Home. Thanks for a lovely vlog!
Excellent choices! You were definitely paying attention x
❤ the furnitures!!! 😍😍😍
That mirrored window thing at 3:08! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
LOVE x
Enjoyed your voiceover 😊 brought smile to my face as usual. Looking forward to my pre order 🙀😻
yay, I am in the warehouse on Monday, its so exciting! X
9:39 a room full of settees!
6.46 the two beautiful floral upholstered chairs ❤
LOVE the fabric x
The cockrell painting
I'm so glad I found you! I'm buying a house soon and I'm planning on a cottage theme/granny core aesthetic and I needed ideas! Not only do I love thrifting, planning to redo the garden, but this is also all in Ireland. Love that coincidence. Also looking for more thrift/salvage stores so this really helped me a lot. New subscriber here!
Aw welcome, thanks for subbing, best of luck with the house move, its a tough market, so be proud of yourself x
I would have chosen loads of stuff in the first one! In the posh antiques shop I surprised myself by recognising two ceramic vases from Seville, the ones that have got Betica and No8Do ( there's a good story behind this word. Maybe fun to Google it 😉) on them (14:32 more or less). I feel like that in those shops. xxx
