Made a few zero clearance inserts in my day but dumb- ass- me never thought of using the fence to hold the insert down when I raised my blade through the insert? Nice video!
Thanks! Gotta make some of these. Had the saw grab a piece from me today while trying to add a dado groove in the edge of a 3/4” door POP! sucked half underneath and threw the rest around... glad no fingers! Scared me enough to consider a new saw as there are huge gaps around the blade and not very flush but figured id see about buying or making something. This looks perfect...0 clearance! Thanks.
I appreciate this vid among others out there, because I don’t have a router table running flush cut trim bits and rabbet bits. Your method works around that missing tool. What was that material you used for the lower section? thanks
That's funny, I think it's easier to align the plate that way. My Craftsman saw is from the 60's. Probably what yours is too. Mine is a 113.29903 and I have all the paperwork if you don't. More than willing to share.
The tabs on mine aren't threaded and the insert is not leveled to the table top. Time to start hacking. Always make a few while you're at it because they do wear down due to blade wobble over time..

I find that I have a lot of dumbass in my work these days. Good thing no one can hear me with I'm in the shop. (Still in search of the straight line)
@@FishinBob I am guilty as well! Thanks for the tip!

My skil 3410 has a plate that is only 3mm thick. Would this still be a good idea?

The screws for alignment on my grandpa's 113 I interited are on the actual insert. Makes it annoying lol
