  • Hey guys, Lisa here! If you didn’t already know, I am super frikin excited to share that I’m writing a book! To be the FIRST to get sneak peeks about my book and other exclusive content go to: lisabilyeu.com/ and be sure to sign up for my newsletter.
Confidence, strength, and how to carry yourself with conviction. Are you looking to awaken an inner confidence that will empower you to fully take on any challenge in life? On this episode of Women of Impact, Lisa Bilyeu sits down to speak with five badass women including Evy Poumpouras, Mally Roncal, Elle Russ, Roxy Saffaie, and Eve Torres Gracie on confidence and ways you can develop it inside you. These women are experts on putting confidence into action. They discuss why you need to walk with strength, how to develop a commanding voice, why you shouldn’t rely on your looks for confidence, how to let negativity fuel you, why you need to be authentically yourself, and the power of surrounding yourself with badass women.
    SHOW NOTES:
Walk With Strength | Evy discusses the importance of carrying yourself with strength. [2:49]
Your Voice | Evy shares how to convey strength and to speak with conviction. [4:33]
Looks | Mally shares why you shouldn’t let your appearance influence your confidence. [6:22]
Negativity as Fuel | Elle shares how to handle nay-sayers and let it fuel you. [12:48]
Confidence | Elle reveals how to handle negativity when still developing confidence. [17:46]
Be You | Roxy shares why you should always be rooted in your truly authentic self. [19:45]
Turn It Up | Roxy discusses what it means to turn up the volume on yourself in life. [21:16]
Awareness | Roxy reveals the power of being self-aware and journaling. [23:21]
Surround Yourself | Eve shares why you should surround yourself with badass women. [28:25]
    QUOTES:
“My success in standing my ground wasn’t really about my physical strength, it was about my mental conviction. I had to speak with confidence to make sure those who heard my message heard it clearly the first time and when I did act, I had to do it so in a way that ensured it would not be mistaken for weak or uncertain of my abilities.” [2:21]
“Are you going to allow their opinion of you to dictate your success?” [18:09]
“When you say, “I trust myself,” you’re also saying that, “I got myself, I love myself, I’m willing to bet on myself, I don’t want to exist in this world as anything but myself, and let all that comes to me be the result of me being a hundred-percent myself.” [20:33]

I recently graduated nursing school at the age of 42 and my favorite advice from my instructor was to replace “fake it till you make it” with “try until you fly” ~ it’s okay to not feel completely confident as long as you practice your competence! Oftentimes the most confident person in the room is also the quietest ~ watch the person who has failed more than once and gotten back in the ring. Confidence holds hands with humble and resilient.

I want to be a nurse but I'm in Norway and have to learn language and raise my son and so much before school would begin for me... Thanks for motivating me I really needed to read this comment. I'm going to tell my son this when helping him with homework.

Stop sharing info with people who aren’t encouraging! Yes! Why is it that our family members seem to want to keep us small and misunderstood?

    • @thystein601
      @thystein601 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

I think it's because our family members think they know what is best for us; when in reality, they know what works for them, not necessary for us. They haven't taken the time or effort to know who we really are and what works/doesn't work for us! So they make us feel small to feel bigger and wiser. They misunderstand us because they haven't listened fully. They forget that experience is the best teacher. Without experience and mistakes, we cannot truly learn who we are and what works/doesn't work for us. They forget that we are unique and flawed by default. They forget that loving someone means giving the person grace to make mistakes to learn & grow and truly be there for the person when/if they fail :)

    • @Here_Today_
      @Here_Today_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It gives life time opportunity to grow and reflect. Family is less likely to quit on each other (I know that isn't 100% applicable). Family is the perfect place to practice discernment, forgiveness, gifting, and mercy; everything we all evidently need. I'm not sure if family wants to keep us small and misunderstood (yes, there are unfortunately exceptions), perhaps it's a longterm reflection/ projection opportunity. Can you imagine watching the relationship evolve into something rewarding once truth principles are applied? I'm sorry you've felt sad, I hear you. I hope you find the hope in a path that brings life and nurtures freedom. Peace.

I have suffered with lack of confidence social anxiety self conciousness since the age of 15/16 like the lady said I got up early to put in my heated rollers to do my Farah fawcette majors hair do I was in the “in crowd” but I did not belong their I was only there because of my looks but I was a really nice girl this carried on for the rest of my life I’m 56 I’m tired of living I just want to wake up and not be in fear fight or flight every morning I pray for confidence every night I’m so desperate 🙏🏻❤️🌹💡💡💡💡💡🔦

the fact that you are trying says so much about you. it doesn’t matter who you were in the past or what beliefs you've let in but what matters is the choice, the choice to be better than who you were yesterday and you have already made that choice so you are half way there. one thing that has really helped me in my journey to self confidence and self love is guided meditation and affirmations before sleeping . you can check out marisa peer's guided meditation on youtube, plus she has made lots of videos on confidence, she has surely helped me a lot in addition to the amazing women on this show and not to forget the ever so lovely LISA BILYEU.

A few months ago I made a decision to study hypnotherapy and marketing. I really want to help others with the same issues I have had. It's been so challenging,as I am on a self love journey. And I had never been completely confident in myself. I am putting myself outside my comfort zone with this, and it's actually making me feel better about myself. I am building my confidence. And starting to believe I can succeed.

I’ve since learned a lot of emotional regulation techniques but that grief that to my hair falling out. And it was so embarrassing. My hair has thickened in comparison and I’m so thankful it has. It’s still not back to normal but I still talk about it with people because I think it can happen to anyone.

Hi Lisa, firstly, thanks a lot for putting up these videos and I love how you juice up all the conversations by asking all the right questions to badass women which always conclude a better answer for everyone out here. Secondly, I really moved by the last point of "surrounding yourself with badass women" so, want to ask if you can recommend some of the useful online source where I can connect with all the working-hard badass women who have dreams, power, positivity to share personally. Because it's really difficult to find such a woman in the usual crowd these days which makes me feel left out (altough, I am more happy to be alone rather than being with someone who is off everything). I am an anti-social-media person and Covid situations making the matter more worse.

I get emotional too. I had a new friend, only knew him for a month or so. Well, his mom had passed. He never told me. He probably didn't want to replay it, explain it and live it again. He probably didn't want to put the heaviness on me or it was too fresh and personal at the time. Not entirely sure.
He later told me hanging out with me was his escape from that.
When he did finally slip, I instantly cried. I couldn't believe he was holding all of that in. I knew exactly how he felt. Feeling like your are DYING inside but acting like everything is just fine. I had done the same in my life with different things.

If you ever get the chance can you get someone who is an expert on how to deal with people who are mentally ill that you have to deal with or be around. Especially those that try to control you and are mentally ill. I have not been able to find any advice for this. I am confident been through hell and back but how do you survive people trying to control you that you cannot immediately get away from? How do you not take it personally?

It is very hard to be a woman of confident. People tend to hate you more. At 6mins when you mentioned about people passing judgement because you wear make-up well I’m that person and a man in my toastmasters club once gave a speech that women put on make to hide their insecurities and looked at me. Wanted to tell him that I put on make because I feel more ready to face the occasion, stupid.

The Universe hit me the hardest too. My child died by suicide at 17yrs old after being raped by 4males and a photo of her rape circulated. I rose up in ways I never would have imagined . #rehtaehparsonsishername when you get knocked to a puddle on the floor "get up"

I work with a lot of very confident people but they don’t have the competence to back it up with. Its a very strange thing. I believed for a long time they must be the best but then after awhile I realized that confidence was over compensating ...

Being alone is a gifted period of time to work on whatever it is you want to give your attention to. Relish it and use it to your best self!

But it seems to me that more I am who I truly am, I tend to remain without lover, friends & so on...That's why many times I am complacent & try plseaing. Happy that you answered. The people want authentic people but then, when they meet them they put them away.

@@dulcineeawashere1780 it can totally be challenging to find your tribe with whom you vibe, I hear you! I think being confident and authentic doesn't have to mean being alone. Loneliness can come from any myriad pile of unmet need. What's one thing you would love to do if you had friends who would do it right along with you?

Being confident does not mean you have to be alone. It means you know who you are, you live by your principles and you have a strong mind. A strong mind means that if your friends want you to do/say something that you do not like or think it is wrong, you won't do it, even if it means your friends won't like it. To know who you really are, being alone is important so you will not be influenced by others and you have time with yourself to think/reflect on your likes and dislikes and explore yourself. Feeling lonely is different from being alone. You can be alone and not feel lonely. If you can do this (being alone without feeling lonely) it means you enjoy your own presence and can fill your time with activities you love (figure this out first): reading, walks in nature, painting, studying, cycling, cooking/baking, just do creative things or be in places that spark creativity in you. You were born with qualities specific to you that can be useful and/or bring joy to others. Find them! Best wishes

There's a happy medium w the make-up, a little goes a long way and you don't want to look so different that you shock ppl w out it. These days women wear stage make-up and contouring and it's way too much and prevents you from being fully active, like you can't swim w fake eyelashes or yoga w hella jewelry on

I like you, but why are you always posting photos of you looking "tough"??
    I don't get it.
Why are you so freakin' intense?
You always seem so angry and aggressive.
Now you have a 'Bad *ss' shirt on.
What are you trying to prove??
    Relax a little bit.

Is that really her fashion style? It looks to me like she tries too hard to look "bad ass." She'd look more bad ass if she dressed like herself. Not trying to be judgemental but it's hard to take the advice from someone that dresses like that like it's not authentic to me

It's not about how SHE chooses to groom herself though. What we should focus on is the message. I dont understand how this was what stood out.

VC, it's not authentic to you. Her dress isn't about you. It's OK to explore any and all kinds of fashion; how else to you find what you truly like? Also, address LISA herself, she's the one your criticizing, talk to her directly. Why do you say you're "not trying to be judgmental but...."? It's flat out judgemental and drags us into it. Thanks but no thanks.

"It looks to me like she tries too hard to look bad ass"- no way to know why she dresses like she does unless you project your own insecurities onto her. Maybe listen to the message of the video

“Not trying to be judgmental” .... proceeds to go out of your way to be judgmental. Sounds like you’re projecting, go into your closet and put on the outfit you’ve always felt too self conscious to wear because clearly you hate to see people confident enough to do what they want
