Dr. Nicole it feels so uplifting and liberating to do self healing work . I come from a family of a single mom and 6 girls and your work guides us deeply in building the foundation for the next generation by going inward. As a 20 year old you've allowed me to be very concious of my actions. Gratitude and empowerment.
That question was so great - how do we stop using our childhood as an excuse. Being someone who went through a lot of crap in my childhood, I see and notice patterns of my behavior and belief system today that CLEARLY come from that. Trust issues for example is a common one and I get defensive cause I want to... NOT be a victim and stuff but, but, but... So the way I've started to think about it, is that -- Yes. Shit happened in my childhood. Yes it effected me a lot and yes, it is definitely the explanation to why I am the way I am today. That doesn't however, mean I need to just go on autopilot and accept and I can change if I want to. Change takes TIME and that's okay, but as long as I'm working on it, it's going in the right direction. I use the "and"(/yet) method a lot to make sense of myself and my reactions to stuff. "This and that happened in my childhood that's why I act/react/behave like this... AND I'm working on changing it (to become a better me that I like more)."
Hm...this is true. I think what helps me at least accept the present is that as soon as we leave our parent's house, that's when we become solely and absolutely responsible for ourselves. It helps me change or at least soften some of my behaviors.
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my TH-cam channel 5 months ago about self development. Now I have 307 subs and almost > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.
I just LOVE the way this conversation unfolded. The power of patterns. How they show up in the relationship with self through behavior, habit and choice. The early dynamic patterns we experienced in relationship with others shape the foundation of what is familiar to us. Making us grow an orientation with the customs and behaviors we were exposed to as a means of survival, protection and safety. We are all just trying our best by working from spaces we subconsciously know worked for us as children/in the past. May we all grow in loving awareness. We are all worth working with. Don't give up on yourself and we won't give up on each other. Much love!!
Good interview! Childhood Emotional Neglect - not just some big traumatic event - amounts to ongoing low grade training in how we operate, think, feel, act. We are in a hypnotic state through age 7, I recently learned. So think about how that subconscious training is embedded over such a long period. No wonder it's hard to overcome. We may be trained to not feel, to not make plans, to not think about what we want or need, to not take actions, to not have dreams, to not prioritize what we need or want in our lives... We may have been trained to just watch all those around us and keep them calm and happy, so we could survive. Changing our focus to include ourselves and changing our actions to include nurturing ourselves and believing in ourselves takes attention and ongoing effort that will be fruit over time. All expression of emotion or asking for what one needs or wants may have brought down the wrath of god (via a parental figure) during our childhood - or simply have been so ignored or mocked, routinely invalidated that way. We have to wake that up and as she says, hold space for ourselves. We have to be that encouraging, loving parent to ourselves inwardly, to be loving, kind, supportive multiple times a day. Not beating ourselves up for our challenges but lovingly promoting our dreams and caring about the inner child in ways she never got seems like a necessary step to heal that pattern. We have to reparent ourselves daily with kindness and encouragement, which means in most cases we need to learn how to do this. What does a loving parent say?
PTSD is actually post traumatic stress Response* We need to acknowledge & validate our way & learn new skills to Honor our Self. (We are not disordered. We grow)
Yes!! I've been following the holistic psychologist for a bit💃 and I wish I found her in my early 20's 😂👌 it would've saved me so much time, but thank goodness for her!🙏
She helps people to tap the power within themselves. There is no healing without empowering. She helps to look deep within and honour the lived human experience. She writes in such simple language that it seeps deep within.
I wish I didn’t remember my past. Remembering makes me frustrated and helpless with memories replayed feeling the lack of love and hurt. I’m learning a lot listening to people on TH-cam more than all the therapists I’ve spent a lot of money without results. I keep a distance from people. I am afraid to get close to myself. It feels painful and when I feel pain I see I need to distract myself with food or videos or tv going on all the time. If I stay in the moment I can have healthy relationships. I can ache for too much from people like she said or want to explain myself too deeply... like I’m doing here. This is another piece for my recovery. Keep seeking everyone.
Change your environment, friends if they don't respect your new self boundaries..I had to move away & stay away as I tried to renter family .Very common🙏❣️💪
After being in a male dominant industry for so long I for the first time understood what it meant to hear WOMEN voices and their experiences rather than clicking on a male speaker video the way I usually used to do. I craved hearing women knowledge experiences and advice and I am so glad I did click this video. Also I really appreciate how she didn’t give specifics and generalized and said not everyday you should go against your feelings. I love that thank you two wonderful ladies for this conversation
This interview is INCREDIBLE. There is SO much valuable information here and Nicole really breaks it down so well. She has really done the work for herself and had a great understanding of what we experience as humans holding trauma, repeating patterns and living life on auto-pilot. She really is careful with her language really drilling in exactly what it happening to us when we are experiencing these patterns and that we really are capable of great change within ourselves. It's not going to be easy, by any means, but we can do it guys! Lisa is awesome, as well. The conversation flowed so well! I think everyone in the world needs to see this interview.
This is the first time I've seen her in a long-form interview like this and the content and her ability to convey it is even more wonderful than her short videos. Just so much wisdom here!! Thank you, Dr. Nicole LePera!!
OMG! SOOOOOO happy you brought Dr. Nicole LePera over here again! I am just thankful for everything you do, Lisa, but also LePera for sharing and healing us all in our own lliving room!
Dr LePeras ability to give language to and define the adult connection and behavioral consequences of childhood trauma have helped open my mind to a new concept of coping and being kind to myself. The three things children need was so enlightening. I can’t wait to watch her videos! Thank you again Women or Impact 🐛🦋🙏💕
Wow this guest is so emotionally intelligent. She seems very grounded and extremely resilient to heal her wounds. Beautiful interview. Lisa is a fantastic listener and interviewer.
She's one of my FAVORITE psychologist ever and honestly her works changed me in so MANY ways. I'm not even close to where I want to be, but keeping reminding myself through all what she wrote/shared is definitely helpful to become a better person and HEAL myself. Thank you for this show Lisa!
Powerful... Hold space for people's future selves. I felt like weeping. I have been trapped in the past... encounters/behaviours. Thanks so much for being so vulnerable and sharing so much of your personal story.
I finally got to the point that I can connect authentically with others and then something unexpected happened. I began to change. Then I came to the sad realization that the relationships I had were conditional to me remaining who I was. In order for me to remain authentic, I FELT I would have to go off on my own to avoid being rejected for the allowing myself and my values to change. I bowed out before I could get rejected. Now I am in a position that I’m healed enough to not want inauthentic relationships but not healed enough to face potential rejection while desperately longing to have connection.
I should not be surprised by synchronisity but I am :) "When the student is ready, the teacher will come." So much of what Nicole is saying - yeah - thank you *hugs*
I'm only 18 minutes in and I SWEAR!!!!!!!!! NICOLE is speaking my life!!!! And it is hard for family to understand why your memory is not as great. They feel you dont value your experiences with them or that you're trying to avoid conversing with them. And it gets frustrating for everyone. And that very fine line of "NO A-HA" moment but that gradual effect. Omg this is brilliant. 😫😫
Wow thank you I love this interview! The timing this incredible! I just reestablished ties with my family after cutting them out for two years. I set a boundary, told my mother to stop comparing me to my dad, a very very very bad thing. She said the world isn’t perfect and it doesn’t have boundaries. I calmly responded healthy relationships do. It’s still rough but it’s on my terms now. I really appreciate the dose of understanding!
Lisa, I am only 7:17 in to this video and wow! I haven’t watched your videos in about a year. This is my second one in two days, and I just have to say the way you are conducting your interviews are 1000% times more engaging. I can feel the confidence and ease you feel sitting up there and chopping it up with some of the most incredible people in the world! Amazing. Okay, now back to watching 🤟🏽
Once again an amazing episode thank you so much ❤️ I’m a French psychologist just beginning my career and I really hope i can help spreading this powerful wisdom in my country. We really need more women like you all over the world !!
Wow the time flew by, what a wonderful interview Lisa. So much shared that will be so helpful to so many. Lisa thank you for having Dr. LePera back,. Thank you Dr. LePera for your daily text and incredible work.
I do not understand the hate that she gets from the therapist community. Mental health research is relatively scarce and not everyone has access to it. Especially in countries where it is extremely difficult to find a qualified therapist. There are so many ways to heal ourselves at various points in our life. Yes, traditional therapy is a great option but it may work for some and may not work for some. I personally have had horrible luck with therapists and I stuck around for a while to give each of them a chance. Once I started finding things for myself and learning them through Nicole and her work, I started healing much better. I am so grateful and I cannot wait to get your book and gift it to all my loved ones! This is the kind of awakening that we all needed, away from all the traditional bs that only feeds pharma corporations. For those who have a problem with her, please work on finding funding for mental health research and brining affordable mental health care to developing countries, then we'll talk. Nicole, you are amazing! Thank you for all that you do!
This is exactly what i needed to hear. Im 24 and i feel so disassociated from myself. I don't know myself well enough. Been dealing with depression and almost constant anxiety. Life feels almost unbearable for me. But im going to therpay this week and im hoping ill get back to my good ole self and feel abit better about myself and learn abit more.
This is in incredible... I used to feel whole like what she's describing.. then I became broken.. since then I've needed wholeness so much.. I've been so broken. This really helped me so much x
I wish so badly this was available in other languages! Nicole is such an amazing psychologist and person! Also Lisa does a great and smart job, you can tell she did a previous good work before the interview.
Understanding this has helped me so much!! Couldn't make happen what I knew to do until I saw the subconscious fears and wounds that wanted to be seen and healed. Tried so hard to fix myself, only to realize my consciousness was waiting for me to be present with my wounds...and from there I automatically started acting in healthier wholer ways without having to 'strive' to be different.
Love her! Her work is so important and has helped so many, my self included, and continues to do so❤️❤️❤️ Can’t wait for her book to come out this upcoming spring!
I have actually just cried. Ives had CBT twice etc but this totally makes sense, my childhood wasn’t the best, I only got recognition doing things to please family members and my entire adulthood has been trying to get recognition by going above and beyond for others, this has lead to one sided friendships and abusive relationships. Thank you 🙏🏼
I absolutely LOVED this. Dr. Nicole was so thorough and deep with her explanation and Lisa is adorable!! This gave me so much psychological and spiritual insight. Thank you for this!
Thank you very much for this interview i anxiously watched the whole thing and took notes. From minute 42 of this interview to minute 44 and about 10 seconds when nicole stops talking is the greatest couple minutes of advice i've ever heard ty :)
I loved this interview so much, she spoke to me, thank you for doing this Lisa! I had a traumatic very abusive childhood, my mother has always been extremely abusive, until today, she damaged me so much, AND? This AND she explained was powerful to me and the trauma bond realization, just wow!
Lisa can you please do a show on self care. I see many women say they want a partner, that they are lonely and are grief stricken from former relationships but I see that they are not doing enough self care, they are jumping from one bad situation to another-that they are continuing to surround themselves with toxic people. Some need to take time to do little things, like hygiene, take care of their hair, skin and exercise-because those practices show that you care about yourself-and when you care about yourself, it helps you feel good about yourself, and when you feel good about yourself, you begin to attract people on your level. I see too many women just making negative angry or sad statements not taking the time in their lives to spend at least a year working on their own self care and well being and processing and working on their mental care and personal goals and then that causes negative abusive persons to be attracted to them. I once had a friend who tried to set me up with a jerk on campus and I actually said out loud to her, "I'd rather be alone than with someone like that" and it was worth it for me to do that, to spend time taking care of myself and putting myself first and setting boundaries and making sure toxic people were not in my life, because it led me to my husband, who treats me with kindness and respect and is my best friend. I want to see others have a person who loves them and treats them with respect and that journey to finding that special person begins with self care, self love, setting boundaries-and not allowing just any jerk in your life and being willing to be alone rather than someone that just fills your time.
Very meaningful content for one to o understand the internal work each one needs to do to find a new version which is more self actualising and authentic. Tks Lisa and Nicole for a such a powerful video 🙏
A friend of mine has recommended this book to me. I bought it, but haven't had the space to read yet. I nearly fell from my chair when she mentioned the book title after I was absolutely blown away by this introspection and perspective to trauma-healing. Time to read that book, I guess. Amazing interview as always.
Awe! I love this channel and the combo of Lisa & Nicole 😍... another great video. You ladies share some amazing insights everytime I'm watching. Thanks so much
I started a grand makeover in my life. There was a day last week after an uplifting moment of understanding, when I felt like 'wow I'm on my way' And then... Something happened. Negative feelings hit me hard. For 4 days. First day I was just feeling like 'meh'. Second day: meh, still bad. Third day: that's not okay, i have to change that. But I haven't, so I started to feel bad about feeling bad. Fourth day even worse, but I decided: I wont feel like this all my life! I have just experienced some improvement! So this means I can improve day by day, week by week, month by month! Fck, I will stand up again and again! Today is day 5. I pulled out yoga (for my body), meditation (for my mind) and affirmations (for my faith) of my counter. And then reminded myself what are the tools I started to use in order to rewrite myself. Your videos are also one of my tools. I was thinking on day 3 and day 4, maybe I am self-sabotaging. Now here I am learning about this. I'm gonna make notes. Thank you Lisa for all of these videos. They are extremely helpful for me. With your help I got to know Patrice Washington and the 6 pillars of wealth. Big changes are possible, we only have to use the tools. Keep up the good work. Hugs, Bogi❤️💖
Thank you giving us this valuable information, to me its very important thing to become a best version of myself, to love every deepest scar, Thank you you're doing amazing job 💓
such a great video!!! thank you both for producing this amazing and helpful piece of information. I have been on a journey of self-realisation, which it is a long, and ongoing process. After listening to this interview I feel like a few of the grey areas became more clear to me. THANK YOU
Such an important conversation. It is vital to look at the ways that our body is patterned as well because that is the basis and foundation for our thought patterns. We have to change the way we move in order to uncover the the ingrained patterns in our minds. The subconscious's language is movement...it resides in the body. Repatterning thoughts and behaviors begins in the body and movement.
Simply put,I love the content put out on this channel, each video I've watched has influenced me in a positive way to being more in tune & enlightened with my current reality ,also coupled with a strong feeling of motivation to always wanting to do & be better.😊
Thank you for your videos! I just found your channel and already feel so inspired! I was wondering if maybe anyone can recommend a particular episode for inspiration for a lazy perfectionist who starts something but when things don't go their way quits without following through. Thank you so much would really appreciate it!

So true! Lisa is amazing and always makes the guests feel so welcome and opens such a nice space for them to shine.

Nicole should be a permanent guest haha. I love these interviews. They converse so well together and it’s easy to digest.

Nicole’s work has helped me a lot with my healing journey. I loved this interview💓
Love your channel Lisa! You do such a wonderful job with all your interviews and ask the right questions !! Kudos !
That "and" mentality blew my mind, I really needed that, thank you so much

Understanding this has helped me so much!! Couldn't make happen what I knew to do until I saw the subconscious fears and wounds that wanted to be seen and healed. Tried so hard to fix myself, only to realize my consciousness was waiting for me to be present with my wounds...and from there I automatically started acting in healthier wholer ways without having to 'strive' to be different.
Love her! Her work is so important and has helped so many, my self included, and continues to do so❤️❤️❤️ Can’t wait for her book to come out this upcoming spring!
Such a powerful conversation. Thank you for bringing this forward.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Journaling, yoga, Meditation and Aerobic excercises are Great activities to our Mind like we do brush our teeth and taking shower everyday..
Love this, it's so helpful - thank you both ❤️
Dr. LePera is the best. Thank you for this.
39:00 holding space for our Family
This made me cry so much. As someone who identifies as a type 4w5 this resonated and meant so much to me. Goosebumps and tears. Wow.
I’m the helper adult . Finding broken people and trying to help them like I wanted to help my mother through my childhood.
I loved this interview so much, she spoke to me, thank you for doing this Lisa!
I had a traumatic very abusive childhood, my mother has always been extremely abusive, until today, she damaged me so much, AND?
This AND she explained was powerful to me and the trauma bond realization, just wow!
My score on the aces is off the chart
I love this woman such much! I wish I could talk to her one day!
oh my GOSH I am so excited for this!!! been watching older interviews on the channel and I LOVE Dr Nicole - what a gift!
This is so good to hear am happy for you
Very meaningful content for one to o understand the internal work each one needs to do to find a new version which is more self actualising and authentic. Tks Lisa and Nicole for a such a powerful video 🙏
Yasss this episode is everything! Two power houses
A friend of mine has recommended this book to me. I bought it, but haven't had the space to read yet. I nearly fell from my chair when she mentioned the book title after I was absolutely blown away by this introspection and perspective to trauma-healing. Time to read that book, I guess. Amazing interview as always.
Geez you guys are brilliant, thank you
Awe! I love this channel and the combo of Lisa & Nicole 😍... another great video. You ladies share some amazing insights everytime I'm watching. Thanks so much

What a beautiful episode! Simply want to thank both of you for this conversation.
I started a grand makeover in my life. There was a day last week after an uplifting moment of understanding, when I felt like 'wow I'm on my way'
And then...
Thank you! This video was fabulous! Such great content and tools !

Great interview I thank you for that very enlightening...
such a great video!!! thank you both for producing this amazing and helpful piece of information. I have been on a journey of self-realisation, which it is a long, and ongoing process. After listening to this interview I feel like a few of the grey areas became more clear to me. THANK YOU
That’s so great to hear! Glad this resonated ❤️
I needed to listen to this today. Thank you 💗
