    I am just about finished building one of these. This video was super helpful! For those wondering about the bottom slides, I found them being called pantry slides, and specifically I used KV 8000 slides.

      Did you add the top slide as well for stability? Since there's no gravity load on it, would that be a standard center-mount slide inverted 180 degrees? or a single side mount rotated 90 degrees?

    • @ryanhennessy
      @ryanhennessy 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dmg029 I'm not an expert, but I just used a regular drawer slide and it's been working fine.

    Such a good idea to pre-install the sliders with a piece of plywood to screw to !
    Now I will finally decide to do my pull-out ! This was going to be the part that was going to be a pain ...problem solved ! Thank you!

    Nice work. I like the tip of setting the glides on a separate base inside the cabinet. Some guys set the whole unit on wheels which I see as really cumbersome and prone to future issues.

    My daughter has this right next to her fridge and it's wonderful! Hers doesn't have adjustable shelves but does have side rails on each shelf preventing things from falling over and off the shelves. We have two dishwashers so I'm thinking of taking one out and making these in its place.

  • @dannyixoye262
    @dannyixoye262 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Nice work. However, speaking from experience of raising 7 children you may want to consider putting 2-3 inch rails on both sides of the shelves in the pantry to keep things from sliding and falling off the shelves when little toddlers open the doors....

    • @lunatik9696
      @lunatik9696 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Came here to say similar.
      Big kids (over 30) may need assistance to keep from knocking things off too. :)

    Nice video Ron. What is the red colored clamp you are using in the corners in conjunction with the Kreg clamps?

    • @MarkEichin
      @MarkEichin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did some digging, apparently "Jet Jointer Clamps" or "Spring Jointer Clamps" (searching for "corner clamps" won't find them.) The look a lot easier to use if you already trust your corners; most modern corner clamps force a precise 90° angle, but are more cumbersome, I've never seen on that you can just slap right in like he did.

    Hi Ron,
    I have a pantry project. I decided to go with the pull out similar to yours. The space is deep and perhaps a little wider than the one you built. Instead of two side outs, I'm going with one. How did the slides hold up over time with the added weight of a full pantry?

    Nice project. Can you advise what type of drawer slides you used, including what weight rating they have. Thanks.

  • @Rody_le_Cid
    @Rody_le_Cid 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    it looks great but my main concern is that, since the roll out shelves have no back board to them, things will probably slide off at some point, and if/when they fall off the shelf while the drawer is snugly in its recess, the flour or bag of spices will fall inside, in between the two pull out drawers, possibly staying there unnoticed and getting torn open.
    I think it would be a good idea to put at least a back-panel on each pullout drawer so you can prop up your stuff onto it and minimize things falling inside the recessed cabinet.
    You won't have access to things from both sides, but at least it will minimize risk of falling.

    Im doing a cargo trailer conversion to an RV and am putting one of those in beside the entrance door... are those slides just drawer slides? have read that it might not be a good idea to use with heavy weights, I will only be able to put one slide on the bottom and one on the top.. if you have a name or part number that would be great.. and great work, been watching for years

    there is only a few videos about pullout pantry and this I love!!! I have my kitchen all ready for it but I am so afraid to do this by hand I dont have big tools and so far my drawers are all uneven, I cannot even imagine doing this project! I am panicking, question: when you did the pullout, did you put the top and bottom at the top and bottom to the front and back because of the slide and the weight? if I dont have the kind of hardware that you had can I install a couple of sides slides? and if I do, do I change the bottom and top of the pullout to the inside direction? please help Mr Ron!!!!!!!!

    That was great! I would really love a pantry like that. Unfortunately, there just isn't an appropriate place. I'm considering adding this to my master closet though. Even though it is a small walk-in, I think something like this might actually add some very needed useable space. Hmmmm. I'm going to need my tape measure and masking tape (to map out the footprint) to sell this idea to my husband.
