I met Mr Wilton when I was a young girl. He was an old man by that time, but his zest for life was still apparent. He loved his animals more than people I think and he proudly showed off his dogs and their tricks to me. I then watched as he used his crutches to walk over to the pen that held his horse - ( It a long time ago, but the name was "tripple" or "tribble" and he said that it was one of many he named that way in his life. He told me that you must always use a profound sound in the name of any animal, - It is the sound that they come to, not the name.- He called the horse and I wondered what he intended on doing as he could hardly stand on his own, - how was he intending on getting on this horse? The horse walked over to his master and then slowly bowed down and basically lay flat on the ground. Mr Wilton then put down his crutches and slid onto the horses back. He commanded the horse to get up and it do so with the grace of a mother holding her newborn child. The respect show for his rider was something that amazed me and is still in my mind today. --- I never was the rider that my father wished for but the time I spent with him and Mr Wilton gave me snippets of insight and knowledge that most people will never know. He was an amazing man. My father and Mr Wilton are now buried very close to each other in Jillaby Cemetary NSW and I feel sure that my father would be very pleased that someone he respected so much is so near to him.
Hi Suzanne. Jim was my mothers uncle, my great uncle. Could you give me anymore information about where he is buried? 0435881846. I was living in North Queensland when he died and didn't attend his funeral but I would like to visit his grave.
The full video which includes J.D.'s display with his dogs is on youtube channel "MrRossallan". Wonderful to see that so many people are still interested in his achievements.
