In todays game market, Prototype 3 would actually have a really good chance. Still after 7 years, there is no game like Prototype. There is apocalypse based games with zombies and games where you can feel over powered as hell, but the lore and style is still something PT has it really unique. They even have a valid way to get Alex back without nobody really questioning it, you know, because he's a virus now. And Heller forgot that important fact when he left Alex' arms laying around. Edit: 6 years later, still no Prototype 3, RIP this franchise.

I've been playing Prototype almost every year since it first came out in 2009. I was just an 11 year old kid back then, so I didn't know that much about the story and didn't bother to finish it. I finished the story for the first time in 2010 and started to get more interested into the characters, the story arch, the setting etc. I completed it again in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2018, and each time I learned something new about the characters or the story. It's still haunting me to this day. A perfect game for what it tried to achieve.

The same thing happened to me my parents didn't want to buy it for me so i said fuck it and a year later i bought it myself and finally got it and for the running part its a lot of hard work but you eventually start to enjoy it the faster you get

Heller had his moments, but he was too angry and ignorant to actual be an enjoyable main character. Alex was calm and collected, it felt much cooler playing as someone who seemed to think about what he was doing.

If you really think about it, if you watch all of the web of intrigue targets, from start to finish then play the game again from start to finish realizing just how screwed up Alex‘s life has become when he realizes that he’s no longer human and how devalued everything becomes and even worse overall when he does end up leaving the New York zone just how hard life could be for him considering that all it takes is one mess up and he can end up starting another outbreak somewhere else in the world and that no matter what even if they find a cure it won’t work. It will kill him Also the fact, he will never be human ever again is enough to probably make a mango insane
The current state of the gaming industry doesn’t deserve a chance to make a Prototype 3. I’d rather wait until it heals and starts promoting more creativity and fun again.
Considering all the changes at Activision-Blizzard, I think there’s a chance this game could get a remake/remaster… I know it’s slim but I still have hope this gem of a game gets recognised again for its unique design and gameplay.

Not really, it was a shit game that didn't make sense, if mercer is the original then james trying to consume him would have just destroyed himself and mercer should have emerged not him there was no logic to the ending at all. Mercer was the virus and james was just a piece of that puzzle. I also dont buy james learning moves even mercer didnt know its just bs. mercer was the badass of the game and he should have been the player in the 2nd one not this random loud mouth douchebag that no one liked. There were so many plot holes and inconsistencys in the story that just made it unbelievably stupid.
Seeing as how they say the Blacklight virus turns you entirely into an amalgamous shapeshifting blob of sapient virus, I like to think that Alex Mercer just faked his death by feeding a lump of himself to James. Alex was able to keep his entire mind stored at the end of the first game inside just a tiny smattering of black virus residue after being nuked. He then regrew a body from that goop via feeding off nearby animals/people. Therefore, by letting James rip apart a body made of goop shapeshifted to appear human, all alex needs to do is get a single blob of his goop to safety and he can regrow, with James fully convinced Alex is dead. Additionally, we see James rip off both Alex' arms and carelessly toss them aside before "killing" Alex. So it's more than likely that Alex just regrew from those arms (or perhaps Alex safely hid a sample of his goop elsewhere and planned to fake his death from the very beginning). Either way, Alex not only could have survived, but almost certainly planned for the ending events of Prototype2 in order to fake his death, and go live in peace disguised as anyone he'd eaten who'd ever lived in NYC. After all, with so many millions dead in ways that couldn't possibly be tracked or observed, most if not all of Alex' victims/snacks could easily have survived the attack on NYC as far as anyone but Alex is concerned. So in the end, Alex is almost guaranteed to be living comfortably on some beach or in some city somewhere, with an entirely new start on life.
Now that Microsoft owns Activision, we could get it back though it may end up being Xbox exclusive which although would be annoying, I'd accept it if it's the only way it returns.
It really does have an epic, powerful feel to it? Like something's starting, or in the heat of the battle... I find these soundtracks really great to pace my writing to.
I had a dream about a [PROTOTYPE] 3! You play as Heller's daughter who was infected by Alex, and can choose to end the world or help save people, with a meter showing how much you are liked/disliked by the general public and military. Too bad it was just a dream...

Remember, the virus never dies. He just finds another host. Heller may have the powers, but he's not the virus. He can't infect or give powers to anyone. Now, if you wonder, the only reason Alex was able to consume Elisabeth Greene was because they are both viruses, not ordinary/less ordinary infected.

Alex lost his faith in humanity believing that humans only think about themselves and their self preservation, heller on the other hand went against this notion only wanting to save his daughter, thus the final fight was hinted to be nothing more than a test, also supporting this, aside from everything already stated, is ths fact that alex just let himself be consumed and the fact that he didn't regenerate even though he had enough biomass to make helled do a devastator that expanded throughout all of manhattan

Heller had his moments, but he was too angry and ignorant to actual be an enjoyable main character. Alex was calm and collected, it felt much cooler playing as someone who seemed to think about what he was doing.

If you really think about it, if you watch all of the web of intrigue targets, from start to finish then play the game again from start to finish realizing just how screwed up Alex‘s life has become when he realizes that he’s no longer human and how devalued everything becomes and even worse overall when he does end up leaving the New York zone just how hard life could be for him considering that all it takes is one mess up and he can end up starting another outbreak somewhere else in the world and that no matter what even if they find a cure it won’t work. It will kill him Also the fact, he will never be human ever again is enough to probably make a mango insane
The current state of the gaming industry doesn’t deserve a chance to make a Prototype 3.

Considering all the changes at Activision-Blizzard, I think there’s a chance this game could get a remake/remaster… I know it’s slim but I still have hope this gem of a game gets recognised again for its unique design and gameplay.

Not really, it was a shit game that didn't make sense, if mercer is the original then james trying to consume him would have just destroyed himself and mercer should have emerged not him there was no logic to the ending at all. Mercer was the virus and james was just a piece of that puzzle. I also dont buy james learning moves even mercer didnt know its just bs.
mercer was the badass of the game and he should have been the player in the 2nd one not this random loud mouth douchebag that no one liked. There were so many plot holes and inconsistencys in the story that just made it unbelievably stupid.

Seeing as how they say the Blacklight virus turns you entirely into an amalgamous shapeshifting blob of sapient virus, I like to think that Alex Mercer just faked his death by feeding a lump of himself to James.
Alex was able to keep his entire mind stored at the end of the first game inside just a tiny smattering of black virus residue after being nuked. He then regrew a body from that goop via feeding off nearby animals/people.
Therefore, by letting James rip apart a body made of goop shapeshifted to appear human, all alex needs to do is get a single blob of his goop to safety and he can regrow, with James fully convinced Alex is dead.
Additionally, we see James rip off both Alex' arms and carelessly toss them aside before "killing" Alex.
So it's more than likely that Alex just regrew from those arms (or perhaps Alex safely hid a sample of his goop elsewhere and planned to fake his death from the very beginning).
Either way, Alex not only could have survived, but almost certainly planned for the ending events of Prototype2 in order to fake his death, and go live in peace disguised as anyone he'd eaten who'd ever lived in NYC.
After all, with so many millions dead in ways that couldn't possibly be tracked or observed, most if not all of Alex' victims/snacks could easily have survived the attack on NYC as far as anyone but Alex is concerned.
So in the end, Alex is almost guaranteed to be living comfortably on some beach or in some city somewhere, with an entirely new start on life.

I'm not usually one for sand box style games, but when I first heard this theme I knew I was in for a fun ride.
I bought the second cause I read the Alex Mercer page on Prototype Fandom Wiki page and loved the path he took in Prototype 2 and imagine my surprise and disappointment when I realised that Mercer wasn't the protagonist!
I now hate Heller but love Mercer and was happy that I could at least play as Mercer as a skin.

Mercer was the best character in the whole game including the second too. I did even wish to kill Heller(me) in the outcome of the fight somehow, he is just that cool
He didn't die. He went easy on Heller (fighting in a small area, which is totally unlike him, used no armor and no devastator) in order to let Heller think he won and "consume" him. Remember, the virus never dies. He just finds another host. Heller may have the powers, but he's not the virus. He can't infect or give powers to anyone. Now, if you wonder, the only reason Alex was able to consume Elisabeth Greene was because they are both viruses, not ordinary/less ordinary infected.

No it wasn't, it was heavily hinted that he let himself die, we can see that both in the dialogues he had at the end of the game but also how his characters believe humanity to be. Alex lost his faith in humanity believing that humans only think about themselves and their self preservation, heller on the other hand went against this notion only wanting to save his daughter, thus the final fight was hinted to be nothing more than a test, also supporting this, aside from everything already stated, is ths fact that alex just let himself be consumed and the fact that he didn't regenerate even though he had enough biomass to make helled do a devastator that expanded throughout all of manhattan
