When Fabregas and Nasri left in the 2011 summer and we were subsequently hammered 8-2 at Old Trafford, I seriously feared for our season. Van Perise literally dragged us to 3rd place that season on his own, his hat-trick at Stamford Bridge stands out in my head. 38 goals in 47 games. He really was a hero to Arsenal fan's at that point ... that's why it hurt so bad and why I guess were so bitter that he left for Utd after that.
He truly is a legend ( atleast to me, just like robben and krul) to bad we got so close twice, despite everything, but fucking hell did they do great. That amazing header, robbens run, and krul saving those penalties.
I’m a united fan so I love rvp but the feeling for Arsenal fans must be so weird cus you loved him so much but also hate him for leaving but he had to leave or else he would never have won a prem
his last year at Arsenal and his first year at Manchester United. wow. that is as good a 2 years as any player ever. Only foreigner to score more than him ever in the Premier League is Thierry Henry. Robin van Persie, Legend of the premier league. 1 of the greatest footballers I have ever seen. the most underrated. Netherlands captain and top scorer ever. Icon.
He only has 1 PL title to his name. He didn't leave his mark on the PL (in terms of what he won, which was 2 trophies in roughly a decade), but he will go down in the history books as one of the greatest marksmen to grace the PL, without a doubt.
This video never fails to make me tear up, he was OUR hero, saved us so many times, and will always be one of my favourite idols and childhood heroes, Love you RVP.

He lives rent-free in my head. One of the most ludicrously talented players of all time. Had everything. The perfect blend of a number 9 with the technique of a number 10. Imagine him in the current Arteta set up man.
I cried watching this video. It still hurts me after 6 years of his departure. Still haven't been able to get over it. I loved him too bits. My favourite arsenal player of ALL TIME. As long as he played, I never cared about anything else. I wish I can meet him one day and just kiss him in any way or form. He was my Football Idol and always will be forever. This is like the 100000000th time i watch this video and every single time i get the same feeling of thrill and depression most of all. He could've been a legend, i had Arsenal as a title contender this season....until Van Persie left. It's just a shame that he is a cold blooded traitor that happened to be, not only our main man, but our captain.. AFC till i die no matter what
even in 2019 people still think about him. What a player and i honestly can't hate him. it was wenger's lack of ambition that drove him to Manchester United. LEG
I agree with most of the comments below. I adored his style of play ever since he stepped on the scene at the Arsenal, and after that 2011/2012 season he was one of my favourite players since Henry, way above fabregas. Had he stayed and won something to end our drought with us he certainly would have cemented a place in one of our all time greats. But he decided to jump ship like a coward and do it the easy way. To them he's just another player to us he could've been a legend.
Yordi Althaus Shure, it was his choice, and he was well aware that by going to United, he would ruin his history after 8 years with Arsenal. Joining the rivals of the team that built you and showed you faith through the hard times, simply for more money and a PL title... Yeah. I hope he is happy with what he did, I am certainly not :p
Thk you robin for the fantastic 8 yrs of service u gave to arsenal, although u had a lot of injuries, we stood by you and at least you repaid that in your last season with us. It is a pity u didnt see yourself winning the title at arsenal or shared the same ambitions.
5 years after you left arsenal and I still miss you wearing arsenal T-shirt. To be honest I will always miss you my idol. Arsenal is different without you and you wearing other tshirt, see that hurts me..
2012 seems so distant already. This video also introduced me to celebrate. Very nostalgic. One thing I had back then even after losing RVP was hope of progress. Now with Alexis and özil running down their contracts, it looks like we are in the decline.
Back on here again. Gosh, it’s a year already? Seems very strange talking about Sanchez as one of our own. Ironically followed in RVPs footstep. Wenger has left and Kroenke in full ownership. Not looking good. Well, at least we have Aubamayang and Lacazzete that finally filled the hole RVP left behind.
I don’t know why I come back to this video, but I somehow return to this dead forgotten video every year. I wish I had start commenting when I first stumbled on the video. Let’s see how long I continue to randomly remember this video,
Algorithm brought me back. 10 years already. Auba wasn't the one. Gabriel Jesus might not be as prolific, but he could be as impactful. Could this finally be our year... 😭🙏
In 2011-12, he did everything, he scored, he created, he ran back to defend, he captained and encouraged the side..!! he was just immense that season.. No matter the hatred from gooners, he was one of the best at Arsenal, but he will never be a legend here.. He will never be cast outside the stadium in bronze like Henry. I know he wanted to win a trophy but i just hoped he stayed and fulfilled that dream by doing it with us and also end our trophy drought.. :/ :/
He could have been a legend like Bergkamp, Henry, Adams, Viera and others. He chose to join ManUtd at the age of 29 to win the title and than disappear in a few years instead. I moved on long time ago but it still hurts to see guys like him to go for better salary, trophies and shit. Hopefully Jack and Aaron will show him how it's done : stick to your team, go through some bumps and eventually raise that trophy. Gunner ´til I die.
***** haha funny guy .... he has scored over 130 goals for arsenal so that "one good season" is bullshit he still scored around a 100 before that particular season. Don't get me wrong I love arsenal but you can not leave him out of your list of all time greatest. Even if you strongly dislike the guy he is still nr 8 on arsenal's all time goalscorers list and apart from Henry one of the best foreigners to ever play in the PL.
He will always be our Captain Vantastic. Any respectable Arsenal fan wants him to succeed, albeit at MUFC. It was HIS career decision after giving us 8 years of his life and getting us into the Champions League AND third place last year. We love you Robin! ♥
Good luck Robin!! Will miss you in an Arsenal kit but wish you all the best at ManU!!! Thanks for dragging our asses up the Premier league table last year!!! I will applaud your return to the Emirates when I get a chance to travel to London :)

christian a I don't think it was a case of no ambition but an inability to progress at the time if he had waited he would be the main man in probably the strongest arsenal side since 2005 and would be playing the style of football that brings out the best in him however I don't blame him as he was at a stage in his career were time wasn't on his side as he was on the wrong side of 29 and had just played full season for the fist time in years. he as with all players want to win as many trophies as he could and man united was the best choice at the time not arsenal

You're kidding right? After all the abuse that Arsenal fans gave him? You Gunners are so self righteous. You are a Manchester United fan right? So, imagine that Wayne Rooney went to Arsenal...and after that, he score against United and starts to celebrate like in the champions league final. You wont be angry then? :)
phantomhero1994 he's not talking about the fans. he's talking about him showing respect for wenger and the club because that damn club made him who he is today. when you play for a club it's not about what YOU want all the time, and so many players seem to think that nowadays it's pathetic. robin's reasons were nothing but selfish. 2011-12 was his first season to act as a leader. instead of saying "i'm sick of not winning trophies so i'm going to move", he should've said "i'm sick of not winning trophies so, because i've led our team to fourth and i believe in my club and wenger and i love arsenal, i will win one next season and then on after until i retire". i can assure you that would have come true if he'd stayed.
I watched this video when it came out first. Big Vlad fan. Now, watching this video makes me wanna tear up. I think Arsenal missed out big time. PS: I am a United fan. He has done so much for us. Thanks Arsenal. I feel your pain.
@@hanslee1133 he had a bad footballing brain though took him most of his career to realise he had to get in the box to score lol quite shocking really and I personally hated him
I feel all you Gooners' pain when he left for United. I, as a United fan, feel the same way when Danny Welbeck left us for Arsenal. I guess some older Gooners do still feel the pain when Andy Cole left Arsenal for United and start banging goals and became a legend in United. I will feel the same way when Welbeck start banging goals for Arsenal and become a legend. I guess football goes both ways eh?
All arsenal fans call him a snake for leaving but he really wanted to lift the trophy he deserved. The Premier League and at united his dream came true. And as much as I hate united, I love Robin, so Robin good luck on your retirement
Even when he left us to join Manchester United, I secretly feel happy whenever he score for them and prove he is not a one season wonder!!!, but ever since he celebrate his goal against us , i am just speechless , what have he become !!!
Kelvin Chee Omg u guys r so dumb. Last season, he didn't celebrate because it would be disrespectful wouldn't it? He celebrated last match because you guys still disrespect him of what he wants. I'm a Utd fan and I'm disgusted what you guys think of him.
I'm not an Arsenal fan but God damn it yes I'm not ashamed to say that I always used to watch Arsenal matches for this man he was unbelievably so good in Arsenal
SNITCH!!! SNAKE!!!! TRAITOR but still watched his highlights bcoz he was the best and made us love him basically he was our hero but he iz ZERO now. Arsenal made him but for some how he was in love with 1 of our ENEMIES.

phantomhero1994 he's not talking about the fans. he's talking about him showing respect for wenger and the club because that damn club made him who he is today. when you play for a club it's not about what YOU want all the time, and so many players seem to think that nowadays it's pathetic. robin's reasons were nothing but selfish. 2011-12 was his first season to act as a leader. instead of saying "i'm sick of not winning trophies so i'm going to move", he should've said "i'm sick of not winning trophies so, because i've led our team to fourth and i believe in my club and wenger and i love arsenal, i will win one next season and then on after until i retire". i can assure you that would have come true if he'd stayed.
your videos are so emotional, keep it up really like the style of your videos
Anyone still watching this at 2019?
Always. Van Persie miss you.
in 2020 bro
and will watch until my end, since he retired I dont have any interest in watcing whole match😢😢
2022
time flies.. I'm still watching in 2023
I watched this video when it came out first.
Big Vlad fan.
Now, watching this video makes me wanna tear up.
I think Arsenal missed out big time.
PS: I am a United fan. He has done so much for us.
Thanks Arsenal. I feel your pain.
Wow 6 years and i am still sad and i am not even an Arsenal Fan
It's really sad that RVP leaves Arsenal after so many years. The video is great !
Good job Vlad.
Can't believe he went for mere peanuts, one of the most technically gifted strikers in the game, fucking shame.
He would go for £70 million in today's football inflation
@@hanslee1133 he had a bad footballing brain though took him most of his career to realise he had to get in the box to score lol quite shocking really and I personally hated him
Thank you for atleast saying this. Saying that means so much!
rvp did what's best for career , it worked didn't it, he's not a 'traitor'
2018 and still can’t move on from him. Arsenalfan#
Nice said 👍🏼. Van Persie was a great player at Arsenal.
Hate him more than I loved him.. Devil was once an angel, we know
Even when he left us to join Manchester United, I secretly feel happy whenever he score for them and prove he is not a one season wonder!!!, but ever since he celebrate his goal against us , i am just speechless , what have he become !!!
Kelvin Chee Omg u guys r so dumb. Last season, he didn't celebrate because it would be disrespectful wouldn't it? He celebrated last match because you guys still disrespect him of what he wants. I'm a Utd fan and I'm disgusted what you guys think of him.
Tears in my eyes.. in 2019 😳
My eyes are welling up as well
He could have earned a statute outside the stadium...
I'm sure he regretted at least a little bit for leaving us.
I'm not an Arsenal fan but God damn it yes I'm not ashamed to say that I always used to watch Arsenal matches for this man he was unbelievably so good in Arsenal
He was right. He didn't believe that the club and him had the same vision going forward. And look how much we've fucked up, again.
Nostalgia. Miss you Robin
2019 Dezembro
People should really appreciate what he has done for the club coming from an arsenal fan
